How come Firefox will not let me change my homepage to Yahoo or Google?

I have this distorted Firefox logo with that little creature telling me to click on it. When I did I got the same response as others WASD, but nothing else happens. I have followed the instructions in previous answers and it fixes the problem until I shut down and restart. The same distorted logo appears. I have tried and tried to get rid of Firefox and go back to Yahoo or Google but it will not let me do it. The usual box that lets you type in the www.yahoo.com or www.google.com does not come up. Other than going to the tools where it tells me to go where can I get that box and I absolutely want to go back to one of the other websites. I can't restore my system back to when I had Yahoo because that was too long ago.

I downloaded this peer to peer music sharing program called BearShare and it automatically set itself as my default homepage for firefox. Even after I deleted the program I cannot change my homepage to any other website except the bearshare search engine. Every time I restore it to the default home page or another site and close out firefox, when I open firefox back up it goes right back to bearshare. Please help!

Firefox will not let me open one of my yahoo e-mail accounts. can open it on internet explorer. the account is linked with another e-mail account.

I can open the account, but can't select any items to open. problem first started Friday, when the e-mail account would not stay open. Now will stay open but will not open e-mails or allow selection of tabs. contacted yahoo but they said it was a firefox issue due to the fact I can open e-mails using internet explorer.

Thank you! I did all three of those things and it works now. I was using a bookmark for the att.net Mail page like you said. I think that's probably what the problem was. It used to work fine. Now I know.

How come iPad will not let me turn on automatic d/l's for Music/Books

I am trying to turn on Automatic Downloads for Music and Books on my iPad in iOS5.
It keeps coming up with following error.
'This device is already associated with Apple ID'.
It does allow me to turn automatic downloads for Apps.
So at this point the apps are working using the cloud, but music and books are not.
How do I get rid of the error.
When I did purchase new music on my Mac, the iPad did pop up msg saying I d/l'd song and that I should turn on 'Automatic Downloads' for Music. But when I try to turn on the error above appears.
How to fix this?

I think this is something to do with having more than one Apple ID and differing devices, I have one for my Apple Store activity and the rest are associated to my me.com address. I have the same problem on my Ipad 2 as I can't switch on Book sync and it comes up with the same error as you're having.
I did find this after searching around but I'm no more the wiser why this would be happening.

For several weeks, I have not been able to sign out of my Yahoo account. I checked for updates and I'm up to date. I'm using Windows XP.

Usually if you have some kind of hardware failure there is some beeping during POST or most motherboards now have LED indicators to produce and error message based on the type of failure
So if its bad memory, not place properly, mismatched, processor not inserted properly, mismatched voltage or voltage connector not present etc it beeps or generates the error id.
Power supplies can be tested for failure. There are some walk throughs for testing just them with a switch, paperclip or a jumper (I'd suggest not doing this if you are not familiar with the dangers of electricity).
Memory can be tested with memory diagnostics programs like Memtest+
Processors can overheat if the proper precautions have not been taken usually you will get a POST beep or error code for that.
If the motherboard has no response then do the basics first:
Check power connectors and power supply. Once you determine that is not the case move on to other items like graphics cards in all the way or memory.

Firefox will not let me get on any websites (safe AND not safe), claiming that it "may pose a security threat to your system"; when I try to choose the "proceed unprotected" option, it won't let me.

My computer's anti-virus software recently expired. It sounds as though your PC is infected with fake antivirus software. The detailed cleanup instructions vary depending on which fake AV you have. However, as a first step, try this:
Download the following on a different PC, copy them to a USB flash drive or CD, and then run them on the infected PC:

Hopefully these will get you back online safely. If not, search for clean-up instructions for the specific malware.

Yes it will, just sign out, then sign back in with the correct address.

That did not change anything. But think I may have discovered part of the
problem. I found that if I use the numbers on the top of my keyboard,
rather than the side, it will change the numbers. So may actually be an
