How come mavericks keeps asking me to download the same software update?
since i've download mavericks, i have had issues with the app app. i can't get the latest update for imovie and i keep getting the same alert to download maverick's firmware and thunderbolt updates even though i have already downloaded those files numerous times. anyone else having the same problem?

The solution is to delete /Library/Printers/hp/Frameworks/HPSmartX.framework and re-install the HP package once.

My Macbook updated to Maverick and all the other random updates started to follow. I have currently seemed to hit a setback. For the past three days iphoto and imovie have been trying to update but never seem to get close to finishing. Oddly I can install a new app or download a third party app without waiting for days. I deleted both updates in progress so they could restart the process but it is still slow. Also the update to gmail for maverick has installed twice already. A third installation is waiting to install according to the app store. Should there be three?

to figure out which users have administrative privileges, open the Users & Groups pane of System Preferences; each user other than the Guest User will be shown with a description of either “Admin” or “Standard”. It’s typical for the first user created on a Mac to be an administrative user. -
I just downloaded firefox onto my mac and it keeps asking me to add the same website.
So i just downloaded firefox onto my computer and followed all the interactions to get it working. Well apparently i can't open any webiste because it keeps asking me to add the same website over and over again. it will even be the same "secure website", ill add it and nothing will happen expect it will keep asking me to add it. Ive tried fixing preferences but i don't understand why it's not working my other internet source is working just fine.

I updated my mac 10.8 to mavericks but after installation the app store ask for the same software update again..i have a slow connection..i cannot install it again and again..what should i do?
In case you are not aware, Mavericks requires a high speed broadband connection.
In the event you need to restore or repair the starutp disk, OS X Recovery also requires a broadband connection as noted here > About OS X Recovery

How do I remove an old version of the Apple Software Updater program from a Windows XP SP3 machine
without an Apple Software disk? I keep getting a message saying that I need such a disk to uninstall
the old program so I can install Itunes software so I can download apps for my new Iphone 5S.(1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):

(2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
(3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Apple Software Update entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:

Depending upon how extensive your library of legacy Microsoft Office data files are, you may want to consider continuing to use Microsoft Office 2004.
Microsoft Office's 2011 version is compatible with Lion and presumably either works with Mountain Lion or an update will make it so. The problem with this approach is that Office 2011 will "convert" your earlier data files and there lies the rub! For example, I have the need to weekly open a chart created in Excel 2004, but Excel 2011 trashes the chart in its "conversion."
So I have approached the overall problem differently.
The reason your applications do not work in Mountain Lion is that they were written for the older PowerPC CPU that all Macs used up to 2006. When Apple made its transition to the Intel CPU, they licensed software that they included in all versions of OS X (from Tiger to Leopard and optionally, Snow Leopard) called Rosetta.
Rosetta miraculously allows PowerPC applications to work on the Intel processor transparently; you do not know it is even present.
The problem is that after 6 years of the transition, Apple's license to use the underlying software expired for OS X Lion and all version thereafter (and it is doubtful that the current owner of the software, IBM, would relicense it, even if Apple were inclined to do so).
So for those of use that need to run Lion, I have offered the option to install Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) into Parallels 7:

Help. I recently downloaded the latest software update for on my Apple TV (per the prompt Apple TV gave us). Ever since downloading the update, we cannot access movies, play movies, or access iTune store. We can play YouTube videos so the problem is not related to the connection. It happens only when we are trying to access Movies. Very confused. Our AppleTV was working fine until I did the new software update. Now this problem! Help!

Well I am having the same issue and I had not had to worry about getting a "licensed charger." The poster who responded offered not real insite and was rude to boot. I am also looking for the fix on this . My iphone will not even charge now on any charger. What the heck. I am not trying to treaten anyone either when I say I am frustrated with my iphone which in my case I have only had for a few months. Since I downloaded the recent software update, my battery charge lasts about 1/10 as long. Is there a new option that I can turn off that might be draining my charge?
There are just too many settings and combinations of apps and settings that affect battery use. Look through past posts for references to battery and read through them to get ideas. Some recent ones.. Turn down brightness and set Bluetooth off.

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5.2 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.2 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Older versions of Pages 5 can not open files from later versions of Pages 5.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud and opened in a newer version of Pages is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has removed almost 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

You can't even delete from the server in mountain lion.... I did it from my old mac, but it didn't work. I keep having 11,000 new emails that can not even be deleted in blocks!!!
