Some apps won't play sound through iPad2 speakers

I've noticed since updating to iOS 5 and 5.0.1, I've got more apps that won't play sound through ipad2 speakers, but will play sound through earphones though. Using the same app on the iphone plays sound through the iphone speakers as normal.
It seems to be picky with which apps it does this to as Sky News/BBCiplayer/YouTube/Video/ IMDb all play sound through ipad speakers. Apps like FilmOn plus/ FreeAppMagic/ Falling Gems/ Bejeweled2/ FNS Shift2 will only play sound through earphones. These Apps updating to the new iOS doesn't fix the sound issue either.
I can use an app that plays sound through iPad speakers, then use an app that doesn't play sound through the speakers, then use another app that does play sound through speakers, so the earphone connection actuator doesn't look like the problem to me. Maybe some sound drivers may have been lost or deleted with new iOS updates over wifi...?
Any help would be appreciated.

See if perhaps this is the reason why some apps aren't playing sound.
If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds may have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.

Thanks for the feedback. This is a custom enterprise application. So there is not an update yet. It will take our developer a little time to get it IOS 5 compatiable. So unless I can change the IOS we can't use application until we get upgrade of the custom app.

How do I boot from an external hard drive if my MacBook Pro only recognizes the internal drive?

Hi there, I recently got the white screen of death (w/ circle slash) on my 13" 2009 MacBook Pro. Most people are saying that it is hard drive failure, so I am trying to boot it from an external hard drive to save some of my data before having it repaired. Unfortunately, every time I press "option" while it boots, it only shows the internal drive on the grey screen. I have my external drive connected, but it won't recognize it. What should I do?

You can only start from an external drive if OS X is installed there. If not, it won't appear as a bootable volume because there isn't any operating system inside it.
As you have a Mid 2009 MacBook Pro, it's better to start from the Mac OS X disc that came with your Mac. Insert it and hold the C key while your Mac is starting. After starting, go to Utilities menu > Disk Utility, select "Macintosh HD" in the sidebar and repair it. If you can't get it repaired, take the computer to an Apple Store.
If the hard drive can't be repaired, the only option to recover your files is to use an application as DiskWarrior, but it's expensive and it's not sure that it will work, because it may fail

I have tried resetting I pad and have tried deleting apps and ae starting them but for some reason some apps will still not play sound. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the Music and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound.
Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. Firefox won't play sound on youtube video's but sound works in other applications

i can play sound as usual on other applications such as media player, vlc, itunes etc... but firefox and internet explorer do not work, google chrome doesnt even work. i have re-downloaded flash player and the pluggins many times trying to fix it, cleaned out my pc with ccleaner, anti-virus checked and such. i just cant fix it. i have before but i forget how and it always happens again after a while, especially just after pulling out speakers or headphones from the jack.

Try clearing the Cache in Firefox.

Youtube may have made some changes recently. Clear the Youtube cookie and refresh page if above does not do it.

How come when I try to sync photos from iTunes to my iPhone, only half the photos show up?

All of the photos are compatible (JPEG) for syncing, but only half of them are syncing onto my iPhone 4S.

How come when I use "Space before" in a paragraph style, it will only put the space in if i have a blank line above it. Shouldn't it do this regardless?

Maybe I'm missing something, but it seems to me that if I have a style with a "space before" setting of, for example, 21p, i should be able to put text into a new text box and have that text with the style applied pop down the page. It doesn't do this. I can make it work by just hitting "enter" and having a blank line in front of it, but in my mind this shouldn't be necessary. What am I doing wrong?

That's expected behavior. If the text spans columns or pages you wouldn't want a space above if a new column started with a paragraph at the top. Like this where you want the 2nd column to align with the others:

My children both have a ipod touch, we just recently added a itunes card, and now when we go to purchase a app a screen pops up and says "security info" but only has the option to click "submit" or recovery email address, which i do but no luck??

Honesty just send it to Apple or take it into a Apple store, it may seem like a pain but its worth it plus you wouldnt want to damage it farther.

How come some of my itunes songs have a "check mark" and ones that do not say the file cannot be found.

How come some of my ITunes songs have a check mark next to them and the songs that do not have it, I receive a error message " the file could not be found" The songs are on my Ipod and Ipad2. Is my itunes library screwed up? Can someone tell me how to clean up my library?

This happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes.

When I select this option I get nothing. The songs I have downloaded must be somewhere because they are listed in my i tunes library and on the screen I've been sent to. I can't the songs to play however. This is not true of all of my songs but it is true of quite a few of them. Actually, one song is too many. How do I get my music to play that seems to be locked up somewhere in the computer?

Presuming they're on your computer, right click on them and then follow the prompts to locate hte file on your computer.
