  • How can I have Mail on my MacBook Pro show only notes and not the iCloud inbox in the Mailboxes column?

I use iCloud to sync my notes between my computer and ios devices, but I don't want to see the inbox in mail.  Is there any way to hide or remove the icloud inbox in Mail?
    Thanks.

I appologize, but this should be under iCloud on my Mac not Pc.  Not sure that I can change this.

  • I want to upgrade iMac to Snow Leopard, can I use the (DVD-Mac OS X 10.6.3) that I got with the 15" MacBook Pro that totally died, and upgrade iMac from that DVD

I want to upgrade my iMac to Snow Leopard, can I use the (DVD-Mac OS X 10.6.3) that I got with my purchase of the 15" MacBook Pro that totally died, and upgrade the iMac from that DVD that came with the laptop ?   Thanks

No, that 10.6.3 DVD is system specific to the MacBook Pro.
You need a Snow Leopard Upgrade > Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.)
or if a MobileMe users > Apple throws MobileMe users a free version of Snow Leopard

  • How do you use "find my phone"?  I can't find it and I'm not sure I installed that app.

How do you use "find my phone"?  I can't find it and I'm not sure I installed that app.

The app is not necessary; that only for tracking from another iOS device. If you set up Find My iPhone, you can track the iPhone from the iCloud web site:
    icloud.com/find
If you didn't configure Find My iPhone on the device before you lost it, then you're out of luck.

So eventually you could end up using more data space in a back-up drive than the original drive, huh?
    With TimeMachine, yes.
With a bootable clone, no. Provided you don't save the backup states changes which CCC is doing now.
I prefer a straight clone backup, I keep many copies of clones on seperate hardware to "go back in time" with and thus avoid saving the changes with my clones.
I swear I tried to back up my computer on a 250g G-Drive and it told me there was not enough room. But I am not positive if the entire drive was available or not. I may have had it sectioned into 150 & 100 sections and I might have tried to back it up on the 150 section. or I might be imagining that.... either way, it didn't work.
Your data is going to grow, 232GB is rather small for a boot drive.
So your going to be needing storage drives eventually, just plan ahead and remmeber hardware redundancy is key.

  • How do I FTP files from a security camera to iCloud so they can be retrieved back to my MacBook Pro whenever I connect when travelling?

    Russ

Do you want to watch the live feed of your secutiry cameras or recorded footage?
In either case, I don't think iCloud is your solution.
For the first one, check with your security camera software, they usually have this option of broadcasting, so you'll know how to access it.
For the later, you should use something like Dropbox (www.dropbox.com), since iCloud file sharing is, up to this date, app restricted.
    Hope it helps.

  • Using Migration Assistant to move files from old PC laptop to new MacBook Pro that has Windows 8 installed containing Outlook

When using Migration Assistant to move files from old PC laptop to new MacBook Pro, that has Windows 8 installed containing Outlook, will emails, contacts and calendar entries be moved to Outlook on the new MacBook or into Mail, Contacts and Calendar?

I doubt they will. But then I'm not sure as I used a migration program once about 18 years ago and totally FUBARed the system I had at that time and I've never used one again.
For me the reason to have a new system is to start fresh. Installing only program that I now use and manually copying data over from the older system.
Not sure your older version of Outlook, and the outlook mail boxes, are compatible with Office/Outlook for Mac 2011.
A better place to ask this question would be on the MS Office for Mac forums.
Hope it all works out for you.

  • I uploaded pictures onto my Macbook pro from my iPad and now the pictures are not on the computer.  I deleted them from my iPad because at the time they were showing on the computer.  Is there any hope of finding them or recovery them?

I uploaded photos onto my Macbook pro from my iPad 2 and they are not on my computer any longer.  They were in the computer and deleted from my iPad.  They are now where to be found in the cloud.  Is there any chance they can be recovered?

With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a potential solution.  We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
what do you see when iPhoto opens?
how did you upload the photos from the iPad to your library?
    what fixes have you tried?
    where is your library located?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
    what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive?

  • How can i get my macbook pro to automatically login and open the server

I apologize if this question has been asked before.  I am new to MAC and know almost nothing about configuring them.
I have a windows server 2003 that I am networked with.  When I boot my Macbook Pro I have to manually connect to the server.  How can I make my laptop do this automatically?

Add it in the Users & Groups, Login Items area.

  • How do I use time capsule as a direct backup drive only connect to my macbook pro via ethernet cable

I have recently abandoned my cable internet service provider and am using my iPad as a hotspot via verizon wireless service.  I am trying to reconfigure my time capsule as a back up drive only connected by an ethernet cable.
I was able to set it up on my new hotspot wireless net, but do not want to use it that way because of the data usage impact on my verizon wireless account.
Hopefully there is an easy answer, but it is not intuitively obvious to me.

Well I have to say you can do it.. but if you are plugging and unplugging ethernet, you could just as easily plug and unplug an external USB drive.. and it will be faster and more reliable than the TC.
I explained how to do the TC as a secondary network in the posts here. Look down the bottom of the discussion.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4817218?tstart=30
If any of that doesn't make sense just post again here..
You can also do it with wireless if you accept using a USB wireless stick plugged into the Mac.. then you have two wireless clients and can connect simultaneously to two different networks.. using the same principles as above that you remove the gateway and dns problems that arise by manual settings.

  • I have a 2009 MacBook Pro that won't connect to the Internet at my university while everyone is able to. How do I fix this?

My roommate has the same laptop as me and she connected perfect fine. I also was here last semester and I could connect with no problems at all. I came back to school this semester and suddenly I keep getting the exclamation mark saying I'm not connected. I'm also connected to the Internet on my iPad right now so I know it works. How do I fix this? Please help!

    Try the basics first:
Change your router channel number.  Most times this works & is all you have to do.
Disconnect & reconnect your modem.  unplug it for about 10 seconds.  Plug it back in.  Do the same for Apple’s routers.  Wait for everything to reboot.
    System Preferences>Network
    Click the Assist Me button.
In the next window that pops up, click the Diagnostic button & do the necessary.
Research Knowledge Base for network problems that pertain to the OS that is currently installed on your computer.   See these basic networking KB Articles:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1401 AirPort troubleshooting guide

  • How can I sync calendars across my Macbook Pro, My work PC, and my Android Phone?

I primarily schedule things using iCal on my mac. My phone with Gcal has been loaded with a backup of my iCal, but the two don't sync.  Lastly, my PC is not connected to anything to sync.  Is there some desktop app for Windows 7 that will allow all of this to play together?  I'd really like something that sits on my desktop similar to iCal on Mac.  Yet needs to sync to my iCal on my Mac and PC and Android Phone.
      Thanks

  • How can I improve Wifi reception of MacBook Pro?

I have just bought an external display to use with my MacBook Air and MacBook Pro (17") on the second floor of my house. My modem/router is on the first floor on the opposite end of the house, no more than 55 ft. away.
My MacBook Air gets a strong full Wifi signal (all 5 bars are showing)—so strong that I can easily stream Netflix movies without interruption, but my MacBook Pro gets one so weak (only 2 bars are showing) that I can hardly surf to any webpage at all. And this occurs even though both computers are in exactly the same location.
I have AT&T U-Verse, which uses a model 3801HGV modem/router. No computers in my house are connected via ethernet; all through wireless.
My question: What can I do to improve my MacBook Pro's signal strength? Relocating the modem/router is not an option. Do I need to boost my router's signal somehow? If so, how? Or can I improve the reception of my MacBook Pro?
I do have an idle AirportExtreme that could be used in a solution, but I am not sure whether, or how, I could use it.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

55 ft is quite some distance, especially if you are runng 5 GHz.
Maybe it is dual band.  2.4GHz is more for distance even if a bit slower.
Adding a second router is a great idea.  Just plug it in
open your airport utility.  Automatic set up.

If you are talking about having Thai characters engraved on the physical keys,  you will need to contact some company which does that.  Or find a company that can send you a Thai keyboard to replace the one you have.

    Greetings,
I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.
    Good Luck - Cheers,
    M.
