+How dare you arbitrarily block extensions
So now how do I get ''''''Roboform ''''''to work? Ever hear of customer service?
Disabled Roboform toolbar for Firefox 7.5.7!
Unbelievable! Going back to IE where they give a crap.
OLD version of Roboform were blocked because they were causing extensive crashes. Install the latest version and you should be goo to go.

HT2486 How do you enter an extension to a phone number in contacts?
How do you enter an extension to a phone number in contacts?
From OSX daily:The easiest way is through your iPhone or add a semicolon ";" NOT a comma in Mac Address book .
Though you’ve long been able to add automatically dialed extensions to contacts on the iPhone, the newest versions of iOS handle extensionsmuch more intelligently, allowing you to create a “Dial Extension” button to any specific contact. That extension dialer can be activated manually, making the navigation of telephony menus infinitely easier, here’s how to quickly add this to a contact:
Open Contacts and tap the contact name to add the extension to, then tap the “Edit” button
Tap the phone number entry, place the cursor at the end, then tap the “+*#” button to access additional options
Choose “wait” then enter the extension afterwards, it will add a semicolon and the extension afterwards to the address appearing like so: 1-888-555-5555;123
Tap “Done” and exit out of contacts
Now dial the contact to discover a “Dial 123″ button has appeared, tap that whenever you want to dial the extension
The extensions can also be added from a Mac in Contacts (Address Book) by adding a semicolon to numbers followed by an extension, just be sure to sync it through the same iCloud account or it won’t go over to the iPhone.
Anyone who frequently uses extensions to reach specific people at an office, or anyone who has battled an automated phone system knows how useful this can be. You can even set a string of numbers, though the Dial button remains the same. -
Hi,
how would you guys block portable Apps like Skype, firefox,Kproxy and gtalk etc etc ?
it just runs from USB / Local HDD .
obviously I could just block all USB ports but is there a better way?Hi,
Preventing users from running portable applications can be done through:
Configuring specific User Account Control Settings
Software Restriction Policies
AppLocker
More information, please check this similar thread:

How can you hide file extensions?
Hello i have a ton of pictures in seperate folders with the extensions .JPEG and i really hate that it shows. I have tried going to the finder and unchecking the show all file extensions, but it does not fix that issue. I also saw this in another topic but i haven't been able to understand it.
Open the Script Editor in the /Applications/AppleScript/ folder and paste in the following:
tell application "Finder"
set extension hidden of every file of entire contents of (selection as alias) to true
end tell
Select the folder enclosing the documents in the Finder, and press the Run button in the Script Editor. If they are enclosed by multiple folders or are at different levels in the folder structure, select the first folder which encloses all the documents.
(22397)
I don't know if it still works. Im also not sure where i put the folder. I have tried programs but they take away the extension and make the picture not open up then.
Please if you can helpyes i found it, but this is how i enter it i dont think its right:
tell application "Finder"
set extension hidden of every file of entire contents of (selection as alias) to true
end tell
/Users....
then i get Syntax error "/" -
How do you add an extension to a phone number in iCloud?
I just attempted to edit a contact's business telephone by adding an extension to the end.
Here's what the number looked like to start: (212) 555-1234
My goal: (212) 555-1234 x101
What resulted in iCloud when I hit save: 2125551234101
I tried several different ways of formatting the addition of the extension, but none worked. The results all ended up exactly the same. Anyone have any insight as to how to make this work?
Thanks much! From what I read, using a comma to separate the main number from the extension should work. It inserts a pause, with each additional comma increasing the length of the pause. So:
4155551234,,3710484
might be long enough for the automated system to pick up and reach the point where it'll accept the extension number. If not, add more commas.
Commas will also sync to your iPhone if you have one, and work as intended. -
How can you add an extension to a phone number
How is it possible to add an extension to a phone number in contacts, so that when you call the number its extension direct dials?
To begin, determine which contact you want to add the phone extension to
Then, in either your phone app or Contacts app, tap that contact
Tap the "Edit" button at the top right of the contact
Tap the phone number you want to add the extension to
Tap the "+*#" button at the bottom left of the screen
When the new options come up on the screen, you'll see a "pause" button at the bottom center. Tap that
That will add a comma to the phone number. After the comma has been added to the phone number, type in the person's phone extension -
How do you include kodo extensions with xdoclet 1.2-beta2?
Latest xdoclet version (1.2-beta2) has moved on from the kodo documentation
(not least the inclusion of a </kodo> ant tag) to the extent that the
documentation is misleading (at best).
a. The syntax seems to have changes
@jdo:* -> @jdo.*
b. @jdo:persit -> @jdo.persistence-capable
c. there doesn't seem to be any way to specify vendor extensions with the
latest xdoclet :((((((
ISTM that this is fundamental to how a kodo developer can customise the
..jdo
d. perhaps YOU could indicate what the </kodo> ant tag does - the xdoclet
team don't try :(
AFAIK there is a class tag @sql.table and a number of member @field tags
which get translated into vendor-specific extensions ... no docs of course
(PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong) ... that'd be too easy ;^(
Perhaps it's time to review the xdoclet instructions ;-)
MTIAThe documentation on xdoclet covers the Kodo integration we did
ourselves, using the previous version of xdoclet. Now it appears the
xdoclet team has written their own Kodo integration implementation for
xdoclet 1.2, but we had no part in it. It also looks like they've
changed the API sufficiently that our previous integration doesn't
work with xdoclet 1.2.
We have plans to integrate with the xdoclet 1.2, including working with
the xdoclet team if necessary. But for now, we can only support our own
integration with xdoclet 1.1, and we recommend users stick with that
version. -
How do you replace an Extension?
Apparently I have changed permissions in the extension folder that the computer doesn't like. What should they be, if I can change them back, or how do I get a fresh copy of them since they are part of the OS X and can't be fiddled with when the computer is running?
I have an iMac using Mavericks that I have been setting up from my old iMac.
Apple really needs to make it clearer to do migrating from the setup rather than later with Migrating Assistant. If only I had.
Thanks for any assistance. Those are not in the Extensions folder but in the StartupItem folder. One is related to Intego backup software and the other to HP driver software. If you don't have an HP printer then remove it. Uninstall the Intego software. If you cannot find an uninstaller for it then see the following:
Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash. Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder. Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space. If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application. In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder. You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder. You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder. Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item. Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder. Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences. Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab. Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS. Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term. Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default. You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, EasyFind, instead.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder. Usually with the same name as the program or the developer. The item generally has a ".pkg" extension. Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
There are many utilities that can uninstall applications. Here is a selection:
1. AppZapper
2. AppDelete
3. Automaton
4. Hazel
5. AppCleaner
6. CleanApp
7. iTrash
8. Amnesia
9. Uninstaller
10. Spring Cleaning

How do you install JAXP extensions from an applet?
All:
I want to use the JAXP XML parsers and DOM services in an Applet.
How do I get the Java-plugin to download the xerces.jar and xalan.jar files automatically, with my applet jar?
What goes in the applet manifest?
Do I have to alter the xerces and xalan manifests?
BradThanks, but I wish I could report success today.
I believe what I stated before may have been confusing: the extension LIST is, indeed, in the manifest of the applet.jar.
The extension NAMES, and digital signatures, however, are ALSO in the manifest of xerces.jar. I re-read and re-read the documentation and believe I have interpreted it correctly. The xerces.jar is the implementation of the extension, and as such, must pass muster, securitywise, if it is to be allowed to be installed in the jre\lib\ext folder.
You are correct in saying I do not have to unjar the xerces.jar to rebuild it with the correct manifest information. The latest jar tool permits updating an existing jar file. Here is the bat file I currently use to create the installable version of xerces.jar:
copy Original-xerces.jar xerces.jar
jar -ufm xerces.jar manifest.txt
jarsigner -keystore d:\develop\beckrose\java\keystores\underground.keystore xerces.jar underground
(it then prompts for password)
The manifest.txt that is used to update xerces.jar is:
Manifest-Version: 1.0
Created-By: 1.3.0 (Sun Microsystems Inc.)
Name: javax/xml/parsers/
Extension-Name: javax.xml.parsers
Specification-Vendor: Sun Microsystems Inc.
Specification-Version: 1.2
Implementation-Vendor: Sun Microsystems Inc.
Implementation-Vendor-Id: com.sun
Implementation-Version: 1.2.0-EA1
Name: org/apache/xerces
Extension-Name: org.apache.xerces
Specification-Vendor: Sun Microsystems Inc.
Specification-Version: 1.2
Implementation-Vendor: Apache Software Foundation
Implementation-Vendor-Id: org.apache
Implementation-Version: Xerces-J_2_0_0_beta3
The manifest file in the applet.jar refers to these extensions, so that the java plugin knows how and where to fetch them:
Extension-List: parsers xerces
parsers-Extension-Name: javax.xml.parsers
parsers-Specification-Version: 1.2
parsers-Implementation-Vendor-Id: com.sun
parsers-Implementation-Version: 1.2.0-EA1
parsers-Implementation-URL: http://beckrose:8080/underground/opt-pkg/xerces.jar
xerces-Extension-Name: org.apache.xerces
xerces-Specification-Version: 1.2
xerces-Implementation-Vendor-Id: org.apache
xerces-Implementation-Version: Xerces-J_2_0_0_beta3
xerces-Implementation-URL: http://beckrose:8080/underground/opt-pkg/xerces.jar
If you look back at the error message, it does appear that the jaxp factory method is looking for a concrete class of the factory implementation. I believe this is where the plug-in is getting confused. The name of the concrete factory classes are in the META-INF/services folder. However, the concrete factory implementation that it is trying to use is the old crimson parser by default.
In other words, the plugin is not allowing the xerces factory method to find the classname to load. As a result, it is falling back to the default, which is not implemented in the jar file.
Now, it could be that the added manifest attributes and signature file are screwing up xerces or it could be a bug in the plugin.
I don't quite know where to take this right now, so I'll monitor the plugin discussions and check out the xml.apache.org discussions.
All I know is, it should NOT be this hard, this many years after Java 2 has been released.

How do you trace blocked numbers??
This probably isn't really a Curve issue, but I currently have the 8320, and I've had this blocked number call me 19 times between yesterday and today. When I pick up, no one says anything. I hang up, and they call right after. Is there any way to figure out what number is calling me??
I tried contacting my service provider (T-Mobile), but the guy I spoke with was not helpful at all.
Is there any way to figure that out or is it a lost cause?

How to unblock flash player when you accidently block a website from playing video clips.
My PC has Firefox 30.0 browser installed on it. The Adobe Flash Player is also of the latest version. I accidently blocked the video clip that I wanted to watch from a University website and now I can't access any of the videos on that website. I have no problem with any other website. I have tried the solutions discussed on the forum and none of these have worked. I wonder if someone can kindly help me in having this issue addressed please.
How did you block the plugin?
If you blocked it via Firefox and not via an extension then you should see a Lego block icon on the left end of the location bar that you can click.
You can inspect and manage the permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab via these steps:
*Click the "[[Site Identity Button|Site Identity Button]]" (globe/padlock) on the location bar
*Click "More Information" to open "Tools > Page Info" with the Security tab selected
*Go to the Permissions tab (Tools > Page Info > Permissions) to check the permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab
If you blocked content via an extension like Adblock Plus then you need to click its toolbar icon to check what content is being blocked. -
how do you unblock a blocked plug-ins safari? when i go to the updated version to install it, it still tells me "blocked plug-in".
I'll assume you mean Flash. If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test. For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 5.
1. If you're only having trouble with YouTube videos, sign in to your YouTube account and load this page. You may see a link with the text "Leave the HTML5 Trial." If so, click that link.
2. If you're getting a "blocked plug-in" error, then from the menu bar select
▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Check Now. Quit and relaunch your browser.
3. Triple-click the line below to select it:
/Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu. A folder should open. Delete the following item, or anything with a similar name, if present:
Flash Player (failing).plugin
You may be prompted for your login password.
4. Re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from this page:
Adobe - Install Adobe Flash Player
Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.
5. If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked Enable plug-ins.
6. Select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them.
7. In the Safari preference window, select
Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
Close the window. Then select
▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane. -

If you're seeing multiple wifi networks as well as yours, that's normal. It will display any networks within range. It doesn't mean you're connected to them or that they're on your network.
