I created and later deleted a number of Access Points in Menu > Tools > Settings > Connection > Access Points.
Although they appeared to be deleted (not listed anymore in the N91 menu system), applications such as Fring and Nimbuzz include/show all the deleted Access Points together with the current access points when listing available access points for selection.
Is there a known OS bug with access point deletion?
I'm using the latest Nokia software V2.20.008.

Back-up your important data thru' Nokia Suite . Do not include the 'SETTINGS' in the back-up. Soft Reset your phone by dialing *#7370# followed by 12345 ( default code unless set by you) when prompted. This will erase all data from the phone memory along with the Settings (..provided the device is NOT locked to any Network, and the Operator hasn't provided these settings) . After the reset Restore your data again using the Nokia Suite. Any applications that you had installed will need re-installation ...

  • How the Access Point distinguishe the client's CW??

    Hi all
according to the figur i attached, we know that when a wireless client want to send traffic to the AP (in upstream direction), this client must select back-off time between 0 and CWmin. the Client's CWmin is given by the AP via the beacon frame.
Now if we have 3 clients as shown in the figure, and they want to send different traffic, how AP distinguishe which station want to send voice, which station want to send data and which station want to send video.??? on another meaning, does the AP give all clients the same CWmin in order for them to transmit traffic to the AP???
    Please help
    Thank you

    Naoufl:
You can not have different type of services on same WLAN. Each WLAN will have it's own services.
There should be one WLAN for data, one separate WLAN for voice and a third one for Video.
When a client tries to connect to data WLAN it uses data CW timers. the same for the others.
Clients connected to same WLAN can not use different CW timers. They will always use same timers if they are connected to same WLAN.
This is why you need to separate different services under different WLANs.
    Hope this is helping.

  • Access point Nokia messaging.

    I have a N97 mini.
How to delete access points in Nokia messaging? I have the latest version. I have Internet as access point. I have set Internet to ask before connecting as I want to use  wi/fi when possible. Despite that Messaging connects with 3G without asking. In messaging there are access points I would like to erase. Is that possible? Can I setup messaging to ask before connecting?

create a new destination in connectivity settings, copy your wifi access point to it. and set messaging to use that.
There's no dignity in begging for kudos. Do it for the karma.

  • Average access points/square footage

Hi, if I need a rough estimate on how many access points a 40,000 sq. ft. building would require, can I assume 1 access-point per 100 sq. ft.? Is that right?

Nope, you cannot. Certainly not with the information provided.
100 sqft? You realize that's only a 10x10 foot chunk of real estate, right?
You probably could cover with that, but you are gonna be "challenged" to get those three channels (1, 6, 11 if you're talking 802.11g) assigned on your 400 or so APs.
It doesn't matter, even if you meant 1000 sqft or 10,000 sqft.
You don't mention if this is wide-open territory, warehouse, offices, how many floors, construction materials, environment, potential noise sources, potential band / channel conflicts, ceiling height, floor covering, number of windows, type of client, blah blah blah blah .....
Unfortunately, you can make *no* assumptions with wireless. You can't see RF, so you don't know what's "really" going on in your space.
Even you have "hyper coverage" (like 100sqft per AP), there are no guarantees; it's always a crap-shoot.
Your ONLY way to be sure of your coverage is to do a comprehensive site survey, and even then there's always a few gotchas waiting in the wings.
Make no assumptions, especially if there's reputation or money on the line. Assumptions will cost you big time in both when things get ugly.
    Good Luck

  • Public Access Point Security

    Hi,
Is it possible to extend the concept of layer 2 ethernet vlans to wifi networks, with a system that allocates a VLAN per user (allowing 4096 users) on wifi connection?
I was thinking that this could help prevent Man In The Middle attacks as any new user joining a wifi network would be on their own separate subnet isolated from every other user.
If this is achieved at the SSID level by assigning each one to a VLAN, is it possible to have this happen automatically?
Is this how public access points work already and if so how is a MITM attack launched?
    Thanks.

    yes and no.
the WLC will only take 512 interfaces so you could do that many /32 subnets if you really wanted to.  But you wouldn't be able to max out the 4096
But, what you can do, is enable Peer to Peer blocking, which disallows clients to talk to each other on the same WLAN

  • How to delete wifi access point on E7 - mails won'...

I have E7 with symbian anna. A while ago I had to restart my home wifi (due to storm) and during that process a new wifi access point (wlan(01) was created on my phone. After that - as far as I have now understood - my phone stopped syncronising gmails altogether. Also in my provider's network (outside wifi, elisa). In order for my phone to sync emails, i need to reboot it (or just turn it off and on, no need to get the three vibrations when turning off).
Question 1) How do I delete this unncecssary wifi access point on E7? I was able to do it easily on my N900 but not on this E7.
Question 2) Is it likely that the reason my phone stopped syncin gmails is related to this wifi issue? Pressing send & receive won't help, either, nothing happens. I have had this E7 for 1.5 months now, Symbian Anna I've had for 10 days and this problem started 5 days ago. Before that the mails flew in very nicely.

To remove access poit, go to settings>connectivity>settings>Destination>Internet>long hold access point and select delete.
For Gmail, don't use it, but if you remove/delete mailbox and then set it up again it should work fine, also heard that during set up if you reject terms and conditions and set up manually it works better ?

  • How do you remove a manually configured wireless access point on the iphone 4S?

I have manually configured my iPhone 4s to point to a wireless access point that I no longer use. How do I delete it from the list of access points on my iPhone?

You can only "Forget this Network" while actually connected to the network, so ignore iamjeremi's post. Other than restoring your phone as a new device, you can't if you cannot connect to the network anymore.

  • Accidentally deleted 3G access point

    Phone: Nokia 5800XM Latest Firmware
I was trying to find a way to stop myself being charged by every application automatically using my 3G. So I tried deleting it in the hope I could easily put it back later.
Now that I try, I don't know at all how to re-set-up my Vodafone 3G Access Point so I can once again use the 3g feature of my phone.
Could anyone help me please? Thanks.

    Anyone?

  • Deleting all Access Points (Network/3G/GPRS)

I'm having problems tracing 2 of my mystery access points on my N95.
I've deleted all the network assigned access points Tools > Settings > Connection > Access Points. But when I try to connect using the built-in web browser, there are still 2 Access Points showing.
How can I delete these two? The list of access points are already empty, I even deleted the WLAN connections.
    http://www.gameops.net

These are Packet-data (gprs) connections, not WLAN. Check the English manual on page 127 how to delete.

  • How do I make my AirPort Extreme a access point?

I just bought a Time Capsule and now I want to extend my range of my network.  How do I make my AE an access point?

In this case, you will want to configure both base stations in an extended network.
Dynamic WDS - Extending a Wireless Network Setup
If practical, place the base stations in near proximity to each other during the setup phase. Once done, move them to their desired locations.
Open AirPort Utility, and then, select the base station that will connect to the Internet.
Choose Manual Setup from the Base Station menu, or double-click the base station to open the configuration in a separate window. Enter the base station password if necessary.
Click AirPort in the toolbar, and then, click Wireless.
Choose “Create a wireless network” from the Wireless Mode pop-up menu, and then, select the “Allow this network to be extended” checkbox.
Next, select the base station that will extend this network, and then, choose Manual Setup from the Base Station menu, or double-click the base station to open its configuration in a separate window. Enter the base station password if necessary.
Choose “Extend a wireless network” from the Wireless Mode pop-up menu, and then, choose the network you want to extend from the Network Name pop-up menu.
Enter the base station network and base station password if necessary.
Click Update to update the base station with new network settings.
