How did this post contradict the TOS?

I have already tried sending an email to [email protected], but received no reply. I couldn't find any other point of contact for questions about the discussions forum, so here is my question which I'm hoping one of the moderators here can answer:
Dear Apple,
I received this email from you recently and decided to go ahead and read your terms of service. I am confused as to what part of your TOS I am not conforming to with my post?
Furthermore, when I wanted to make a query about this matter, I was shocked to find there is no publicly available e-mail support for Apple. If I have any questions/complaints in future about how the Communities forum is managed, where should I direct these questions?
Regards,
xxxxx

Subject: Apple Support Communities - Post Removed by Host
To: xxxxxxxxxxx
Dear xxxxxxxx,
Recently you made a post to Apple Support Communities that discussed inappropriate activities. We have removed your post, titled "How do I download torrents on iPad 2?" which is included for your reference below. Please take a moment to read your post as well as our terms of use at https://discussions.apple.com/static/apple/tutorial/tou.html. We encourage you to use these forums as a resource, and we ask that you keep your post within the terms of use.
Best Regards,
Apple Support Communities staff ++++++++++ A copy of your message for reference: I can't find anything in the app store. Is there any inbuilt functionality in one of the apple applications? Or is there an app that can do this for me? This message is sent from a send-only email account. Any replies sent to this address are deleted automatically by the system.

This is a guess, but I don't think the problem with the post was that it asked about torrents per se, but rather that it asked about downloading them to an iPad rather than to a Mac.
If you do a forum search for torrents, and even a search for downloading torrents you will see many hits for prior posts on various Mac boards, all permitted by the hosts. As has been mentioned, torrents are legal, and have legitimate uses as well as being used by software pirates.
I think that the difference may be that use of a torrent client by a Mac computer does not involve any violation of the operating system EULA - Mac OS X natively supports this software. And also, of course, a Mac user is free to obtain legal 3rd-party software without going through Apple.  The iPad's iOS however, is normally a "closed" system, with all software required to come via the App Store. Trying to get around this restriction is a EULA violation, and the offending post may have been interpreted as such an attempt. To me, though,  the question as worded seemed innocent:
I can't find anything in the app store. Is there any inbuilt functionality in one of the apple applications? Or is there an app that can do this for me?
I think this could have been answered by someone simply saying "No, Apple doesn't allow downloading torrents on iOS devices" rather than by removing the question altogether.

You need to add the new photos to the ones that are currently on the iPad and (re-)sync them all - only the most recent photo sync remains on the iPad, not including photos in a subsequent sync is how you delete them from the iPad (as you've found out).
You can use third-party apps such as Simple Transfer which can copy photos to the Photos app via your wifi network, but they will only go into the Saved Photos/Camera Roll album, and not into a 'proper' album.

So if the solution recommended by Ralph is not working then the other option is this:
Please make sure that the emails work correctly when signed into, on a computer
Then delete the account off your phone - you will not lose the emails
    Reset the phone
Re add the account back in and see if that helps the issue
    Thanks

  • HT4528 My iphone just lost all of my contacts seemingly out of nowhere, how did this happen?  How can I fix it?

My iphone just lost all of my contacts.  How did this happen and how can i get them back??

If they're gone from icloud.com, then they aren't in iCloud.  You could try waiting a while to see if this was caused by a server glitch and they will reappear.  You could also try contacting Apple support to see if there is anything they can do at their end: http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/contact/.
Otherwise, you may be able to restore them by restoring your last iCloud backup.  Doing this is a bit tricky, as you have to interrupt the restore process as soon as your phone restarts while restoring, either by putting it in airplane mode or pulling the internet connection to your router.  If you don't, iCloud will overwrite and erase any restored calendars.  Then you can disable iCloud calendar syncing and save the calendars to your phone, re-enable your wifi connection and let the restore process proceed, delete any existing calendars from icloud, and turn on icloud syncing on your phone again to upload the recover calendars to iCloud.  This process is explained in this user tip from Winston Churchill: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4841.  While this was written for contacts, just replace calendars for contacts and for the same instructions.

Both phones were iPhone 4s and everyone was with different carriers.

Simple process. If an iPhone go to the Apple Store and not Verizon
the phone from Verizon will be a refurbished device and not new unless under the 14 day worry free guarantee
    good luck

Your documents were synched with iCloud when you logged in with your AppleID.   If you had a photostream before, you could access some photos using the stream.

  • Bloodwork Results incorrect - How did this record get entered into my HealthVault?

I recently had bloodworm done at LabCorp and viewed my results online in my HealthVault.  Shortly thereafter, another record, dated December 10, 2013, appeared in my HealthVault.  How did this record get into my HealthVault?  The record
was a result of testing done by LifeLine Screening, but, when contacted, they said that they DID NOT put that record in my HealthVault.  They asked if I had given my LifeLine Screening report to any doctors.  I did, in fact, give my record to my
doctor on Feb. 3, 2014.  I then contacted that Doctor's office and they stated that the record from LifeLine Screening had NOT been entered into their system as of yet (Their system is Ochsner)  So, I don't know how the LifeLine Screening test results
got into my HealthVault online.  Also, there is a discrepancy in the LifeLine Screening report that they sent me directly through the mail, and the results that appear in my HealthVault.  My eGFR on the LifeLine Screening report from 12-10-2013 is
"55", whereas, the result in the HealthVault record reflects "eGFR If NonAfricn Am 61"  How do you explain this?

    Hello Rose,
My name is Josh, I'm a member of the HealthVault support team, I work closely with Tomas whom initially responded to your concerns.  I was hoping to find out whether there was anything we could do to assist you in resolving this issue.  Your
concerns are extremely important to us, and we want to ensure this has been resolved.  We're a very responsive team, and I've taken this issue on as a personal concern, but I don't yet have enough information to continue investigating.  If this has
been rectified to your satisfaction or is no longer occurring, we'd really appreciate you letting us know how it was resolved and/or what may have changed.  Just a quick response in this thread would be terrific.
If this is still an issue that you're seeing, following Tomas's instructions about creating a ticket would be very valuable and would help provide us the information we need to move our investigation forward.
We hope to hear from you soon Rose

Why can I no longer, after having downloaded Lion, write accents and other diacriticals when in the Google, Yahoo, FaceBook, or even here in this post? The new method for getting at the "option" symbols works fine in other places like spotlight, but now even the older "option+letter" doesn't work in most places.

Chrome doesn't support the new accent/diacritics/macron chooser. I'm not sure about other browsers such as Firefox. You can use the old Option+letter combination that Doug suggested. Hopefully updates will solve these little incompatibilities shortly.

A better way is to select the photos in iPhoto and export to a desk top folder, right click on it and burn to disk

  • TS1717 unes, i have windows 8, i get the message, "the itunes Library .itl file is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission for this file.  how did this happen, how do i fix this?

the message"The itun, library .itl file is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission for this file". i have windows 8. how why did this happen? how do i correct this and prevent another occurance?  I am able to access itunes on my i5, ipad, and my old i4 that i use solely as my ipod now. At the time  problem occurred, i was connected to ext hard drive that hold over 190GB music, to add to my library. I am now unable to add to my library using my laptop.  any advise/help is greatly appreciated!!

I just had the same problem and was able to fix it after trying a couple of things I found after a search.
The solution that worked for me:
Find iTunes folder - it should be in C:\Program FIles (x86) or similar depending on your operating system
Right click the entire folder (no need to open it) and click properties
    Click the security tab
Click edit and highlight the user name under which you logged in.
Click the box next to full in the allow column, which should check everything
    Click apply
    Open iTunes
    This worked for me.

  • How did Apple screw up the maps app this badly?

I am normally not a complainer, but rather appreciate great technology.
However, I am shocked beyond description about how badly Apple screwed up the maps application in IOS 6.
The maps application is the by far the most frequently used and most useful iphone application for me.
I rely on it all the time.  It WAS so incredibly easy to use, and almost always dependable.
Yes, turn-by-turn directions would be nice, but not at the cost of screwing up so many other critical features.
I have now had 2 extremely frustrating experiences.
The other night, I was driving home from work and using the maps application to route to a store.  I was using the voice instruction mode.  There was heavy traffic so I wanted to zoom out / around to look for alternate routes.  Well, this is almost impossible to do, and furthermore, there is much less accurate and detailed information about traffic conditions.  This would have been a piece of cake with the old maps application.
Yesterday, I had to make a trip to Pacific Sales in San Jose.I tried "Pacific" with the mapped zoomed to the general area, and it could not find it.Then I tried "Pacific sales", again no luck.  Its an appliance store, so I tried "appliances", and again no luck.
Finally, I had to log into the web, go to google maps, and find it there.
It was slow, but it worked!
1 month ago, I had the highest confidence in Apple due to their track record of deliverying great stuff that works and is easy to use.
I would never have considered an android phone.
However, this problem with the maps app has so shaken my confidence in Apple, that I will go today to look at a Samsung Galaxy III.
Maybe its not going to be my thing, but I hope Apple realizes how big they screwed up.
The Apple of Steve Jobs would never, ever, ever have let this happen.
The old Apple would have stayed with Google Maps for another year, and made this new maps app better, more reliable, and more user friendly than Android BEFORE releasing it.  It would have been revolutionarily good and would have surprised us with how good it was.
I really truly love Apple and its products.
But this is a really bad mistake and I am so fearful that its an omen of whats to come in future from Apple.
I would not be surprised if this very deeply damages Apple at a time when the competition is getting tougher & tougher.
Of all the functions on the Apple Iphone, the maps are the heart and soul.  Apple is probably right to go its own way eventually, but not like this!
It is just going to drive people into the arms of Android.
I am just curious, did Apple actually test this thing thoroughly before releasing it?
I mean, it took me only a few days to figure out this thing is total crap.
How did Apple not know this (which is a very scary thought), or maybe even more scary, maybe they did know but feel they have enough market power to get away with it?  I can't think of any other explanations. So, which is it?  Either way, its very bad news for Apple fans.

Ok, 3 more wonderful IOS 6 maps experiences to share!
When out shopping for paints, decided to visit Kelly Moore.
Used the maps app and used it to take me to the nearest store, except it was not where maps said it would be!
I called the Kelly Moore store, and they told me the maps app has the wrong town, and they have had many customers with the same problem!
Next up, I was looking for a Sherwin Williams store in San Jose, so maps took me to El Camino Real, except it took me to the wrong end of El Camino Real in Santa Clara, about 15 minutes from the right destination in Mountain View!  In fact, the app took me to Santa Clara University!
Last up, I was looking for a Chevron station.  Apps routed me to the location, but no gas station.
So, I finally decide to use google maps through the browser, and it ends up it was again the right address but wrong city!!!!
Unbelievable!  My confidence in Apple has been further shaken, to where I am about to give up.
I just can't trust their app, which is something I depend on every day to save me time, money and gas.
So disappointed in Apple right now...  It makes antenna gate look like a minor incident, which it was in my opinion!

  • I sorted my worksheet and it saved the sort without asking if I wanted to save it!  How did this happen?

I am on a mac mini OS X Yosemite using Numbers 3.5.2.
I opened an existing spreadsheet, sorted one of the columns, then closed it out so I could open it and it would no longer be sorted (the sort screwed up all my headings), and the sort was saved!  Why did it save my sort without asking if I wanted to save the changes?
