How delete genres from genre pulldown in info in itunes 10?

I have a number of unwanted genres in the info tab / genres (caused by misstyping, recategorization, etc.). No songs have these genres anymore (I re-categorized and triple checked this), but they still appear in the info genres pull down menu. Can anyone tell me where the genres list is on my PC and how to edit it? I understand that I probably wil not be able to delete the "standard" categories that itunes comes with.

On average we're talking about a few hundred photos at a time. So the Library should have been able to cope with each deletion.
I won't argue there, but will say that experienced users recommend deleting in batches of about 100 at a time.
If the Library is "trashed", are you advising that I move the entire iPhoto Library folder to system Trash and empty?
Well that depends. Is there material still in the Library that you want to retain?

No you won't. The library and the Application are quite independent of each other. Trashing the library means just that. There would be no need to reinstall.
Note to Apple who presumably scan these discussions.

After recovering your song files, strongly consider developing a thorough backup strategy for just this type of situation.
You need at least three sets of your music:
-- One full set on the PC within iTunes
-- One full set on an external backup medium (CD/DVD/ExHD/other)
-- One (full or partial) set on the iPod
Music files on just the iPod and the computer is not considered having any backup. If you cannot store your complete music files on the computer, then create and maintain two external sets.
Backup both the music files and the Library database file (iTunes Library.itl).

I've deleted songs from my hard drive, but not itunes. How do I find the missing file entries in itunes?

The problem I have is that there are songs in my library that are no longer on my hard drive. I've either removed them or renamed them. And now, when iTunes comes across one of these song entries it gives the the prompt to locate it. I know that there used to be a way to find all these, but with all the changes in itunes 11, I have no idea how to do it now. Is there an easy way to highlight and delete all of these entries?

I would not use iTunes Match as a backup. There are too many bugs and I don't think that's what they intended it to be anyway. The main advantage of using it is to make your music available on OTHER devices, not to replace the music on your original computer.

How delete photos from photo template?

I selected the Photos template to add photos to my web site. I can't get rid of the photos or the photo space markers from the template. It comes up with a grid of three boxes with photos in them. iweb directions indicate that all I need do is drag a new photo into a photo space and the old from the template will be removed. Doesn't happen. Also on my first photo page, I only want 1 photo and can't get rid of the 3 space photo marker. ideas? suggesstions? I also don't want to be locked into a 3 photo across grid on future photo pages.

to turn blue, and it WILL make the original ones
disappear.

Thanks varkgirl, that helped. I've done that. But now can't change the size or the position of the photo. I just want one photo to fill the width of the page & be centered. I've tried clicking on the frame (?) around the blue photo frame and dragging/grabbing the edges but will only let me go so far. My photo is still postge stamp size and left justified on the page. Any other ideas?

How To "Start From Scratch" and Build a Clean iTunes Library on a Portable USB External Drive?

A while ago I posted about my confused (and confusing) mess of an iTunes:

While dozens looked I guess eveyone agreed with me "what a mess" and moved on.
So ... someone at the Apple Store suggested that what I should do is start from scratch. But I'm not sure if I understand all the steps. He said I should:
* create a folder of all my songs and just the song files not all the other iTunes stuff -- copy all the mp3 and m4a files that I have in Music > iTunes > iTunes Music > Music to a temp folder let's call it "all my music"
* launch iTunes and tell it to move to / always look at / whatever the terms my new portable external USB drive
* click on file / add to library and tell iTunes I want to add that "all my music" folder to iTunes
At this point I don't care if we lose playlists, artwork, play counts and all that stuff.
Does this approach make sense?
Is there another way?
So how do I tell iTunes to only look to the external? How do I get rid of the old stuff I have on the internal that is offering duplicates and phantom entries? Do I need to delete iTunes and then download a new copy? Should I delete the iTunes foilder? ...?
Any advice would be much appreciated.

the simplest and working way.
go to iTunes -> Preferences -> Advanced
On there change the iTunes Media Folder location to your external hard drive
Check that the rest of the preference pane looks similar to the following picture.
After doing so, on menu bar go to File -> Library -> Organize Library
This will force iTunes to copy all songs and playlist's to the new place and to build up a new database for the Library.
Empty or corrupted files will left behind on the old location.
After checking that all is on place and working at the new location, you may delete all files at the former location.

How and Where From To Get DRM Upgrades on iTunes Store (V 9).

I want to upgrade one DRM Protected song on from my Library, The help files only says to go to the iTunes store page and follow the directions there. I simply cannot find any directions on the iTunes store page about how to upgrade a track. Which screen should I be on? Where is the "secret button"?
I understand that one can only upgrade tracks which are currently, as in NOW, available on iTunes, this is not a question of a non-supported tack, its a question of finding the right pages and buttons to press.

Thanks E. I'm not seeing the link to iTunes Plus, but I think I understand the reason why. I converted all of my library to Plus, no DRM a while ago. The song I wanted to covert (Bob Sinclar: "Sexy Dancer" in on iTunes in a new version but the old one I had is no longer on the store. Is the same song, different versions though. I simply paid $0.99 and got a DRFM free one to use.
It would be interesting to see if the iTunes plus link is missing, if I have not noticed it or if it just does not show up if there are no upgrade eligible titles in the Library. Anyway, its not there for me now, and its a bit of a moot point.
