I recently connected my new iPad to my husband's iMac trying to transfer some music files: unfortunatly iTunes automatically downloaded all the music files.
Now, how can I delete this files or many of them???

The iOS will NOT automatically delete "other" if the device gets full. That is totally incorrect.
"Other" is basically all of the data and stuff that does not fit into any of the other categories on the device, like apps, photos, music, videos, and so on. It contains Safari Bookmarks and History, Notes, Contacts, Email messages, Text Messages, photos assigned to contacts, cached app data (but not documents themselves) etc. When "other" becomes too large, it can take up a lot of space and cause problems. It should not be more than a few GB at most and for most people it would probably be around 400MB - 2 GB.
IF something gets corrupted on the iPad and "other" grows out of control, you may have to restore the device in order to clear that data. One starting point troubleshooting step for dealing with the problem is to backup your iPad, restore to factory settings and then restore the backup. There are also other less invasive things that you can try first.
A Google search will turn up many articles that talk about how to reduce "other" on an iOS device.

Solved! Music was in Itunes folder but not in Media folder within that. It doesn't seem like a very user friendly system so far!

The file is just left where it was when it was connected to the library. Typically:
<User>/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music/<Artist>/<Album>/## <Name>.<Ext>
If you want to add it back just drag it into iTunes. If you want to cull the files you kept previously add the entire iTunes Media folder back into iTunes (or use one of Doug's scripts that has the same effect), then delete (and don't keep) the recent additions.
Note that warning/prompt is only issued when the files you are removing are located inside the designated iTunes Media folder.

can I delete music files from my PC without having to lose them from my ipod classic. I dont see the need to clog up disc space with all the music I own on CD's so once I have them loaded onto my ipod I would like to erase them from my pc. If I then sync my ipod will it automatically delete everything that is no longer on my pc.

If you manually manage your music, you can do what you want. Check the "Manually manage music" box on the summary page in iTunes when the iPod is connected. Keep in mind that , should you ever need to restore your iPod, you may find that you'll need to re-rip all of your CDs. You may want to consider buying an external hard drive (I just picked up a terabyte drive for less than $150) and move your iTunes library there.

I got my mp3 files from PC and transfer to iPad 2. it works good.
And I want to transfer this mp3 files from iPad to MacBook Pro.
I don't know how to do it and it seems like I should 'buy some tranfer program from other website'.
Should it word that way? or iTunes program can't deal this issue?
I have changed some music file information (such as Album, Artist, etc) of mp3 files in iPad from iTune in MacBook. Of course, the iPad was connected to the MacBook. However after I disconnected the iPad from the Mac, those changes were not shown in the iPad (edited album name, artist name...). When I connect the iPad to the Mac again, I can see the changes in iTune in the Mac.

I had a similar/same problem - when I deleted the video locally, it did not appear as a Cloud video.
To solve this, I deleted it locally, signed out of iCloud, powered of the iPad, powered back on, opened videos (empty), signed back into iCloud.
Now all my videos are present in the cloud, and none locally.

Now if you do have a Windows, or a Mac Computer, plug it into your USB on your computer and install iTunes Software. It will lManage your files through the iTunes Software. First on iTunes go to your iPad button on the top right, then click on your Menu where it Says Apps, and manually control the Files from there.
Dropbox is a helpful for a lot of this and the File Manger Pro will integrate the file management there, so it's worth the 4.99 for that option too, it also integrates with the iCloud and other Cloud option you may have.

How to transfer GB music file from iPad to iMac?

Hello to all!
Have created a music file on my iPad Mini and am unable to transfer it to my iMac through AirDrop. With WiFi and Bluetooth on for both, the iMac first shows being connected and then shows not connected to the iPad...stating that it is not supported.
Any leads?

I recently used the camera connection kit to download photos (JPEG and Raw) from my Canon G12 to my iPad. Since I have gotten home, I have been transferring the photos to iPhoto on my MacBook Pro. When I try to delete the photos from my iPad, it will delete the JPEG but not the CR2 Raw file. Since the Photos app on the iPad doesn"t "see" the Raw files, I can't delete them directly on the iPad and there doesn't seem to be any way to do it from iPhoto when my iPad is connected to my MacBook Pro. i have a new Macbook Air and an Ipod Touch. i have loaded music files onto the Ipod successfully, and separately made purchases from Itunes on my Macbook. i want to integrate the music libraries on both devices - how can this be done?

From where?
The ipod is not a sotrage/backup device. The sync is one way - computer to ipod. The exception is itunes purchases: File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
You can simply sync your ipod to the the Macbook to get the music form the macbook to the ipod

Apple's Numbers and Pages apps do that automatically, by design, through iCloud. They can also read and write their equivalent Microsoft formats.
Otherwise, you have to use the method you describe, Dropbox, or equivalent file sharing programs.
