How change video dimensions and aspect?

Im having trouble using FCP to change a video that i have from a 4:3 to 16:9... the video was converted and turned out 4:3... how can i change the video dimensions or bring it back to 16:9??

Click on a clip. Under the Motion tab, & then under the Distort tab, go to Aspect Ratio. Try 33.33, 0 & -33.33 until it looks right & fill the screen properly. If you have to change a lot of clips, you might be able to use the Remove Attributes option. I'm not very good at explaining these things..but maybe this will help.

It does not appear that you can change VRAM size on that MB. I downloaded the manual and there was nothing in BIOS that even came close to allowing any changes for it.

Common video dimensions and bit rates for dynamic streaming?

I'm going to be converting my videos to flv and am trying to decide what to use for video dimensions and bit rates. Some of my users have slow computers and connections so I'm thinking 150 on the low end.
Is there a common practice? What has worked well for you in the past?

I am not sure what FMS version you are currently using.
Well, if you look at the sampe vod folder that ships with FMS4.5, it has files encoded @ 150kbps, 500 kbps, 700 kbps, 1000 kbps, 1500 kbps.
I am sure that all of these files stream perfectly fine given the correct bandwidth environment.
Its totally depend upon the FMS hosting service provider depending upon the user base of a particular provider.
You need to judge what kind of BW is available to your viewers and put the files encoded at appropriate bitrates.

Change video resolution and get it to be full screen? How..?

Ok, so i got this small video clip i want to be in 720p. The "problem" is that its current video/image size is 640x480, and it is black on its left and right side. HOW do i edit the video so it gets full screened (and thereby stretched too) and in 1280x720 size? Like, when i play the video in media player and full screen it, it will be full screened WITHOUT those black tiles on the right and left side?

It's all in the maths. Your monitor Aspect Ratio is 1280 ÷ 720 = 1.78:1 (the norm for most commercial DVD's) also known as 16:9. Your video aspect Ratio is 640 ÷ 480 = 1.33 (the norm for traditional TV screens) also known as 4:3.
If you have a 'semi-intelligent' modern widescreen TV you will often find that 4:3 programs look distorted because your TV has stretched the image to ensure no black bars top and bottom. You then have to manually switch, with your remote, the aspect ratio to 4:3 to make the image look normal - but this then leaves black lines left and right.
But the entertainment companies know that consumers want shows that fill the screen without black bars. To do this for older shows they artificially zoom the original to take only a portion of it. But they take that portion in a 16:9 ratio. It looks good on TV BUT, and a big BUT at that, you have lost some of the original image. They are also doing this with feature films.
Two examples that arouse my ire:
'The Wizard of Oz'. Originally filmed in 4:3 (most films before, around 1957, were). But go to any video store and you can buy a widescreen version. But there never was a widescreen version of that film. All they've done is cut a 16:9 segment out of each frame and, figuratively, thrown the rest away.
'Original Star Trek'. You can buy this in widescreen, or watch the TV widescreen version. But there never was a widescreen version - they are cropping it to 16:9 and throwing the rest away.
You can usually tell if a film/show has been cropped: there will be many examples (frequently of close ups on peoples faces) where the top or bottom of their heads don't show.
So to (finally) answer your question: to Share your video in a widescreen format you must crop your clips to a 16:9 frame - job done.

How to load dimensions and members in Planning application

Hello Everyone,
I am trying to load dimensions and members in planning. I know that loading dimension is not recommended through Essbase but I wanted to give it a try. I tried to load the dimensions through rule files but it threw an error that the "members do not exist in database." Is that an indication that data cant be loaded at all in planning application through Essbase.

If this is a planning application, you need to load metadata/dimension to planning first. You cannot load metadata directly to Essbase as it will be overwritten when you refresh planning.
You should read documentation to understanding how planning works. Planning is an interface which sits on top on Essbase. However, Planning metadata is stored in database tables and it is synch'd with Essbase through Hyperion Planning refresh.
In order to load metadata to planning, I would suggest to log on to planning and try to build dimensions manually first to know how planning interacts with Essbase. You could load metadata into planning through:
1. Manually
2. ODI: You will need to reverse planning application and then use it to load metadata
3. Outline load utility on planning server.
Remember, all Planning maintenance is done through planning interface and not through Essbase.

How do I change video dimensions?

I took four SD (640 x 480) videos and, using "Scale" transformed each one by 50%. Then I put the four of them in a 2 x 2 arrangement in a new HD scaled video (1920 x 1080). It plays fine, but now I have the black vertical bars on each side. I'd like to "cut" the video so when it plays with QuickTime, it'll just show the video portion.
How can I accomplish this?

So you need to scale up until you can't see the black bars. Because the aspect ratios are different, you'll have to zoom in quite a bit – and probably need to change positions as well to re-frame.
Not that scaling from SD to HD will cause a noticeable drop in quality.
Compressor can do a decent SD>HD reformatting. There are also third party solutions you might check.

How to change document dimensions and scale image proportionally?

Hi there,
I've created over a hundred files in Photoshop for placement in a book I'm making with software provided by the printer that uses templates of set sizes. My big mistake was to make all the files in Photoshop at A4 size (21cm X 29.7cm) whereas the template page size is 8 x 10 inches. (I know, really dumb on my part not to double-check this vital statistic!).
If I change the document dimensions via Image > Canvas Size, the images (which are all printed articles, not photos) are cropped, which is useless.
Rather than create 100 new files using the correct page setup dimensions, changing the image dimensions in the old file, copying and pasting it into the new (10" x 8") file, can anyone suggest a simpler way? I don't mind doing this manually, but ideally I'll be able to do it in the existing file rather than creating a new one.

I'm confused by one thing. The other answer to my question (see thread) says to turn Resample Image "off". You say to turn it on. Which is it? I didn't really understand the other advice or the terminology (e.g interpolate).

How to set dimension and another parameters of received dataSource to rec?

I have a small problem with set the dimension of recording video from received dataSource.
It always have dimension of original dataSource :/
I have done something like this:

I have an exception with casting Clonable dataSource to CaptureDevice:
java.lang.ClassCastException: com.ibm.media.protocol.SuperCloneableDataSource$PushBufferDataSourceSlave cannot be cast to javax.media.protocol.CaptureDeviceThis works only when I'm operating od datasource taken from capturedevice, not received from another computer.
The question is simple: How can I change dimension, frameRate etc. of record from received dataSource.

FormatControls are only available on capture devices that have the ability to capture in multiple formats. The FormatControl is used to control the device itself, not the stream. The concept of using a FormatControl on a DataSource that isn't reading from a capture device doesn't make sense, which is why you're having problems.
In order to change the resolution or other format characteristics of a video stream that isn't coming from a capture device directly, you'll need to transcode it from the existing format to the new format.

How to join Dimensions and Fact Tables in OBIEE

I need to create report which need to get the information from two fact tables and 7 dimensions. The granularity is not same in both the fact tables. One fact table is having common keys between all the dimension tables and second fact table have only two dimension keys but with different names. My requirement is to create the report by taking the measures from both the fact tables.
I have created joins between the second fact table and two dimension tables in physical and BMM layer and also set the highest level for all other dimension tables in the LTS of second fact table. when am creating report by taking the measures from both the fact tables, data is not getting for the measure which taken from the second fact table. Please advice me how to get the data for the measure which taken from the second fact table.

You have to use the level-base measure capabilities.

For all measures of the second fact table with the lowest grain (with two dimension keys), set for all dimension where you don't have any key the logical level to the "All" or "Total".
And UNSET the highest level of the LTS for the second fact table.

S-Video out and aspect ratio

Hi,
I'm think of getting the Apple Video adaptor for use with my Sony Widescreen TV. As I understand it, this adaptor outputs an S-video signal that mirrors the iMac's built-in display.
Will this display in true widescreen on my TV or will it be in a 4:3 aspect ratio? Is there a way of choosing between the two?

Thanks for the reply. I don't think my question was a clear as it could've been.
What I really want to know is: will my iMac output s-Video that is anamorphic widescreen. i.e. will I be able to fill my TV's screen without "stretching" a 4:3 image?
Or, is the iMac's s-Video out limited to Standard PAL or NTSC 4:3 without support for anamorphic enhancement?
I know that the iMac supports 4:3 and 16:10, but widescreen TVs are 16:9.

ITunes Bug - iTunes changed video dimensions

I can't seem to figure this out:
Used Handrake 0.9.1 to create m4v movie file at 853 x 478 H.264, AAC
Finder shows the dimensions at 853 x 478
Quicktime shows the dimensions at 853 x 478
However, iTunes has the dimensions at 1011 x 478. What is going on here? How can that be possible? Of course, now I can't get the file on to my ipod or touch at this size.
Anyone have any solutions? I am trying now the feature in iTunes to covert the movie to play on an iPod. Do you think that will work?
Is there any other work around?

In summary the "bug" you are describing is this:
You can make a purchase from the iTunes store, which if you don't backup somewhere, it is possible for you to lose, either through hardware failure, loss, theft or an inadvertent sync.

Mobile Apps from the iTunes Store can be downloaded multiple times and it may be that over time the music industry will adopt the same model.
When using an iPhone or any other iDevice to makes purchases you should transfer these to an iTunes library as soon as possible and, further, you should also back up this library and and all its content.

The simplest thing is to use JDBC (java.sql package) to access the cube and dimension views through SQL. Something like this (with appropriate error handling).

How can I find and list videos by dimensions?

I want to differentiate between 640x480, DVD, HDTV and Blue Ray video dimensions and sort them in a list.
iTunes and Spotlight, or Finder search options dont inlcude this functionality.
Does anyone know of a third party program which can find video and creates above listings?

I think I figured out a way.
There's a powerful conversion tool called iFFmpeg. It's basically a GUI layer on top of the ffmpeg engine (command line tool). If you go to the iFFmpeg site's download page you are required to download the engine separate from the app. That will take you to here where you can download the engine:
Download FFMPEG 0.102 OS X Intel 64bit (OS X 10.6.x, OS X 10.7.x)
Now with that you can write a applescript or shell script to get the info for the video files:
ffmpeg -i /path/to/file.mpg
It will output all the info about the video file which you could parse and present any way you desire.

I have implemented SAP B1 in our company. In company it has 2 manufacturing units and 3 Trading units, apart from that it also having branches. I have mapped branches through dimension as it requires for revenue generation and to identify branch wise sales purpose only.
I am not using account segmentation as it disable .
I need your help in following issues.
a.) How to update dimension and project for balancesheet Item at document level .( AR/AP).
b.) I s it okay to change account type of balncesheet gl code from others to expenditure/sales.Is it affects any Financial reports.
c.) I want to generate seperate balancesheet for Manufacturing and Trading without dimension It is not possible.

if u want to update project or dimesion at documnet level then at each documnet prepared and save in teh sytemn should have a project determining the deal belongs to which dimesion of which location
and as per this process u would be bale to [prepare seperate balance sheet for all dimesions / locations/ projects codes
but for that u would require to creat a seperate balance sheet template for all dimesion/location/projecy and accordingly u would have to map the accounts in balnce sheet
but for all thhis process u if accounts are mapped per warehouse it would be more effective and easy
