How come my iPod Touch will not let me get the latest software update and will only let me have the 3.1 update?
My iPod will only let me get the 3.1 update and I don't know how to get a later update.
What happens when you try?

Do you have the original ipod touch? If so, then 3.1 is the latest software.

Since the last update to Snow Leopard- My computer seems to perform fine, but when I restart the computer or shut it down and then turn it back on- it gets hung. Does your iMac fail to boot every time or only some of the time? Here are some things to try:
- Boot into "safe mode", which will run the equivalent of Disk Utility's "repair disk" operation.
- Boot from the system install disc that came with that Mac with the "D" key held down to run the diagnostics. Run them several times to see if any hardware problems are reported.
- If you can't identify the problem or fix it any other way, download and install the OS X 10.6.7 "combo" updater.
- If that still doesn't help, try reinstalling OS X 10.6 over the top of what's on the disk. -
How come my iPod touch AND my iPhone will no longer sync with my iTunes?
for some reason the past few days ive been trying to back up my iPod touch and my iPhone 4s on itunes and its not discovering it. ive done all the steps on the support page. ive reinstalled itunes, ive shut the computer off and rebooted. rebooted my phone and the ipod and still nothing. ive tried multiple usb ports that are on my laptop. ive went into computer management and its still not seeing anything. i know the cord is fine because its less than a week old and when i plug it in, the devices are charging. someone please help!

Including removing and reinstalling all the Apple software by:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7

Do you have another cable to try? The charging and data use different conductors/contacts so it may still charge with a bad cable. -

The option to update without the computer (Over the air) was made available with iOS 5. If your iDevice is using a version of iOS lower than 5, you will need to use iTunes on your syncing computer to perform the upgrade. Use the Apple link below as a guide for the upgrade.

My ipod touch does not show up in my itunes source list, and shows up as a digital camera in "My Computer". Any ideas?
Start here. Is ti normal and expected for the computer to also see the iPod as a comera since that is how you get saved photos from the iPod to the computer.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
* "Clear the Cache": Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"

Make sure that you have do not disturb off. If you pull up notification center it will be the crescent moon.

why is itunes downloading the latest software twice and leaving my ipod in recovery mode? what happend to the first download?

Restore loop (being prompted to restore again after a restore successfully completes)
Troubleshoot your USB connection. If the issue persists, out-of-date or incorrectly configured third-party security software may be causing this issue. Please follow Troubleshooting security software issues. .
Next try placing in DFU mode and then restoring.

I have downloaded the latest software but it has set my phone to the incorrect time, 8 hours earlier than it is so alarm didn't go off this morning as I hadn't noticed! Won't let me change time. Apps look like cartoons designed by a child. V unhappy

How do I delete movies from iTunes library? I have moved them to the iCloud and now only seem to have the option to hide the icon in iCloud. I am sure I chose poorly at the 'keep file' window. Please help. My Brain hurts… 18 plus movies need to go…. Thank you.
Instead of removing the music from the cloud or the iTunes library why not shuffle your music using a Smart Playlist which excludes the holiday music, or tracks that are not checked. For example, use this very simple Smart Playlist:

I have done all the steps required to update IOS5 to my iPhone. It did not update automatically. It just updates to 4.2.1 which says is the latest software for my iPhone. Is there any other way to update my iPhone to IOS5?

OK, a couple questions for you. You say you have "the latest" iOS update installed on your iPhone, but you don't mention what version that is. Would you please tell us what the version number is for your iPOS installation? Also, you have the "banner" on your Settings App, but is the banner for in iOS update, or is it for something else? Do you have a new provile, or an expiring profile, or possibly Notifications that may be triggering that?

when connected to PC it just shows the apple logo on the display

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
