How did my Air get Hijacked?

I hope this is the correct section for this question.
I was trying to use my MBA in an Airport lounge when very strange things started to happen. The cursor started to erratically select things on the screen, jumping around on its own and both left and right clicking. It would not reliably respond to the trackpad and trackpad button, sometimes behaving almost normally, others ignoring me completely. The best way to describe what was happening would be to say that someone else was controlling my cursor.
My question is, how?
Bluetooth was switched off and the firewall was fully locked down and just for good measure Little Snitch was running as well. I was connected to the internet by a public access free WiFi point. There was someone else close by using the same WiFi using a PC and a PCMIA card with external antenna, but surely that would just jam the network connection if it did anything at all, not take over my cursor? The guy was not using a wireless mouse but was playing a grid type game with mouse movements that looked suspiciously like what was happening on my screen. Swithing off airport brought everything back to normal (when I finally got the cursor to the right part of the screen for long enough.)
So, what happened, and how do I stop it, other than by changing my seat, which is what I did...

It was Xi'an in China and no, it was not a pay WiFi, it was the complementary WiFi in the First Class lounge (ahem...upgraded...ahem.) I am reasonably sure it was the real network, no other network showed up in Airport Connect.
Little Snitch did not show any untoward outbound activity. I am more than a little concerned that with the OS X Firewall on and absolutely nothing enabled, Bluetooth Off and nothing, not even a power cord, physically plugged in, something/someone could take over the mouse. It is not even a case of going to a malware page as I didn't have enough control of anything to go to anywhere other than Command-Q.
Symptoms survived a Restart, i should have mentioned that earlier. I am still convinced that the interference was coming from the guy close by me, but I am totally at a loss as to how.

  • Wrong phone listed as returned and still paying for returned phone, how did I finally get a credit?

I went to the Rancho Santa Margarita store back in February. On the 16th I switched to the Edge program and added my boyfriend. We bought 2 phones under the Edge, however, we needed to return his phone the next day due to no service at his work.
The sales representative was great and returned the phone, however, on the receipt he listed my phone as being returned. I have been back to the store twice to get it fixed, called them multiple times as well and still no credit for the phone I no longer have in my possession.
I finally did a live chat with a representative online with Verizon and he said he would look into and take care of it. But recently, I received an email from him saying that there is no record that the phone was returned so I would need to go back to the store that apparently won't or can't help me either.
It is obvious that the wrong phone was listed on the return receipt since I am using the returned phone listed on my receipt and still paying for it as well. The other phone I am paying for is not even connected to a phone number. So it should be common sense and obvious that the wrong phone was listed as being returned because how could it be if I am using still using the phone that was apparently returned and it is connected to my phone line.
I have spent hours trying to get this resolved and have now paid $275.12 on a phone that is in Verizon's possession but they won't and/or don't care to acknowledge the mistake on their part of listing the wrong phone returned.
How can I finally get this resolved and get my money back? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I have never had bad customer service until now and would hate to cancel my account, but am very close to that point.

Ok so I am still perplexed by this situation and why Verizon chooses to ignore my pleas to help me get a refund for a phone that I no longer possess since I returned it to them the next day. I am still having to pay for this phone and am getting extremely upset at this situation.
To make matters worse since I posted about this situation at the end of January, I did have one person contact me from Verizon and ask me for more information. I provided that information and have not heard back as well as now all receipts related to this incident have been removed from my account. Well I did keep a copy of these on my computer and on several zip drives so I still have the proof of them continuing to charge me for two phones when it shows a receipt of one being returned even though they listed the wrong one.
I sure hope this was a mistake and not a cover up to try and eliminate all evidence of this mistake.
Should I go to the better business bureau with this issue? Has anyone else had a similar situation and if so how did you finally get it resolved.
Thank you in advance for your information and suggestions.

  • How did my iPhoto get locked

How did my iPhoto get locked.  I attached a photo to a yahoo email.  Is yahoo involved (as usual)

I'll guess at what you're on about:
    Couple of things to try:
Restart your mac and try launch iPhoto again.
    If that fails:
Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for a file called ‘iPhoto’Lock.data or similar. Drag it to the Desktop. Make no other changes. Start iPhoto. Does that help?
If not: Where is your iPhoto Library stored? If it's on an External Disk, what format is that?

  • Bloodwork Results incorrect - How did this record get entered into my HealthVault?

I recently had bloodworm done at LabCorp and viewed my results online in my HealthVault.  Shortly thereafter, another record, dated December 10, 2013, appeared in my HealthVault.  How did this record get into my HealthVault?  The record
was a result of testing done by LifeLine Screening, but, when contacted, they said that they DID NOT put that record in my HealthVault.  They asked if I had given my LifeLine Screening report to any doctors.  I did, in fact, give my record to my
doctor on Feb. 3, 2014.  I then contacted that Doctor's office and they stated that the record from LifeLine Screening had NOT been entered into their system as of yet (Their system is Ochsner)  So, I don't know how the LifeLine Screening test results
got into my HealthVault online.  Also, there is a discrepancy in the LifeLine Screening report that they sent me directly through the mail, and the results that appear in my HealthVault.  My eGFR on the LifeLine Screening report from 12-10-2013 is
"55", whereas, the result in the HealthVault record reflects "eGFR If NonAfricn Am 61"  How do you explain this?

    Hello Rose,
My name is Josh, I'm a member of the HealthVault support team, I work closely with Tomas whom initially responded to your concerns.  I was hoping to find out whether there was anything we could do to assist you in resolving this issue.  Your
concerns are extremely important to us, and we want to ensure this has been resolved.  We're a very responsive team, and I've taken this issue on as a personal concern, but I don't yet have enough information to continue investigating.  If this has
been rectified to your satisfaction or is no longer occurring, we'd really appreciate you letting us know how it was resolved and/or what may have changed.  Just a quick response in this thread would be terrific.
If this is still an issue that you're seeing, following Tomas's instructions about creating a ticket would be very valuable and would help provide us the information we need to move our investigation forward.
We hope to hear from you soon Rose

  • How did my site get hacked?

Earlier this week, 7 sites on 3 different servers (Go-daddy, Lunar Pages, and another ) were allegedly hacked and blocked in Firefox, Chrome and Google search results.
I use iObit and advanced system care to keep my pc clean. My pc, as scanned by these programs has no malware. I have over 40 sites in my Dreamweaver site definitions
On 6 of the sites, I removed everything on the server, re-uploaded the sites and requested a review.
On 1 of the sites, the hosting provider scanned the site and found nothing.
On 1 of the sites, I did nothing and requested a review.
    All 7 sites were restored/unblocked.
I've spent hour upon hour researching including but not limited to stopbadware.org and antiphishing.org and can't figure out how/why this happened and since my pc is allegedly clean,
    I am wondering:
    A) if there is a security hole in the Dreamweaver communications with Adobe.
    B) They were false Positives =( My webmaster tools currently say Google has not detected any malware on this site.)
I've always practiced "safe computing" and don't know what else to do to prevent this from happening again.
Has anyone else had a problem such as this recently?

Sites, especially popular ones, often become targets to hackers & robots who find vulnerabilities on the server or in your forms & scripts which allows them to inject malicious code into web pages.  I had this happen about 2 years ago on a  dedicated server.   Fortunately, the files on my local drive were clean so I was able to replace the remote site in a few hours.
How did it happen?  According to the hosting company nothing was wrong at their end.  So we may never know exactly how the hackers got in.   The server hosted 5 sites at the time but only one site was hacked.
WordPress and other open source frameworks are especially attractive to hackers. If you use  PHP & MySql, take necessary security precautions.
Use strong passwords for everything.  A minimum of 17 characters,  alpha-numeric, upper & lower, with symbols.  If you can remember your passwords, they're not strong enough.  Write them down.  And change your passwords regularly.
Consider getting Secure Live which stops & blocks attackers IP addresses and sends them to the FBI's database.  https://www.securelive.com/
    Good luck!
    Nancy O.

  • How did this person get my forum userid?

If you look at this thread:
    Re: Rebuild indexes?
The third post was a reply to me, but the poster referred to my forum userid (ericch2) instead of my handle (SomeoneElse).
How did that happen? Shouldn't the userid remain invisible?
When I look at my control panel, I can't see the userid anywhere. Where did it come from?

Sorry... I used the "Quote Original" button... and your name was displayed there (as you can see into my first posted message).
When I was reading again my last post... I asked myself from where damn hell I took this name to answer you, and I simply thought that I've used a wrong name copied from another post.
For some reason it's working fine now...

  • How did random contacts get on my iphone 5?

I just got my phone one week ago and my contacts were perfect now there are 100 email contacts that I've never heard of. Any ideas???

Yes to Facebook but these email are not from anyone I recognize.  I did recently add my work email to my iphone but again these random emails were not contacts there. I may try deleting my work email and see if they disappear.
I don't share and Apple ID with anyone.

  • How did "inspect element" get on my right click menu?

I did install several addons when this appeared. Anyone know from where this right click menu item came? My search suggested "firebug" - whatever that is. This is not on my XP but it is on my Vista and both have the same addons.
    Thanks

"Inspect Element" is a new item that is added in Firefox 10.<br />
Previous Firefox version do not have the build-in inspector.

  • How did you all get your new alum iMacs so quickly?

As you can see from my profile, it it time for a new Mac! I have been told by various Mac suppliers in my area that they would not get their shipments of alum iMacs until the end of August. I tried to get one through the Apple online store, same release date.
However, since reading this forum, as well as the display forum, I am starting to have second thoughts, due to the calibration and screen quality issues.
Could it be that Apple is delaying shipments now, because they are busy fixing the bugs in the screen?
    Any thoughts? Thanks!

    Thanks for the replies, folks.
+A handful of people who do not actually own a new iMac have generated a large number of posts about glossy screens and color matching between the iMac monitor and paper printing being unsuitable for professional graphics design work. It's a tempest in a teapot as far as the rest of us go.+
I am beginning to agree with this statement! It is easy getting caught in "the tempest" while one is reading all the various posts. It is heartening to read more and more posters having positive experiences with the new iMacs. I am not a graphic artist, designer, nor a professional photographer. I do use iphoto and photoshop to "tweak" my family photos. I also enjoying tinkering with idvd and imovie with my kids. My son especially enjoys making stop action Lego movies! My PowerPC has handled these tasks admirably, yet slowly, so it is time to move on.
I don't rush into any purchase of this sort without extensive research and reading. I obviously get full value out of my computer purchase (10+ years since the last one), and I don't feel the need to buy another computer anytime soon.
Now I just need to decide on the 20" or the 24". Any thoughts?
