How close can i get to a "Windows only" box

hi all,
i am considering my options for purchasing new mac hardware and i am trying to wrap my head around my new configuration. i am trying to simplify so any help from the gurus would be really welcome.
i may want to buy a new high end MBP laptop and use it as my only mac computer a kind of "desktop but can travel" computer - i would plug it into the monitor and use it while at the desk and then take it on the road with me when i go to the coffee shop. i may also get a netbook mini mac air to carry with me on a regular basis when i have to do something not so convenient to do on the iPhone.
can i turn my "first generation" 2006 Mac Pro into a windows only box? i am thinking that i would like to do this in order to avoid having to clutter up the new MBP with partitions - but also these boot camp installations are all set up and i am storing a lot of data in this machine anyway in bay 3 and bay 4.
basically, i currently have a boot camp installation of Windows XP on this machine (on partition on drive in bay 1) and i also have a boot camp installation of Windows 7 (on partition on drive in bay 2) on this machine. i am imagining almost totally wiping out or as near as is humanly possible minimizing the LION OS that is on there currently so i can use the laptop as my primary computer.
i would then STORE data on the drive in bay 3 and the drive in bay 4
i'm also considering buying a SSD drive for the drives in bay 1 and 2 to get windows to perform optimally but realistically i am not sure what is possible for me to do so i am open to suggestions.

hi eric. are you guys saying that just using the box for windows is a waste and i should incorporate it into whatever new setup i have?
i am pretty much ditching vm's due to the non-native performance which is an issue for me. i realize the performance gets a boost with a more powerful machine but i just want to run native OS's from here on out.

Searching the forum for NX, it seems most posters agree that Capture NX noise reduction beats Aperture.
But let's assume that I really want to use Aperture instead for my D300 NEF files - because of Aperture's better UI, catalogue abilities and all that.

The noise reduction facility in Aperture is basic at best. If you can be patient, we're assured that very soon there's to be a Noise Ninja plug-in for Aperture. This will do a much better job I would expect.

I'll assume your laptop was upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1
1. Start by copying all your personal folders (Documents, Pictures, Music, Videos, Favourites, local databases,
hosts files, etc) into an external disk, DVD, tape, whatever.
2. If I were you, I wouldn't use Windows 8.1 backup tool, I'm not sure Windows 7 Restore applet will be able
to read a Windows 8.1 backup.
3. Check that you have all the necessary licenses, CDs and executables to reinstall your former Windows 7
applications, components, browsers, plugins, Java, .NET Frameworks, etc. Be aware that some applications require
to keep same hostname and/or same IP and/or or same local username (or all of them) as they were on the original
Windows 7 machine.
4. Check that you have your Windows 7 CD and license handy.
5. Do you have a Windows 7 image backup of your laptop (prior to the Windows 8 upgrade)?
5.a Yes? Then restore that image and restore your personal folders on top. You might need to
install or reinstall some of the applications I mentioned on #3
5.b No? You'll have to format your laptop, install Windows 7 from scratch, create your local
user with administrative rights, install SP1, install necessary updates, reinstall all your

Hi i,m developing a HTML site and used one animated flash button(AS2) I want a small sized window to open when a user clicks on a button.
The window will contain information that i want to display.It dosnt require a normal 800x600 window to open. I just want a 1/4 size of 800x600 etc. Is this possible and if so how.

It is the same in the latest version 7.0.2. You can shut off the saving and auto filling of passwords by clicking in the menu bar at the top Safari > Preferences and then select Autofill and uncheck the passwords box. Also check the next pane as well.

I wanted to know where you can get a Windows 8 iso, NOT a upgrade iso.
I already did some googleing, and http://www.redmondpie.com/download-windows-8-iso-x86-x64-file-directly-from-micr osoft/ this website seemed to tell me you can get it by downloading a file from Microsoft and just entering a product Key.
However, for this i think you actually need a Windows 7 , because it is an UPGRADE iso, not a fresh system-builder iso.
So i was wondering, where can you get a fresh Windows 8 iso to install on my MacBook, which doesn't have Windows 7?
Or can you use the iso described in remondpie and use it to install Windows 8?

PS According to many people, the new MAcBook Air (2013) which i have does not work really well when you install windows with a CD. That's why i'm trying to use a USB and iso to download it.

iso is just a 100% bit by bit image of an optical disc
there are millions of free programs which will make an iso file out of an optical disc in a few minuts

Things i had to set manually;
1) Keyboard layout, because it defaults to US
2) Two mouse keys don't work had to manually set, Emulate3Buttons defaults on (wanted it off)
3) "VideoOverlay" is off by default (or is not auto detected)
3) needed to set DPI to 96
4) needed to set color to 24 (defaulted to 8?)
apart from that, the auto detection is vastly improving IMO.
The main premise behind this, is to debate the auto detection capabilities of hardware by xorg.

If you remove the names then you may have a problem with organizing or searching for bookmarks.<br />
If you do not want to use the extension then you can achieve the same effect with code in userChrome.css<br />
That is what I would do.
Add code to userChrome.css below the @namespace line.

edit the hosts file on your computer and remove any lines that contain gs.apple.com. Disable your antivirus and firewall.
