I finally upgraded iOS for iPhone, but something went wrong, and now iTunes does not recognize the phone at all. I am guessing at some point the wireless network through which the upgrade was taking place failed.

If your iTunes is the latest version, restart your computer and reboot your iPhone. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the iPhone restart. See if that fixes your problem.

I have an iTouch with songs that are on there from my CDs as well as purchased songs from iTunes. Currently my iTouch plays all of my music. Songs with an exclamation mark against them are songs that iTunes can't find. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the files, or that the drive the live on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .

Multiple Problems: iTunes does not recognize, no music, and odd click

I went to update my iPod, and after I updated it, I went to go listen to it, and it said I had no music, no videos, no photos, nothing! But if I look at the summary of the iPod, it says there is still stuff on it, however it is now orange instead of blue, before it was blue, because of all the music.
It is also making an odd clicking noise now.
Also, iTunes does not recognize my iPod. I have attempted the 5 Rs, but I cannot restore, because my iTunes does not recognize my iPod, and I attempted the steps suggested if iTunes does not recognize the iPod, and still no luck.

i think im having the same problem, and its bull. i cant find any answers, just this 5 R stuff that definitely solves nothing. First i would plug in my ipod classic into my computer and a message would pop up saying that something has malfunctioned and i need to hook up my device to a 2.0 usb port, even though thats what it was plugged in to, so i reinstalled the drivers for the usb ports. that stoppped happening and now when i plug it in nothing happens, it turns on my ipod but itunes doesnt see it and neither does my computer! The solution (for me at least) is to keep trying the same password in iTunes on my iMac that I know is correct. For me, the fourth try of typing in the exact same password works in iTunes on my iMac. I have repeated this several times, and each time it works.
What is messing people up is that when iTunes does not recognize the correct password, people are attempting other passwords. Those other passwords are all incorrect. The problem, as you stated, is that the password was entered correctly the first time but because of iTunes having issues it does not recognize it.
People, just keep entering the password you know is correct. It will eventually recognize it, or at least this works for me. If this still does not work, reset your password (but then you may still have to enter it repeatedly in iTunes).
Apple needs to fix this.

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your phone. Only if you back up your phone manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your device without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the iPhone for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in iTunes and transferred your purchases.

Nope - you cannot restore a backup from a newer iOS version on to a device running an older iOS version. The reverse works, but in your case to use your backup, you must update to iOS 7.0.3 - no other option if you want to use that backup.
