HOW COME it only asks to "delete files from PC" sometimes?

Sometimes when I am deleting items from my library it asks me if I want to remove from the pc or keep files. But other times it doesnt?

i love how when I actually type a question I answer my own question. I re-read the pop up dialog this time and it said "only files in the itunes folder will be deleted." SO the times that I saw it was when I was deleting podcasts and itunes content.

  • How come the iPhone 5 randomly deletes songs from my playlists?, How come the iPhone 5 randomly deletes songs from my playlists?

    I Keep making my playlists perfect than after two days it'll delete a bunch of tracks, it's always the same ones too:
    Desperate Measures, Haven't Had Enough, almost all of the albums Picaresque, and Her Majesty The Decemberists, all of the albums Gords Gold, and The King is Dead, and the songs Haven't Met You Yet and Hotel California.
    Why is it doing this?

    I had the same problem but only on my iphone 4. I had songs which showed on my iphone playlists on my mac but were not on my iphone. My solution was to delete the playlist from my iphone and also delete the songs from the artists in the music section of the iphone. Don't know why but this doesn't seem to work by only deleting the playlist.
    Create a brand new smart playlist from the music library on your computer and drag this to your iphone icon.
    This solved my problem . Hope it helps.

  • How come I can't open Excel files from a Windows computer on my Mac?

    My roommate created several Excel spreadsheets on his Windows XP computer and saved them. I put a USB drive in his computer and copied those files to the USB drive and then placed the USB drive in my MacBook. When I go to open the file, it indicates that the files are being used by another user and that it can't open them. What's going on?

    What happens if you copy them to the computer and eject the USB drive?

  • Delete file from folder only (not from list)

    Hi all,
    I've searched a lot and didn't succeed so far, that's why I need your help. In a cloud context, I'm actually creating and uploading files (pdf and/or xml files) "on the go" to sharepoint folders via the SOAP API and this is perfectly working. But
    in a cloud context, I also need to decomission services which is translated into deleting files into Sharepoint.
    That's where it became complicated, because according to the API we cannot delete files if they are not part of a list structure, which is not my case. Is that true ?
    The only info I have when trying to delete a file via the SOAP Api is : its name, its folder, and the endpoint where the folder is. So my question remains simple I guess : is this possible ? If so, how to (a link to the SOAP body would be usefull)
    Thanks a lot
    Regards
    Baptiste

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you want to delete file from folder.
    In SharePoint 2010, It is recommended to use Client Object Model to achieve it, the following code snippet for your reference:
    string siteURL = "http://siteurl";
    ClientContext context = new ClientContext(siteURL);
    //specific user
    NetworkCredential credentials = new NetworkCredential("username", "password", "domain");
    context.Credentials = credentials;
    Web web = context.Web;
    context.Load(web);
    context.ExecuteQuery();
    string relativeUrl =web.ServerRelativeUrl +"/DocumentLibraryName/FolderName/FileName";
    File file = web.GetFileByServerRelativeUrl(relativeUrl);
    context.Load(file);
    file.DeleteObject();
    context.ExecuteQuery();
    If you still want to use SOAP API, we can use the UpdateListItems method under Lists web service to achieve it.

  • How do I permanently delete files  from Nano?

    I manually deleted songs and videos from my Nano because I didn't want them anymore. I even deleted those same files from iTunes when my Nano wasn't connected. But now, whenever I sync my Nano with iTunes, those files end up right back on my iPod. How can I stop those deleted files from being put back into my iPod?

    I deleted from the playlist
    If you delete them from a playlist it only deletes then from that specific playlist.
    Note that Library -> Music is not a playlist. It is the library.
    To remove items from iTunes, delete them from the library or *Shift Delete* from a playlist to remove it from that playlist and the library.
    It will then also ask to delete from the hard drive (which is not the library), if it is in the iTunes media folder shown in iTunes prefs -> Advanced.

  • My start up disk is full.  How do I delete files from this?

    For information about the Other category in the Storage display, see this support article. If the Storage display seems to be inaccurate, try rebuilding the Spotlight index.
    Empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. If you use iPhoto, empty its internal Trash first:
    iPhoto ▹ Empty Trash
    Do the same in other applications, such as Aperture, that have an internal Trash feature. Then restart the computer. That will temporarily free up some space.
    According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of the data. There is little or no performance advantage to having more available space than the minimum Apple recommends. Available storage space that you'll never use is wasted space.
    When Time Machine backs up a portable Mac, some of the free space will be used to make local snapshots, which are backup copies of recently deleted files. The space occupied by local snapshots is reported as available by the Finder, and should be considered as such. In the Storage display of System Information, local snapshots are shown as  Backups. The snapshots are automatically deleted when they expire or when free space falls below a certain level. You ordinarily don't need to, and should not, delete local snapshots yourself. If you followed bad advice to disable local snapshots by running a shell command, you may have ended up with a lot of data in the Other category. Ask for instructions in that case.
    See this support article for some simple ways to free up storage space.
    You can more effectively use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) or GrandPerspective (GP) to explore the volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can also delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one. Note that ODS only works with OS X 10.8 or later. If you're running an older OS version, use GP.
    Deleting files inside an iPhoto or Aperture library will corrupt the library. Any changes to a photo library must be made from within the application that created it. The same goes for Mail files.
    Proceed further only if the problem isn't solved by the above steps.
    ODS or GP can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
    Back up all data now.
    If you have more than one user account, make sure you're logged in as an administrator. The administrator account is the one that was created automatically when you first set up the computer.
    Install the app you downloaded in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it if it's running.
    Triple-click anywhere in the corresponding line of text below on this page to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
    sudo /Applications/GrandPerspective.app/Contents/MacOS/GrandPerspective
    Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
    Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
    The application window will open, eventually showing all files in all folders, sorted by size. It may take a few minutes for the app to finish scanning.
    I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means. When in doubt, leave it alone or ask for guidance.
    When you're done with the app, quit it and also quit Terminal.

  • How Come I Only 65.6 GB Free Space and 156 GB Already?: Thinkpad T410

    I defraged my computer, removed temporary files, and deleted many files but still only have 65.6 GB Free Space. I'm careful on which websites I use, I use Google safe search and go on anti virus protection approved websites.
    I checked my C drive and programs folder has 5.51 GB and Windows folder 27.9 GB. Every other folder in the C drive has much smaller size in KB.
    My dad bought my Thinkpad T410 and I always assumed that having around 60 GB Free was normal since he installed programs for me. But I was a little bit sketchy that there was only 60 GB free, but assumed it was normal because of the program files my dad installed. But I realized the program files are too small to take up very much space. I had this labptop for less than two years and had to use my warranty several times for dragging arrow  (replaced keyboard) and replace fan multipe times.
    How Come I Only 65.6 GB Free Space and 156 GB Already?: Thinkpad T410

    Ok.
    Not too much there to get excited about.
    Do you happen to know how much space is allocated to system restore points? You may have a big allocation that is full if you've been running the machine without cleanup for 2 years. I'm not in front of my pc at this moment, so I can't give the exact steps to check. Bear with me and I'll be back a bit later. In the interim, someone might jump in to continue.
    If you're running Firefox, another thing to check is the amount of the cache allocation.
    Cheers.

    How i can recover deleted files from icloud,,I had a backup copy on iCloud for whatsapp application and I lost it,,I need bring it back what I have to do

    You can't download pictures from iCloud by logging into icloud.com.  If you deleted pictures from camera roll AND photo stream, the only possibility is preforming a restore from an iCloud backup, assuming the backup has the pictures in it.  (Many users have been unable to restore and get back their pictures.)
    If the restore doesn't have all the pictures, then they are gone.
    In the future, use photo stream to sync photos from an iPhone to a computer, then copy the photos on the computer from the photo stream album into a permanent album.  Photo stream pics stay there only for 30 days, and only up to 1000 photos are stored.  Don't use photo stream as a storage medium, it's only for copying photos from one device to another.  Always copy (either via USB cable or photo stream) to a computer and then move to an album.

  • How to delete files from start up disk

    Please help. After my macbook air is on for 2-5 mins, it comes up with I need to delete files from my start up disk. I went into start up disk and the only thing in there is the OS X system. So, then a small box appears. and tells me my memory is full and that I need to force quit applications. Sometimes the only application that is on it is finder. At this point the macbook air then freezes and I have to turn it off holding the button down. When I go to turn it back on it will often not turn back on. This laptop is only 11months old and running the new OS X system (mountain Lion) that just came out.

    Use Grandperspective to visually map all files:

  • How do I delete files from a portable hard drive

    I've been backing up my MacBook Pro on an external portable hard drive. I need to delete some but not all the files from that portable hard drive permanently. When I highlight them and click to move them to Trash I get a message telling me this cannot be done because they are Read Only files? How do I go about it. I am required by work to delete them off this hard drive. Do I have to reformat the hard drive? If so how do I go about it?

    You can easily delete files from a Time Machine Backup:
    Click the Time Machine icon in the Dock.If the Time Machine icon isn’t in the Dock, look for Time Machine in the Applications folder.
    Use the arrows or the timeline along the right side of your screen to browse through the backups Time Machine created.The windows behave just like Finder windows, so you can open folders, click items in the sidebar, and use the search field in the upper-right corner of the window.
    When you find the item you want to delete, select it, and then open the Action menu (looks like a gear) and choose Delete All Backups for the item.

  • How do I remove password when deleting files...lion

    Hi. I upgraded to Lion.
    I need to know how to remove the password everytime deleting files.
    Im going crazy...how do I remove that appliction ?
    MBK

    Thanks for your speedy reply, Mr. Alexander. I did try that yesterday, going to the doc and making sure it wasn't a read only, or locked, but it didn't seem to solve the problem. I created the files using Pages and saved them as Word docs. 45 -50 files were grouped in a master file. I attempted to send the master file via Mac's mail software and then gmail. Both requested a password from the recipient--which I did not have. I then zipped it and sent it via gmail. I think the recipient could open the main file but not extract individual files without a password. Files were sent to a PC user. I haven't had trouble sending individual files prior, though I have not tried to send these specific ones separately as I'm hopeful there's a better way.
    Thank you for time and assistance.
