Looks similar to a smoke effect.  But you can use a paint brush and paint your colored lines then use the Liquify tool on multiple layers (Filter / Liquify).

  • How can I make this effect to introduce somebody in my video?

    Hi,
I like to know how I can make this effect to introduce somebody: www.hofleverancier.be
You can see the effect on the 7nd second.
    Can anybody help me out?
    Thanks!
    Glenn.

    There are many ways.
    One of them would be:
export the specific point were it starts to Quicktime Conversion > Still Image >OPPTIONS: Photoshop.
Open this still in Photoshop. Cutout the man by using the magic lasso tool.
So then 2 layers. Background and Foregrond (The man).
Import this 2 layered PSD in FCP. Cut it right after the point you exported. On V1 the Background, On V2 the Man. Bring the background to Black and white. Set Keyframes for the SCALE on V2, in order to 'zoom in' on the person a little bit.
    And ad a title effect.
Well, this is the short version. Try to play with it yourself. You can also do all the compositing in Motion, or After Effects.

  • How do I make this effect better?  And some other good effects.

Okay I just put out a new video in which I tried to create an effect of audio waves distorting the air.  I used this process.  base clip, copy clip, new solid, generate radio waves on solid and set color to black, set track matte alpha on duplicate clip, added distort-bulge to duplicate clip.  I will post the video so you can see what it turned out looking like.  My question is what could I do to make this effect look better, and what other effects could I use for this type of clip?

I doubt you will get people throwing you ideas. After all, experimenting on your own is half the fun. Additionally, nobody will give away their best kept secrets that easily. Essentailyl you are also asking the wrong question: The question is not whether you can use and create 1000 different effects, but rather whether you can develop your own visual and artistic style. In the end, it doesn't matter whether you fry people with lightnings or laser beams, it matters that the execution of the effects is spot on and you have some work ahead of you there. As I already wrote, practice color correction to improve your results. Use the same effects in different scenarios and use variations of them, then learn how to refine them, e.g. in case of your lasers by adding smoke, debris, particles or again using color correction methods to give the illusion of charred trees, furniture or burn marks on the walls....

  • How could i make chequered effect?

Hi all, im looking to make chequered effect on illustrator.
So not just normal squares same size etc, but squares of different shapes etc, ( like a flag when its blowing in the wind etc)
    look forward to your replies
    many thanks,

    Hi, Ryan.
I've been working with Illy off and on for about a year now. Learning it is a handful. My best friend is the Visual Quickstart Guide for Illy from Peachpit Press. (And of course this forum.) It's not fancy smancy. It's all about where the buttons are and what do they do. Lot's of screenshots. I know how much screenshots help me, and that's why I take the time to include them in my posts.
Anyway, here's a step by step.
    1. Make a square, fill with white.
Go to Transform Pallet. Set the little black square to the position shown.
Go to Actions Palette. Click on the little triangle at top right. Select Button Mode.
These are the same actions in Button Mode.
    2. Click on Copy Flip Vertical. Repeat 3 times (or as many times as you need). Select them all and Group (Ctrl+G).
Go to Transform Pallet. Position the little black square as shown.
    3. In the Actions Pallet, hit Copy Flip Horizontal. With the white arrow, Shft+Click on the squares you want to be black.
    4. Fill with black. Group all the squares.
    5. Hit Copy Flip Horizontal 3 times (or whatever meets your needs).
    6. Two of the square Groups are backwards. Set the little black square in the Transform Palette in the middle. Select the backwards segments and hit Flip Horizontal.
    That's it.
All this can be done without the Actions Palette, but the actions used are Illy defaults, and using the Action Palette in Button Mode is ridiculously fast. If time is money, then actions are golden.
Now, as to the wavy flag part, I'm working on a wavy flag myself. A straightforward warp mesh doesn't give me realistic results. I'm thinking I'm going to have to break the flag into sections and warp each section separately. I haven't had the time to work it all out. You might fiddle with that approach.
    Peace,
    Lee

  • How can i make this effect in After Effects?

hello guys, im new to this awesome program, im using the trial version so ive limited time to learn XD
can you tell me ho can i replicate this effect in after effect?
    http://tinypic.com/player.php?v=2ajnybc&s=6
looks like speed effect... is there a way to replicate it in after effects?
    thank you

CC Bender is really easy to use. Just take the default settings and animate the amount with about three keyframes.
We can make it a lot more complicated with something like liquefy, or even Time Displacement.

    As for the splinters:
Assuming you want some randomness the easiest method would, I suppose, be a use of Filters > Distort > Displace.
Manually creating the splinters might be »easier« but more time-intensive, albeit allow for better control of the individual particles.
    As for Displace:
    • Convert the image to a Smart Object
    • create an appropriate Brush based on a splinter shape and set its Shape Dynamics Jitters and Scattering way high and in the Color Dynamics set the Hue Jitter to 100% and experiment with the Saturation Jitter
    • use the Brush on an empty layer on a 50% gray RGB-file the same size as the image and with a fully saturated foreground-color do some brush strokes and save this Displacement Map as a separate psd (see screenshot)
    • apply the filter Displace with a fairly high value (far higher than 100 possibly) on the Smart Object of the original image (see screenshot)
    • to accentuate the shards one can use the transparency of the Displacement Mask’s layer and for example apply some Outer Glow on a Layer with 0% Fill (see screenshot)
To get more ostensible randomness one could create several Displacement Maps and apply them to flipped copies of the Smart Object and mask those with the respective transparencies (and maybe add Outer Glow to those).
Furthermore one could work with rotated copies, but that might get tricky.
To incorporate the rotations in the Displacement Maps might also be possible, but even trickier.

Are you looking to make a brush that creates those sort of lines?
If you want to do this completely in Illustrator:
    1. Create a bristle brush
    - Window > brushes
    - Click on the top right-hand menu of the brushes panel
    - Create a new bristle brush, load scatter or calligraphic brushes - or load in brushes other people have created (there are some lovely free ones out there - with a quick search, I found these: http://colorburned.com/106_delicious_water_color_illu/)
    2. Apply the brush to a path (and these next things can be done in just about any order)
    - Use your colors at a low opacity - you may need to do several brush strokes on top of one another.
    - Adjust your blending modes in the Opacity panel.
        - Tap on the word Opacity in the main navigation bar
        - You'll see the blending modes are at the top left of the Opacity panel.
Using a blending mode like "Darken" may produce a nice result.
    - Use the brush tool to draw your lines
    - OR you can apply the brush styles to any existing path
        - Select the path and then choose the brush style you like in the Brushes panel.
    3. When you are done, you should expand the appearance of the shapes. (Object > Expand Appearance) so that your brush strokes turn into actual shapes.
Don't forget that you can use the pathfinder panel (Window > Pathfinder) and shape builder tool to combine two shapes together if you want to add/subtract/intersect areas of your shape.
    Hope that helps. .
Were I doing this, my approach would be to create a watercolor line with good old watercolors and an actual brush, let it dry, scan it or photograph it and then use Photoshop to create a canvas the size of the stripes and position them how I want them to  fit into my Ai or InDesign document with the rest of the design.

Keylight what? All I see is some effect similar to Leave Color, a.k.a the Pleasantville effect that made the rounds 10 years ago. It may require additional masking and otehr effects, but definitely not something that is specifically related to Keylight...

  • How can I make this scene in After Effects?

The Hobbit The Desolation of Smaug. Gandalf vs The Necromancer (Sauron) - YouTube
I am making this scene in stop motion lego. How can I make this scene, the shield vs smoke and the flaming figure, including the shots that zoom into Sauron's mouth. How do I do these shots? I am new to after effects. I have done basic smoke before, but nothing like this. I've done snow and green screen and fire, but I'd just like some help. Thank you I have CS6

There is no plug-in or button, only careful planning based on knowledge of the process of combining layers of images into a final image. Every element in a composite is a separate layer. If you are new you need to do some basic research. There are lots of books out there that will show you the theory. Start on AMAZON or your public library. http://www.amazon.com/Effects-Visual-Compositing-Studio-Techniques/dp/0321934695/ref=sr_1_ 2?ie=UTF8&qid=1421914012&sr=8-… may be a good place to start. Once you get some knowledge you can start breaking down a shot like this:
Layers that I see in this shot in order.
Vignette to darken the corners of the shot
    Foreground smoke
    Lighting effects on smoke
    Foreground branches
Middle ground actor as a track matte or mask source for
    Middle ground smoke
Middle ground lighting effects in the smoke
    Actor on rock
Rock to act as a mask for background lighting effects and smoke
    Rock
    Background smoke and lighting effects
    Background
If your original footage contained the background, the rock, the actor, and the branches then your first task would be to separate each of those to a separate layer. Then you would create or shoot the smoke and lighting effects and start building the layers. You then would modify the masks and effects on each layer to create the light wrap and look of the atmosphere using blend modes. Then you would add color grading effects or overlays to simulate the lighting in the shot. If you were really doing a shot like this you would probably add some lighting cues on the set to help sell the idea that a bunch of energy was lighting up the actors face. Like Mulenium said, there may have easily been fifty folks working on this shot for several days. It's completely unreasonable to expect that you can just add a plug-in and adjust some sliders to create the effect. Every composite requires you to separate elements into layers and then sandwich the elements you need to create and sell the effect you want to sell.

  • I want to use my DVD from my WIndows 7 Computer to install Office 2011 for Mac.  How do I make this work?

I want to install Mac Office from my DVD drive located on my Windows 7 computer.  How do I make this work?

Well, it sounds as though you are trying to install Windows software on a Mac computer.
If that's really what you want to do, you have another project to do first. You could use Apple's Boot Camp software or 3rd party software such as Parallels or VMWare. If so, you have some reading and research to do.
Or maybe you are trying to use Remote Disc? Here is a link to using Remote Disc for Windows:

  • Just restored my iPhone from iCloud. My wife and I have always shared one iCloud ID. But since my restore, when a call comes in, it rings on both my phone and hers. How can I make this stop?

Just restored my iPhone 5  from iCloud. My wife and I have always shared one iCloud ID. But since my restore, when a call comes in, it rings on both my phone and hers. How can I make this stop?  We had it all set up fine before the restore, and there was a trick to it in the settings.  I've noticed that since my restore, her phone has picked up what looks like the symbol of a phone in the upper right corner of the display, right next to the Bluetooth symbol.

    Hi Big Slick,
Welcome to the Apple Support Community!
It sounds like your iPhones may be using a new feature in iOS 8 called Continuity. The following article and information explains how to set up this feature for phone calls. You can review the information on the setup to reverse this effect. My suggestion would be to turn off FaceTime on one of the devices.
Connect your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac using Continuity
    Phone calls
With Continuity, you can make and receive cellular phone calls from your iPad, iPod touch, or Mac when your iPhone is on the same Wi-Fi network.
To make and receive phone calls, here's what you need:
Sign in to the same iCloud account on all your devices, including your Mac.
Your iPhone and your iPad or iPod touch need to use iOS 8 or later. Your Mac needs to use OS X Yosemite.
All devices must be on the same Wi-Fi network.
All devices must be signed in to FaceTime using the same iCloud account. This means any device that shares your Apple ID will get your phone calls. Look below for instructions on how to turn off iPhone cellular calls.
Wi-Fi Calling needs to be off. Go to Settings > Phone. If you see Wi-Fi Calling, turn it off.
    Cheers,
    Joe
