How did they do this effect in photoshop?

I love this effect, but cannot figure out how they made these darker brown lines around their tables (kind of a whisked broken up lines) around their tables. I have tried every brush tool and effect I could think of, but know need to ask the experts! Thank you very much in advance. Buffmin
here is the link.....

Looks to me like the table borders are separate partially transparent GIF files.
Check this file, for example: http://roccospizzaandsubs.com/assets/images/Appetizers_Back.gif
Just a guess, but they may have made an image with texture, then painted on a mask to make it transparent.  The trick is positioning it in the HTML so that it overlays the background and properly aligns with the text.

How did they get this effect of the dots on her face....?
    Thanks in advance...

Cool video. I'd say that everything is done in After Effects, including the 'dots' on her face.
It's a simple effect filter you can apply.

  • How did they create this effect?

    Hi everyone!
I'm trying to duplicate the effect on layer 2 so I can apply it to different text layers. (please see attached file below) Instead of "You", I want to write "Get". When I change the text to "Get" I want to make sure layer 2 changes to "Get" as well. I'm lost because I don't know how to do it.
Thanks very much for your time and any ideas and suggestions.

When one wants two layers to show the same content Smart Objects are the tool of choice.
In attached file I created a SO of the text-layer, duplicated it and applied a different Layerstyle to that.
To change the text one can open the SO (by double-clicking its symbol in the Layers Panel), make the changes and save it.

  • How did they acheive this?

Hi folks. I'm just designing for Flex, so I dont know any code or anything like that. I'm doing a Photoshop mockup of a Flex design. I'm new to Flex, so this might be a noob question.
In the flex style explorer I noticed some nice looking curved highlights at the top of the containers.
    How did they do this?

Could I put an FXG inside an application controlbar as well?
Yes, if it's a Spark application. Components have skins. Spark component skins can contain fxg graphics. The programmer will have to create a new skin for the application component.
You should check out Flash Catalyst. It's a tool for creating Flex application designs without writing code.
You create the design and send the Catalyst project to the programmer
The programmer imports the poroject and writes the code

  • Rounded corners in Ubuntu - how did they do this?

How did they do this? Is this some kind of hack for GTK+?

doesnt need to be a change of GTK theme/engine.
metacity can grab colours from GTK. take a look at the edges of the menu bar and all that spacing, metacity is using a wide border to allow it to be rounded, and grabbing the GTK theme's colour to appear seamless.
    Aha! Thanks James!

  • How do I achieve this effect in Photoshop CS5?

    Hi all,
I'm using Photoshop CS5 and I'd like to know how can I achieve the following effect: I have a full color picture of a woman, like the one below, and I would like to replicate this effect in which the full color woman is blended with the background turning her into purple and black only.
I'm a newbie, and I am not too familiar with the 'channels' concept, so I would appreciate some specific reply -not necessarily step-by-step but almost, lol!
    Thanks a lot in advance!

Instead of using channels, you can convert your image to black and white then create a new layer and fill that layer with your color of choice, then either use the blend modes and/or reduce the opacity until it looks good to you.
Another way is use the black and white adjustment layer and enable the colorize check box and choose purple.
If I recall the hue/saturation/luminance adjustment layer also has a colorize check box. (I would check but I am in the process of redoing my drive)

  • How did they do this? I want to do it too.

My question is about load times.
I want to do an artist's website that would work similar to
    http://www.gagosian.com/exhibitions/2009-03-14_richard-phillips/#/images/9/
Their big image on the right starts off at 806K but when you check the load time of it on UIT it shows less than 30K with a really fast load time.
When I optimize my test image I can get it down to about 125K- real slow and doesn't look great.
So then I thought I could link it to Photobucket - loads just as slow.
Here's my test page - still has Photobucket link
    http://www.allencsmith.com/untitled10.html
How are they getting the photo to load so fast? How would I optimize my photo to behave as nicely as theirs. Thanks.

  • How did they make the effects in this music video?

Hi everyone. I've been watching this amazing video thats on Youtube for an electro band called Lifelike. The Song is called So Electric, I believe this isn't even an official video of theirs but some fan put something together which is very very visually striking. The video is here:-
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G22X5X49VhM
I'm not a beginner with Adobe Premiere Pro, but I don't yet use After Effects. My main educated guesses as to what the editor did some blending of clips with partially translucant opacity, changed numerous colour channels around... they used old VHS footage too. On the thread underneath the video, supposedly he used Imovie to edit it, which is quite basic as far as I'm aware...
Anyone able to take a good guess?

I found out that some of the original footage was made using an analogue system called Scanimate, so that answers part of my question. However I still want to know how the editor blended together the different clips and added in aditional effects- anyone?

  • How do I do this effect in Photoshop?

Just wondering if any of you knew how to do this?
About a year ago a made a wallpaper using GIMP and combined this image
    http://img541.imageshack.us/img541/2770/24908918.jpg
    with this image
    http://img687.imageshack.us/img687/4079/57783055.jpg
    and got this image
    http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/3531/68957031.jpg
I don't remember what I did and was just wondering if there is a way to do it in Photoshop.

Select the grey text and lines. move on to a new layer (Ctrl+J) and apply a Bevel and Emboss layer effect with a chisel technique, then drag that image into the red one and set it to Overlay mode.
    Experiment!

  • How would I emulate this effect (the Photoshop flash Website)

    Hi there,
I'm wondering how to create this 3D effect as seen on the adobe website.
    http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/family/?promoid=BPDEK
I want to simulate the 3D rotate effect with some images of a product I have. I'm fairly new to 3D compositing in AE and I'm wondering if maybe someone could point me the direction a proper tutorial.
    Thanks.

Parent the layers to a Null, spread them out in a circle. Rotate the Null. Set the auto-orient of the layers to always face the camera.

  • How did they create this component.. suggestions please

    Hello,
Please spend 3 minutes to watch this video and reply..Thanks a lot!!
    http://www.youtube.com/user/PracticeFusion#p/u/13/S1gQDHsmUqo
here i've seen a flex calendar (go to 1.49 minute) they have a weekly view of the calendar. I would like to know how they did this. Please it is urgent.!!

    saisri2k2,
Our component is designed to be extensible.  To make it look like it does in the video, you'd have tocreate a custom dayRenderer to displays and styles your data elements.
You can check our documentation for information on the APIs and how to modify, or replace, our default look::
    http://www.flextras.com/Calendar/docs/FlextrasCalendarDocumentation.pdf
It's not trivial, but it shouldn't be hard either.  We'd be more than willing to work with you as a customer to make it work.
Feel free to contact us directly if you wanted to discuss further ( http://www.flextras.com/?event=ContactForm )

  • How did they make this video (link is here)

    Hi.
I spotted this video about a property for sale and I wonder how they got the movie to be so large (it fills the screen). It doesn't seem to be a QT or WM file.
Can anyone shed any light on how to do this, as I'd like to show wedding video demos in this way.
    http://video.vividas.com/SmashPop/rwdb_4parsleyrd/
    Thanks in advance.
I know it's off topic - but I bet many people would like to know how to do this. Sorry for any offence.

Search for AS3 tutorials on google and gothru the tutorials about to loading external swf, images, audio and video. I recommended one of the good website to know the things from:
    http://www.republicofcode.com/tutorials/
For every tutorials explanation on the syntax is very clear. goahead! Success behind you!

I was wondering if anyone knows how they got the photos in
the background to be full screen. I am trying to do the same thing
only I will have both vertical and horizontal photos and want to

I like Tweener myself, and that would be really easy by
    tweening the image
