• How to debug a Mobile client application

Hi,
How to debug a mobile client application on the laptop, where we dont have any .NET 2003 application installed. (not an MDW)
If we get any error on the application, which could be a UI error on laptop, and if everything is working fine on the MDW, is there any way to debug the application on Mobile client?
Also, please provide me links or tips on how to debug the mobile application, on MDW as well.
Regards,
Praveen.

Hi,
to be able to debug on a local machine you would need at least to install the UI/BOL class files and the project files and make some local settings.
But anyway on all clients there should be the same MSA installation like it is on the MDW so in case of an issue it is normally caused by local (inconsistent) data.
I would suggest to access the laptop IDES database by changing your MDW odbc settings and perform the debug session on the MDW.
Debugging in VB .net is similar to VB6 but you have to notice that changing of the code is NOT possible when being in debug mode.
Regards,
Wolfhard

• How to send to mobile client complaints

I'm trying to get complaints created on-line CRM5.0 to flow down to the mobile client and the field sales person that handles the BP. Do I need to create a subscription? Where in the Consumer pcakge goods application can I see these?
Thanks
Robert

I'm referring to the Mobile application Consumer package goods in CRM 5.0 SP 05. And I'm referring to complaints in the Sales area transactions.
Apparently SAP changed the functionality now where the Business object handling complaints is MSV_CMP_WRITE and not SALESDOCGEN_O_W in CRM 4.0.
The next thing is we are only sending to the laptop BPs by Territory, so the replication object for compalints don't allow to link to BP's. It seems we can only send one BP if you create the subscription for that BP. This is not good since we would have to create and support 23,000 for eac BP.
Hope this anserws the questions.

• Sockets: How can server detect that client is no longer connected?

Hi,
I really need help and advice with the following problem:
I have a Client - Server socket program.
The server listens on port 30000 using a server socket on one machine
The client connects to localhost on port 20000, previously creating an ssh port forward connection using the Jsch package from www.jcraft.com with
"session.setPortForwardingL(20000, addr, 30000);"
Then the client sends Strings to the server using a PrintWriter.
Both are connected to each other through the internet and the server uses a dynamic dns service.
This all works well until the IP address of the Server changes, The client successfully reconnects to the server using the dynamic dns domain name, but the server keeps listening on the old socket from the previous connection, while opening a new one for the new client connection. The server doesn't seem to notice that Client has disconnected because of this IP address change.
looks like the server is stuck inside the while loop. If i cut the connection manually on the client side, the server seems to notice that the client has disconnected, and jumps out of the while look (see code below)
this is the code I'm using for the server:
import java.io.BufferedReader;
import java.io.IOException;
import java.io.InputStreamReader;
import java.net.Socket;
import java.util.logging.Logger ;
public class SocketHandler extends Thread {
static Logger logger = Logger.getLogger("Server.SocketHandler");
private Socket clientSocket = null;
private BufferedReader in = null;
private InputStreamReader inReader = null;
public SocketHandler(Socket clientSocket) throws IOException {
this.clientSocket = clientSocket;
inReader = new InputStreamReader(clientSocket.getInputStream ());
in = new BufferedReader(inReader);

logger.info("currently "+ServerRunner.list.size()+" clients connected");
} catch (IOException e) {
logger.severe (e.getMessage());
e.printStackTrace();
}I've tried making the server create some artificial traffing by writing some byte every few seconds into the clients OutputStream. However I get no exceptions when the IP address changes. The server doesn't detect a disconnected socket connection.
I'd really appreciate help and advice

If a TCP/IP peer is shut down "uncleanly", the other end of the connection doesn't get the final end of connection packet, and read() will wait forever. close() sends the final packet, as will killing the peer process (the OS does the close()). But if the OS crashes or for some other reason can't send the final packet, the server never gets notification that the peer has gone away.
Like you say, one way is timeout, if the protocol is such that there always is something coming in at regular intervals.
The other way is a heartbeat. Write something to the other end periodically, just some kind of "hello, I'm here, ignore this message". The other end doesn't even have to answer. If the peer has gone away, TCP will retransmit your heartbeat message a few times. After about a minute it will give up, and mark the socket as broken. read() will then throw an IOException. You could send heartbeats from the client too, so that the client detects if the server computer dies.
TCP/IP also has a TCP-level heartbeat; see Socket.setKeepAlive(). The heartbeat interval is about two hours, so it takes it a while to detect broken connections.

• Deleting/Moving a mobile client account?

Hello -
I've changed the topic of this question after reading the entries here that matched 'move mobile client', now I'd like to know not only how to move a mobile client to a different server, but potentially how to delete one and go back to local home directories.
Two weeks ago I began my second annual attempt to install Mac OS X Server, this time using 10.6 with the 10.6.3 Combo. One of the reasons I've pursued Server is to try the Mobile Accounts feature.
I completed configuring a few days ago, set up my laptop as a mobile account and synced it to the server. I realized immediately that the tool would not support a 30+ gigabyte home directory and disabled syncing while I continued testing other features.
Yesterday I blew away the lab installation and started over following a failed attempt to re-name the server to match the production name of the machine it may someday be installed as if it ever moves into production.
After a day of building the machine back up from scratch I attempted to connect to it with my laptop, which had been configured as a mobile client of the now dead and long gone lab machine. Thinking that I might simply tell the client that it was now paired with a new server appears to have been naive in the extreme.
Now I would appreciate any pointers to documentation that details the procedures for both un-pairing a client account to a server and returning control of the horizontal and vertical to it, and possibly re-pairing it to a new server (just in case it makes me really mad again and I decide to sell it into slavery).
I can't seem to find this in the manuals.
Thanks,
Scott.

Ah. Simple if you know where to look it seems.

My faith is restored.

• Telephone numbers (officePhone and homePhone) are missing in a contact card in a Lync Server 2013-based Lync mobile client

In my opinion, the error has not completely fixed in KB2967628. After I install the latest November 2014 cumulative
update. I see the following behavior. User A searches for user B. User B never sign in to the Link. There are three fields in the active directory for User B: officePhone, mobilePhone and homePhone (these fields contain different numbers). When searching on
the mobile client (Android/IOS) for user B – as result user A see only mobile number. If User B At least once will go to Link (sign in) when his search will work, (find officePhone). If User B will change, the privacy settings for user A is in the search will
be displayed homePhone field.
On the Desktop client,
I can find all the fields without those actions performed in the example. If I make a request
to the service UCWA manually like this (below
the text) before
actions, which I performed in example, I did not receive officePhone and homePhone – only mobilePhone field.
GET "https://lync.domainname:443/ucwa/oauth/v1/applications/XXXX/people/search?query=$usename$&limit=200" -H "Content-Type: application/json" -H "Accept: application/json" -H "Authorization: $USENAMETOKEN$"

Hi,
Based on your description, I’m sorry I’m a little confused about the following you mentioned. I understand the issue is we can only see the mobile number in the contact card on Lync mobile client and that we can search for users based on their office number,
we can see the home phone field in the contact card but there isn’t number showing. I anything I have misunderstood, please feel free to let us know.
“When searching on the mobile client (Android/IOS) for user B – as result user A see only mobile number. If User B At least once will go to Link (sign in) when his search will work, (find officePhone). If User B will

According to the KB29677628, this issue is caused by UCWA only sending the work number, and we need to install the update for web components server

Hi Meer,
In addition , you need to use external virtual switch for these VMs that are used for RDP connection from clients .

well, since I feel kinda bad for just re-posting the link to the API docs previously posted by supermicus I shall elaborate - though, since my reading for comprehension skills are clearly lacking, I will not attempt to teach you to read.
This conversation should be held in the "New to Java Technology" forum, BTW.
Java derives a lot of its power from the huge library of classes that ships with it, which is called the API. These classes are grouped into packages roughly along functional lines, so you should expect to see some relationship between the classes found in a given package - the java.net.* classes all pertain to networking. The API documentation describes three things about each class - fields that are available, constructors that you can use, and methods that you can call. Basically, anything at all that you can do with a given class (ThreadGroup, for instance) can be found in the documentation for that class. Typically (for non-static classes), you call the constructor that seems most appropriate via the "new" keyword, and, using the reference returned from that, you call the method that does what you want. It's all outlined in the docs.
If you don't get what you need from the docs, then read the appropriate Tutorial (also in the list of links to the left of your screen) find the one on Threads and off you go.
I hope this helped.

• Mobile devlopment workstation and Mobile client install on same server

Hi,
Can we install Mobile development workstation and mobile client on same server?
I have already installed mobile development workstation , but when i try to install mobile client on same server it says that add,remove ,modify option install screen. It lis not allowing me to enter new screen.
Any idea.
- tom

When you install the MD Workstation you are opted to choose among different applications i.e. mobile sales, mobile service, mobile system maintenance or authorization management tool. You can there choose the application to install besides the installation of the MD Workstation.
If you want to add application(s) later, you have to choose 'modify' and choose all parts for the MD Workstation plus the applications. If you omit options chosen before when doing the first installation then these will be removed. So be shure to choose ALL relevant things for the application as well as for the MD Workstation.
You can also generate the application from the installed repository, there are several notes on this subject available ('how to generate an application') which are referred to in about any installation guide or note changing the msa coding.

• How to control one server with multiple clients via TCP/IP

I am wanting to control a single server with multiple clients. Only one client would be active at a time, so there would be no conflict. I want to use TCP/IP. So far, I have programmed a cluster that passes data back to the server with no problems. The challenge come in when a second client is added to the mix. I have't been able to figure out how to turn each client on and send the appropriate data and then turn it off so it doesn't keep sending the same data to the server.
Here are the things that I have considered and did some preliminary testing, but don't really know how to impliment:
1. Send a numeric on the front of the cluster packet that tells the server that data is on the way.
2. Send a boolean on the front of the cluster packet to somehow turn the server TCP/IP on.
The problem I have found is that LabVIEW TCP/IP doesn't like to be turned on and off. If it doesn't get the data it expects, it goes into a reset mode and that kills the response time.
Any help?

You should consider implementing a set of simple one-byte commands that can be sent back and forth between the Server and the Clients. You can base all of these ideas off the example in the Example Finder under Networking >> TCP and UDP called Multiple Connections - Server.
You will have two loops in the server VI: one to wait for new connections, and one to send and receive data from the existing connections. For instance, after one of the clients connects, it can request control of the server to send data to it by sending the character "R" for request. Every time the send/receive loop of the Server executes, the first thing it can do is to check all the existing connections to see if any of the clients have sent a control request ("R"). If so, it will create a buffer (array) of control requests. This could be in the form of Connection IDs or indexes in the array for a particular Connection ID. Your choice.
After the Server receives a request for contol, if it is not already under control by another client, then it can send a response to the first client on the control request list. For instance, the server could send the first client a "S" command for send. Note that after the clients send their control request, they should execute a TCP Read and wait indefinitely for the server to respond with the one-byte "S" command. Then, once the client in control is finished sending data to the server, it could send the character "X" telling the Server to release it from control.
The example I mentioned above already does a similar thing. Note how when a client wants to disconnect, they send the letter "Q". You can see this in the Multiple Connections - Client VI. The Server then checks each individual connection to see if it's received this one-byte command, and if it has, it closes the connection to the client. This is what you would want to implement, but instead of having just one command, you'll have to distinguish between a few and build up a buffer of control requests.
Finally, if a client does decide to disconnect in your application, they could send the command "Q" just like the example above. At this point, close the connection and remove that Connection ID from the array of connections. You will also have to handle the case that this client was in the request control waiting line when it disconnected, in which case you need to delete it from that array as well.
This will definitely work for you, but it will take some work. Best of luck!
