How connect to 802.1x (PEAP) ethernet with Airport Express

Can´t figure out how to connect the Airport Express to an ethernet configurated with 802.1x (PEAP).
It is no problem connect directly to the ethernet to my iMac, something I do with "Internet connect" (but then I can´t share my connection with any laptops etc.)
Can anyone explain how I can solve this problem? Would expect it´s possible through the "Airport-admin"-utility?
Thanks.

Yes but that doesn't help, the Apple TV still has to connect to the Internet in order to set the time for the time zone. It can't do that as it isn't connected due invalid certificates- due to the wrong time!
This is a plea to apple. Now you have updated apple configurator to put Apple TV on enterprise networks please can you allow us to set the time manually so we may join them!

does airport extreme 802.11a/c work with airport express 802.11n

"You can use the AirPort Express to extend the signal provided by the new AirPort, but the Express will not extend "ac" wireless since it does not have that capability. The Express will extend an "n" wireless signal if that helps."
This is what I am trying to understand.
So AXTRM w/ sep SSID for 2.4 (b/g/n) - call it SSID1 - and 5GHz (ac) call it SSID2 - WiFi Explorer confirms AC mode on 5G.
Using an AXPRESS to extend - I have the option of SSID1 b/g/n *and* the 5GHz ac SSID2 in the pulldown (it sees both?) --> if I select SSID1, it also extends this same SSID in 5GHz (both showing b/g/n) >> so I now have 3 signals on SSID1 (XTRM 2.4G, XPRS 2.4G and XPRS 5G) b/g/n and one signal on SSID2 (XTRM 5G AC) ac
    If I select the 5Ghz ac SSID2 to extend - it prompts me "do you also want to extend (the 2.4GHz SSID1)?" --> select yes and I now have 2 signals for SSID (XTRM 2.4G & XPRS 2.4G) b/g/n and 2 signals on SSID2 (XTRM 5G 802.11ac & XPRS 5G 802.11 a//n)
Is the 5G SSID2 actually being extended from the Airport Extreme to the Express?
The reason I bring this up is I am having a lot of issues since iOS8 came out (especially on iPhone 6). Everything I am reading is pointing to when people have 2 AP's set to use the same SSID. When you walk to a part of the house where 5G 802.11 ac signal marginalizes, the phone does not immediately hand over to the 5G 802.11 a/n Airport Express.
My thought was separate the SSID's but to me, if the Express can't extend 5Ghz from the Extreme, it's taking a step backwards. I am better off getting a more powerful router like an ASUS and going with one AP, drop the WiFi roaming altogether
    Any thoughts?

  • Advice to extend range from Time Capsule - wireless and ethernet with Airport Express and Airport Extreme

Current wireless network is Time Capsule (connected to a Cisco router, 1GB switch to servers and printer 1) to Airport Express (wireless) and to Airport Extreme (wireless). Distance means poor signal at the Extreme which has 2 printers (ethernet cables) and an iMac (wireless)
Solution is to connect the Extreme to the Time Capsule via Cat 6 ethernet cable
How do I configure the TC and the Extreme?
I will keep the Express for a wireless extension to the TC

Wired Ethernet from the TC to the AirPort Extreme will result in much better performance.  It sounds as if you are not configuring the AirPort Extreme correctly.
Please try the following steps carefully:
Unplug the Ethernet cable from the AirPort Exteme if it is not already unplugged. With the AirPort Extreme powered on, hold in the reset button on the Extreme for 10 seconds and release. Allow a full minute for the Extreme to restart
Connect the Ethernet cable to the WAN "O" port on the Extreme.
Click the AirPort icon at the top of the Mac's screen and wait a few seconds for a listing of New AirPort Base Station to appear. Just below that, click on AirPort Extreme.
The example below displays an AirPort Express. You will see AirPort Extreme.
AirPort Setup will open up automatically and take a minute to analyze the network, then announce that the Extreme will be configured to extend the Time Capsule network.
Enter a device name that you want to use for the Exterme and click Next
Wait a minute while AirPort Setup configures everything for you. When you see the message of Setup Complete, click Done.
That's it.  Pretty simple.  Things should be working fine now.

  • How: Extend a non-Apple wifi signal with Airport Express

I have a Wifi modem provided by the ISP, Tiscali [Italy] unrelated to Apple.  I want to use my AE to extend the signal to another part of the house.  The Tiscali router was set up with WPA2.  I have Airport Utility 5.6.1 [yah, I know, old; haven't moved up from OS 10.8.5 either, MBk Pro] and the Airport Express is MC414Z\A  C86L9K02DV3R.  Opening the A Util w the AE powered up [yellow light showing] I immediately saw the AE listed at the left, but now that I go back to the Utility and rescan, it doesn't find the AE, altho Airport is one and lists that AE showing a full signal, properly calling it "gatti.11n."  Your advice would be most appreciated and likely will be helpful to many others saddled with a non-Apple wifi router.

Apple AirPorts cannot wirelessly "extend" a signal from a third party product.  They can only wirelessly "extend" a signal from another Apple router. Another way of saying the same thing is that if you want to wirelessly extend a network using an Apple router, you need two Apple routers.
    You have two options:
Option 1.  Add another AirPort Express and install it close to the ISP modem/router using an Ethernet cable and configure the Express to 'create" a wireless network. Then, your other AirPort Express can wirelessly extend the signal from the first AirPort Express.  The "extending" Express will need to be located where it can receive a strong signal from the first Express.
Option 2. If you cannot run the Ethernet cable....or....you do not want to add another AirPort Express, then a pair of Ethernet Over Powerline (EOP) adapters might be able to send the Ethernet signal over the existing AC powerlines in your home.  These products are also sometimes called HomePlug adapters.
The theory with these devices is that you already have the wiring in place.....you just need the adapters.  In practice though, things do not always work as well as the theory might suggest. So, if you decide to try a pair of these adapters, then it would be good idea to understand the store's return policies before you buy.
Any computer / electronics superstore will have a selection of EOP adapters. Ask the salesman what type and brand that he would recommend.

  • Configuring the time capsule airport wlan function as "connect to wlan", the time caspule gets a correct IP adress from the other wlans IP range, but does not assign this to the ethernet ports. With Airport Express it worked!

Configuring the time capsule airport wlan function as "connect to wlan", the time capsule gets a correct IP adress from the other wlans IP range, but does not assign this to the ethernet ports. With Airport express it worked, the single Ethernet port got the IP Parameters passed through!
My setup is a Vodafon Esaybox connected to ISP. Time Capsule is not able to extend the wlan of the easybox, neither airport express can do.
Only the option "connect to wlan" is succesful.
With airport express I was able to connect my Sony Bravia TV to the lan via ethernet to stream pictures, the TV set got an IP adress from the easybox.
With the time capsule the easybox dosn't find devices connected to the ethernet ports to submit IP adresses. The TV set get another IP adress (169.xxx.x.x.) in subnet mask 255.255.0.0 and I don not now where from.
My notebook is a MacBook pro.
    Any idea????
    Thank a lot in advance!
    Kind regards
    Ingo

Neverthe less, could there be the chance, that this feature could be implemnented with an firmware update?
That would appear to be a question for Apple to answer. You can make suggestions to Apple here:
Apple - AirPort Extreme - Feedback
If the AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule are configured to "extend a wireless network" they will provide additional wireless coverage....and...the Ethernet ports are enabled in this type of setup.
The "catch" here is that you must have an Apple router providing the network to be extended.

  • I have internet service on iMac but cannot get connection for Blu ray with airport express.

Why am I not getting internet connection for blu ray on tv with airport express?

Which exact model of the AirPort Express do you have?
Did the Blu Ray player connect wirelessly to the Express before or has it never been able to connect to it at all?

  • Time Capsule with Airport Express how does it know 802.11 b g or n?

    Here is my setup:
    Time Capsule 1 TB 802.11 b, g or n
    Airport Express 802.11b or g
    MacBook Pro 802.11 g
    Powerbook G4 802.11 g
My question is: I have the Airport Express acting as a bridge to pass or repeat the signal to the upper floor of my home. If I use my MacBook Pro this is capable of achieving 802.11 g access will it either try and just connect directly to the TC and maintain that (N) connection or will it be forced to go where the signal is the strongest and go to the AE and automatically default to the max rate of 802.11 (g) of the airport express.
My Probook actually as no issue with full signal access to the TC which is on the first floor but for some reason the older PB G4 only can achieve at most three bars out of 4 but typically just two bars, thus the need for the bridge use of the Airport Express.
    Thanks for the help.

Most of us are still trying to figure out how to add our Expresses and Airports as WDS bridges to TC, so consider yourself lucky. I think that adding a "g" device to an "n" network typically brings the whole network down to g speeds.

  • How make wireless connection with airport express to  Yamaha Clavinova CVP-403 ?

I would like to wirelessly connect my Yamaha Clavinova CVP-403. I would like to use a D-link DWA 125 and my airport express. Does anyone has any experience on how to do that?

Hi Henry - you seem to be a very helpful and knowledgeable person and I am wanting to dive in to the depths of wireless working at home and could probably do with your advice. I certainly don’t have as much knowledge as Jaybee and if he’s had problems I am feeling a little apprehensive.
I know that the first thing I need to do is get an ethernet modem to use with Airport Express as I currently only have a USB modem. I was wondering if you have any recommendations or if I should go straight for the Netgear DSL modem/router (DG834B) that Jaybee ended up with. Although the bit about ‘disabling the Airport Express resp. Extreme routers’ scares me rigid
I have looked at ‘About this Mac’ and got the following for you – hope it’s helpful.
    OSX 10.3.9
    1.33 HGz PowerPC G4 processor
    Airport Extreme: Worldwide
    Firmware: 400.17(3.90.34.0.p11)
    Airport admin utility: 4.2 (v420.31)
My ISP is also Tiscali (UK) - they have said they can only provide modem support on the USB modem they provide so once I switch to an ethernet modem I’ll be on my own. I have checked the Tiscali website and found the following modems, so I would assume (probably unwisely) that they would be compatible with my account...
    Zoom X6 5590 DSL Modem (55907200)
    D-Link DSL-300T
Zoom Hayes ADSL Ethernet (H0-15805) (081580572)
Any help is very gratefully received.

  • Trekstor pocketair wifi storage connecting with airport express

    Hey there!
Is is possible connecting a Trekstor wifi Storage with airport express? I wanna use Itunes and this storage for streaming music with mit mac pro book (OS X 10.9.3)
Or is it nessaray to use a apple wifi storage like airport extreme?
    Thanks!
    Best regards
    Michael

Is is possible connecting a Trekstor wifi Storage with airport express?
In theory, the Trekstor should be able to connect to an existing network either via a wired (Ethernet) or wireless (Wi-Fi) connection. The AirPort Express, depending on the model, can supply both.
On the other hand, the Express DOES NOT support hard drives connected to its USB port; whereas, the Extreme and Time Capsule base stations do.

  • How do i use my time capsule and extend the network with airport express

I have a new iMac and Time Capsule, how do i extend the network with airport express. My time capsule does have a guest net work, and logins and passwords? I am no computer person. So for me it would have to be spelled out.

Use the search as this has been done to death ..
Bob Timmons is the expert on this.. look at his answers here.

This has been automated in the v6 utility. I am used to doing it manually in v5 utility which is also fairly easy.
Apple doco is also good to read.

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4259
    Note.
You cannot extend the guest network unless everything is up to date 7.6.3 firmware. And that is only with the TC as the main router in the network.
All apple routers can be configured as the main wireless or as the extend wireless.. so don't worry if a post uses express or extreme or TC.. they are for wireless, the same thing.

  • How do I stream rhapsody from my MacBook Pro to my receiver with Airport Express?

How do I stream rhapsody from my MacBook Pro to my receiver with Airport Express?

You will need an application like Airfoil for Mac to be able to stream any audio files on your computer to the AirPort Express.

  • How to output surround sound with airport express N

is this possible? I am streaming successfully with airport express, sounds great with no audio dropouts. I have it hardwired to my router and the AX is connected optical to my surround receiver. Music is only played through my fronts. Is there a way to output surround sound? I can't even choose different audio options through my A/V receiver.

I Found out the problem. When I was hooking everything up, I kept the t.v. on so I can assign audio inputs with the onscreen display. If the T.V. is left on....only stereo outputted. When I turned the t.v. off and with the airport express plugged into AUX, I was able to switch between surround sound settings.
so the moral of the story is, turn off video devices when you just want sound, especially if they are hooked up to the AVR with HDMI.

  • Can I create a home network withous dsl connection with airport express

can I create a home network without dsl connection with airport express?
So it means I can't connect to my HP Airprint/Wireless printer without exretnal connection through ISP?? Just need to print from my Mac and iphone. I have Vodafone Prepaid connection, which is directly connected to my Mac. Does that make an internal network possible?

You have to set up the Air Port with an internet connection to set up a network. Do you have a modem? If yes you can set up the network.

  • How to connect grace digital wifi radio receiver to airport express.

    Hi,
I need to connect grace digital wifi radio receiver to airport express. The receiver works fine with belkin n150, however when connected to express as primary base station ( belkin switch off), it displays
    "Default gateway.......
Port 80 not found. not connected"
The conneted type is dynamic wifi network (POE + ). The express is set in bridge mode and configured through ipad.

    Hi,
Called up the apple support services on Dec 9, 2013 and was on line for almost 1 hour without a solution. However, received a call back from team in Singapore on the same day and commitment to revert on the issue within 24 hrs. Received a call within 24 hrs and the entire discussion came down to the point that I have to manually set the grace digital equipment.
I tried other options and eventually the simplest thing to do was to set the connection option to DHCP only and ignore the error.
    Now its working fine..
