How data extraction influence other processes in source system?

does data extraction influence other functions of source system (e.g. some background jobs can not be executed due to tables lock)?

The extraction process will not have much impact on the source system's other processes. But if u have got lots of data , it might have some effect while transferring the IDOCS. but as such, there should not be a problem of not data getting extracted. Is there any particular problem which ur phasing?

Data extraction taking long time in source system.

Hi all,
I have created one custom datasource which is full update (not delta).
we are extracting data using function module in the source system.
it works well in Dev system but when I try to pull even 10 days data from source system to BW in production environment it generates huge log in source system. job log gets full & we have to cancel the job.

How To create a new R/3 source System ?

Can somebody guide me to a white paper or something related which explains in detail how to create a new R/3 source System in BW?

while i don't have a white paper, it was as simple as right-clicking the source systems tree in AWB and creating a new one - the process is simplified if you're using release 3.0E up, but i can't help you much if not. but you basically have to create an RFC connection to the source system, create a BW user, assign the IDOCs properly (this one i don't know how to do), and linking them all up together in one source system.
if i come across any notes, i'd be more than happy to help.
i'll try asking our Basis people too, just in case they know of anything i could point you at.

Idoc process manually( source system authorization not there)

I have a chain which got failed and i went to process monitor and there in the status tab i got a message as process manually and i did not have source system authorization . How to correct this type of problem from Bw side and points awarded.

1) first check is the issue with the OLTP idoc or BW odoc..
2) in status tab ur seeing the Process manually at the bottom in Blu color if that is the case click on that .. it means the data has come til PSA and it dint loaded to ddatatarget
3) Ask anybdy who has the access to R3 and process the Idoc manullly fromt he BD87

Problem during data extraction program (tran - RSA3) in SC system

Hi Experts,
We are extracting data from one of the data source (9ALS_SBC) through trans RSA3. We are using active version 000 for the same.
but, the transaction is showing error below:
Error when generating program
Message no. /SAPAPO/TSM141
Diagnosis
Generated programs are programs that are generated based on individual data objects, such as planning object structures, planniung areas and InfoCubes. These programs are then executed in the transaction. An error occurred during the generation of such a program.
There are two possible causes:
The template has been corrupted.
The object that the template uses to generate the program contains inconsistencies, for instnace an InfopCube has not been activated.
could someone tell me how to solve this error?
i hv corrected all the inconsistencies but still it is showing same error!

Dear Jay,
the error can have several reasons, it depends on your business scenario and system settings.
I send you some possible reasons and solutions:
1.
The problem can be that the technical datasource name has changed inside the planning area. The planning area has other extract structure assigned as the datasource.
This could have happened due to a planning area or datasource transport.
The best way to repair this is to create a dummy-datasource for the planning area with transaction /N/SAPAPO/SDP_EXTR. This will update the relevant tables with the new datasource structure.
Please check if the other datasources will work correctly as well. If not you may create similar dummy-datasources for the other aggregates as well.
Please do not forget to delete the dummy-datasources as well in /N/SAPAPO/SDP_EXTR.
2.
You can try to re-generate the data source at transaction /SAPAPO/SDP_EXTR and recheck the issue.
3.
Run /sapapo/ts_pstru_gen via transaction se38.
In the selection, enter the Planning Object Structure used and select 'Planning area extractor' and set the flags on the 2 bottom checkboxes 'Reset generation time stamp' and 'Generate'.
4.
Maybe the extract structure which is assigned to planning area doesn't exist in your system. This could happend at the time of transport.
Please refer to following content from note 549184:

A4: DataSources for DP/SNP planning areas depend directly on the
structure of the planning areas. That's why the planning area MUST
ALWAYS be transported with or before the DataSource.

To solve this inconsistency please try the below:
-Please reactivate the datasoure on Planning Area.
And activate all active transfer structures for a source system with RS_TRANSTRU_ACTIVATE_ALL programme on se38 transaction.

Remote Process Chains Source Systems mapping issues

We have a process chain in APO system, which upon success calls another process chain in BW.   We recently implemented SCM5/BI7, and taking the advantage of remote chains functionality to call the BW chain from APO.
However, when we transported the APO process chain from DEV to QA, the source systems in the remote chain are still pointing to DEV systems.   We were expecting to see both APO and BW source systems getting switched from DEV to QA.
We have already verified the logical mappings for Sources Systems are in place under RSA1 | Transport Connect | Conversion.   Also, the source systems seem to map correctly for other objects like data sources etc..   Only issue is with the remote chain.
Is there any other setting which need to be set to make it work.   Any help or guidance will be greatly appreciated.

I have a similar situation. Can you explain how to run process chains in APO which can gets data from BW cubes, which in turn gets data from R/3.
In this equation R/3->BW->APO, what are the options like 1)run process chains in BW system to pull data from R/3 into BW and run process chains to load BW data into APO 2)run remote process chains to pull data from R/3 into APO(of course via BW).

How to merge key field from external source system with SAP R/3 master

In SAP BW 7.0 system, our scenario is Master Data for 0GL_ACCOUNT is coming from SAP R/3 alongwith the Transactional data records for standard FI cubes. Then, one more set of transaction data is coming from external source system, a flat file, into another custom DSO(ZDSO_FI), which also has this GL Account field.
This flat file's GL account, GL_file, has to be basically mapped/merged with the standard 0GL_ACCOUNT field so that at the time of loading the transactional data for custom DSO, ZDSO_FI (with transformation mapping GL_file > 0GL_ACCOUNT), system automatically refers to the 0GL_ACCOUNT master data to load these incoming transactional values, from the external flat file system. How can this be done?
To illustrate the scenario, say I have 5 records in 0GL_ACCOUNT, loaded from SAP R/3 into SAP BW-
0GL_ACCOUNT      Short Description     Source System

Now suppose if my flat file has following sample transactional data, to be uploaded in SAP BW ZDSO_FI-

So note that the system did not refer the incoming GL's from flat file, although the field is mapped to 0GL_ACCOUNT in transformation, to the already available master data. Rather created 2 new data rows for the GL accounts coming from external system. Because of this I am not able to perform the calculations common from standard FI cube and ZDSO_FI, with GL account as key field. I need to synchronise these data values based on GL Account to proceed with further calculation and am badly stuck.
Request if anyone can please throw some light on how to achieve this seemingly simple requirement?

How to start a BPM process from ERP system

Hi,
I created a process in Netweaver Developer Studio with the Process Composer in SAP CE 7.1 BPM, now I want to automatically start the process by saving a SAP document like purchase requisition or purchase order. Therefore I think about implementing a UserExit / Badi or something else.
The following systems are available in my Landascape:
- PI 7.1
- ERP 2005
- CE 7.1 EHP1 with ESR
Does someone have an idea how to start the BPM Process or how to trigger start event?

the process by saving a SAP document like purchase requisition or purchase order.
Based on your business process, you will have to decide what data should be sent to other system. It could be in the form of Idoc trigger or an RFC calls. If there are non-SAP systems involved, you should be using PI 7.1 too. In that case, you can communicate using Abap proxy call too. For this you may either call an RFC internally in a report and schedule it.

Deletion of Data from Infoprovider after upgradation of source system

HI All,
In our project source system is upgraded from 4.7 to ecc 6.
I have kept the same logical name and changed the RFC connection so that it points to new source system.
Now do i need to delete all data before uploading data from source system or it will be fine as source system name is same.
If i need to delete data ,can u help me how to delete master data especially Hierarchy data. do we need to Delete Hierarchy and recreate it.
Please help em to resolve this issue

It depends on your requirements whether you have to keep the history or not.
If you delete the data from your info providers, you have to reload everything from scratch.
If you want to delete the data from all
1. first delete the data in data targets such as cubes, DSO's or ODS then
2. master data
use these programs to delete from se38
-> rsdrd_delete_facts - for Cubes and DSO or ODS
-> rsdmd_del_background - for master data in background
-> rsdmd_del_master_data_texts - for master data right away
manage your master data info objetcs after the deletion, if you still find them....
go to se14 and delete individually each and every table such as attributes, texts, sids, hierarchy.
hope it helps you better.

Deletion of data objects from already not existed source system

Hello, Everybody,
In BI 7 i had QASCLNT500 source system and have been created datasource with transformation. Later QASCLNT500 was deleted or changed (i don't know very well) to QASCLNT300, but old datasource with transformation is still in new system. When i try to delete these objects i get a message - "Source system QASCLNT500 does not exist".
Could you give me a suggestion how can i delete that datasourse and transformation?

How to transport FM retraction configuration if source-system changes?

Hi experts,
I have configured FM retraction in ERP through SPRO connecting it to my Dev source system in my Dev ERP. What do I need to do to transport this configuration to my production ERP and make sure the BI source-system changes from Dev to Prod as well? Is there some kind of souce-system mapping as there is in the BI side for the extraction?
For example, I have everything set-up for source-system BWD and I want it to change to BWP when I transport the configuration from ERP dev to ERP prod.
