How come updates aren't auto synced?

Now that you can go in the store settings on a Mac and iPad and choose what you want to automatically sync, I thought it would also apply to App updates but apparently only new Apps are auto downloaded. Is there a way to make updates also auto download on other devices?

I made an acl with the Group I am in and myself User "Full Control", basically "readsecurity"...
I think this is a security feature. Basically where only admins have the ability to setup folders (in server admin) for users and groups.

On your Mac open System Preferences > iCloud
Deselect the box next to Calendars & Reminders then reselect it.
Do the same for Notes
On your iPhone and iPod. Tap Settings > ICloud
Switch Calendars off then back on. Same for Notes.
Give iCloud a few minutes to sync data.

How come messenger info doesn't sync?

In the Address Book; the name, address, email, phone number, picture, all sync. But how come the AIM screen name doesn't sync? It shows up in the Address Book on my Mac, but not in the Contacts on my Touch.

It would appear that Apple, for whatever reason, have decided not to include fields for instant messenger names in the iPod touch Contacts application.
Even if you enter a new Contact on the iPod touch, there is no provision for those fields.

How do you turn off Auto-Sync without connecting the ipod to PC?

My Purchased Tracks was deleted off my computer, but I still have all of them on my ipod. I have iTunes 7, so I am aware I can transfer all my purchased music from my ipod to itunes. But I know auto-sync is set up, so when I connect it to my computer, won't it automatically sync itunes with my ipod and therefore delete my purchased music on my ipod? Can I turn off auto-sync without connecting my ipod?

A couple of ways...
Hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys when you plug in the iPod. (For a PC)
Or...
Connect your iPod, but before it starts to sync, click that little X on the right hand side of the ITunes display at the top of the page. (Next to the "Do Not Disconnect" message.)
Then click box at bottom that says manually manage music.

How to update the songs that sync when syncing only part of a playlist?

I have several Smart Playlists in iTunes that could each easily have over 10GB of songs in them. My nano only has 16GB, so in order to get these playlists to sync, I tell iTunes to restrict each playlist to max 3GB - - then I can sync 4 or 5 of these playlists to my nano.
However, I am now tired of those 3GB of songs that initially synced and want to hear a different 3GB of songs from a max total of 10 or 12GB of songs in each playlist. How can I do this? How does iTunes select the initial 3GB of songs - - is it random? - - is it the top 3GB of songs? How can I tell it to select a different 3GB? I will know when I have this solved because once I sync, it should be a lengthy process to get all the new music onto my iPod.

What exactly is the nightmare part? Playlists are the same as they've always been.
Perhaps one idea, after we find out exactly what the issue is that you are having, is to create Smart Playlists, and use those to Sync to your iPod.
With a Smart Playlist, you set rules. You could create a Smart Playlist that looks at you first Playlist, but only includes songs that haven't been played for a while. So after a song has been played, it is removed from the Playlist and only put back again after x weeks, or x months, according to your preferences and the size of the Playlist.
All that happens automatically, at Sync time. So after setting them up, you don't have to do anything except Sync the iPod every now and again, and possibly modify the rules if you find the list is still too large, or now not large enough.

When I originally got itunes, I had it set to automatically sync when I connected my ipod. Now that I have an iphone, I do not want it to auto sync, but I can't find how to change that setting. How can I disable the auto sync in itunes for Windows (Vista)? Thanks.

Look under Edit --> Preferences and then look up at the top of that window - there are a number of choices (General, Playback, Sharing, etc.) - click on Devices and then look down about halfway down the page - there is a place you can click to "prevent ipods, iphones ipads from syncing automatically" - hope that works for you.

How can I manually update videos while all else is on auto-sync?

Please forgive me for asking this again, but I need to free some much needed HD space on my MacBook Pro, so I want to get rid of the videos in iTunes without deleting them from my iPod, normally done via the manual update setting. But I do like the auto-sync of everything else (music, photos, etc.).

Plug it into your computer. Tell it to sync with "this computer" instead of iCloud. You shouldn't have to remove any apps. Otherwise, you can save the app data by using i-FunBox ( http://www.i-funbox.com/ ) just go to the "devices" tab and select 'user applications' and select all of your apps and tell iFunBox to "copy to pc" you're done! You have them all backed up.
