How did you know your idevice will be activation lock ?

I bought used iPad mini (only the body) at present it's work well I could use my Apple ID, buy some apps and update the FW via OTA. I heard from amny person If I restore and maybe it could not work unless I do not know the username and password of the previous owener (Activation Locked). My iPad mini will be a piece of junk only.
My question is how did I know my current iPad mini will be Activation Locked if I do the restore ? Do we have the method to check ?

And how should I know my device was enabled the Find my Phone already ?
The way to know would be to look in the iCloud settings to see if Find My iPhone is set. If you can't set into those settings, then it's highly probable that it's set and hence Activation Lock will be in effect.
Because If the previous was never enable it, it should be ok from Activation lock right ?
If you are certain that the previous owner never set up Find My iPad, then Activation Lock would not be a concern.
Regards.

  • Professionals, how did you get your start?

I know there are many people on here who earn a living working as professionals. I was just curious, how did you get your start?
I plan to attend Ohio University this fall to major in video production within the Scripps School of Communication. OU is well known for their school of communication, but obviously just having a good name behind your major doesn't guarantee a job.
What did you do to make yourself more marketable to potential employers? Any other advice that you have to share?
    Thanks in advance
    D

I started out as an apprentice editor on a feature film.  Got the job mainly because I fixed the director's assistant's computer during my interview.  Knowing how to use the Avid (thanks to film school) helped too.
I started at the bottom, and worked my way up.  Gaining knowledge as I went.  Apprentice editor, to tape vault manager, to post coordinator, to assistant editor, to online editor, back to assistant, then to editor.  6 years from the day I started apprenticing until the day I started editing a broadcast show.
    >What did you do to make yourself more marketable to potential employers?
Learned the ins and outs of the edit systems. I could troubleshoot them if they were broken, and knew the workflows for multiple shooting formats.  Was able to make the decision on edit systems to use and workflows to employ when presented with the shooting format, and delivery specs.  I learned all that from on the job training, and trolling the web for resources.  And a lot of work on my own.
    >Any other advice that you have to share?
Work your @$$ off!  If you think the job is below you, and act that way, you won't get hired again.  Don't think that you will start off right away as an editor, or DP, or director.  Starting out as an assistant is a great way to learn all that you need to learn to perform your job.  Because right out of film school, you don't know what you don't know.  But work hard, be dependable, and you will get hired again and again.

    Possibly.
Take it to an Apple store and have them check it out.

  • How do you know your wireless is secure?

I want to know how you know your internet is secure so no one in your neighbor hood can steal or hack my internet service. A few people in our house use a mix between ethernet cable and wireless. I don't use the wireless so i don't know how you set it up on the computer but when you use wireless for the first time to you have to enter a user name and password to access? I just want to make sure its secure. Thank you

Prevent someone from hacking your network.. simple, dont use wireless at all and turn the wireless on the router off. Thats the only option to prevent hacking. All other security settings like WEP, WPA, WPA2 will only slow a hacker down. They will not stop them.
Now if you want wireless, then your only option is to use encryption. Again this will only slow hackers down. But the chances you have a hacker next door is rather remote. Now by default the Verizon router uses WEP security. This is just the basics. Keeps honest people honest. Now if you want to increase your security, you can change the router security to WPA2. Dont worry about WPA as this is basically the same as WEP in terms of security effectiveness. WPA2 is more secure than the other two. This will keep you safe from the novices. Then as long as you dont have an advanced computer user nearby you should be fairly safe.

  • How do you know when items will fall off your credit reports?

Can anyone tell me how you know what date items will fall off your credit report? Thanks

Each individual type of adverse information has its own exclusion date.  They are all set forth in FCRA 605(a). DOFD applies only to a collection or charge-off, which have an exclusion date of no later than 7 years plus 180 days from the DOFD.Monthly account delinquencies are excluded no later than 7 years from their individual dates of occurence.BKs are exluded at 7 or 10 years, depending upon their type.Tax liens become excluded no later than 7 years from date paid.Judgments become excluded on the later of 7 years from date entered, or until the expiration of the statute of limitations on enforceability of the judgment. The credit report exclusion periods are imposed on the CRAs, and set forth the date after which they can no longer include that adverse item in credit reportes they issue. The CRAs are thus required to monitor the relevant date for each type of adverse item.  The consumer should no have to request exclusion or remind the CRA of the exclusion date, but it is possible that they could miss a date, so the consumer should monitor.

  • How did you get your first Flex developer job???

    Hi guys..
I know it might not be relevant for this forum, but I am dying to know how you guys get your first flex developer job. I am actually more interested in your resume. What sort of skill did you guys put on your resume? Thanks for the reply....:D

Started as a pure "Java/J2EE" dev.  Rebelled and added Flex to my skill set (since JSP is sin on par with 'AJAX frameworks'), started new project using Flex.
In other words one way is to take ownership of a Java (or other) project, and force the bast... er, have your project team use Flex.   he he
But this is the long path, of course.  To start off in Flex (besides the obvious of looking for it by name) you'd probably focus on UI design skills/experience and competing (but crummy and old) front-end technologies, and then lobby for the Flex SDK on any new projects that come along (assuming it's a good fit).  I suspect you'd have a tougher time if you're going into an organization which already has some late-generation RIA tech in use, such as Silverlight or GWT (bleh), but the ones still saying "JSP" or "AJAX" and any other associated legacy HTML-type technologies are soft targets.

  • Unbrick stories?? How did you get your Pod working again?

Have read and read about one bricked Pod after another. Perhaps a thread on unbricking would be helpful. How about responses from those who posted that they had "bricked" their Pods? Any solutions (aside from the obvious - don't upgrade to 1.1). Did anyone discover that a brick was due to something other than the 1.1 update? How are the "dead" Pods being fixed. Obviously there are problems, like the hiss and sound quality issues. But the ultimate problem is bricking. I am just curious as to what people are doing with their Classic Pods to "fix the brick." Any solutions??

Disk Mode lets you 'end' the 'iPod booting' circle (i.e. when your iPod keeps showing the Apple logo, then clicks, and starts the boot cycle again). As soon as the iPod starts this 'boot cycle', press the 'play' and the 'select' buttons at the same time for a couple of seconds.
The screen will turn white and you are now running the iPod in Disk Mode.
You can now connect it back to your iTunes, and from there run another synch, or restore the iPod, using the restore function in iTunes.
    I hope this helps.

  • How did you fixed your headphone jack breaking since verizon sucks at customer service

My headphone jack literally just stopped working. All the stuff I have read online is showing that most LG G2 users have this exact problem. I would like to know how to get mine fixed since verizon is sending me on a rat race to find out what to do.

There has been no damage to the phone. I have tried four different head phones. When it started all i had to do was twist the head phone and the phone would lose connection. When that happens on the LG it completely stops playing music, turns the display screen on, and sometimes changed settings while in my pocket. I used compressed air to try to clean it and a paper clip. Shortly after it completely stopped working unless i held it in place which of course is horribly annoying. I use my phone with its million features and apps to basically make phone calls, text, flash light, and you guessed it, listen to music. Without music i have , literally, little use for this phone. Trying to contact customer service has been extraordinarily frustrating. I called the store i bought the phone and told the girl working that from what i read online, this phone suffers from this problem a lot. To me that means the manufacturer is selling faulty product that will knowingly break. And of all things, the head phone Jack? They've been around for how many years now? The girl working agreed with me that they break often and told me to remove the battery and put it back in. On a phone that doesn't allow you to remove the battery. Then she gives me a number i call that then tells me to get some other phone to call a different number which is not what i need. I need information on how to fixed or have it replaced. I had purchased insurance but when my card maxed the insurance plan was cancelled. I've had it for over a year so the warranty is gone. Now I have a phone that doesn't do the one thing i like it to do While employees admit to me they break often over the very problem i presented. Very frustrating to buy a phone, which by the way is really a great phone, that can no longer do what my 20 year old CD player can still do, connect to the headphone jack.

  • HT2518 how do you know your user name and password?

I'm trying to use Migration Assistant to move data from my PC over to my new iMac.  It wants a name/password.  Everything I've tried (which I've always used) doesn't work...???!!!  Help!  How do I find out my name/password for Migration assistant????

Password for the Mac. It is trying to write to the Mac hard drive in an area that is restricted and only access by typing in the Mac Admin password.
Or at least that is how I see it.
    Good Luck.
    PS:
Migration assistant really doesn't work. Even when it looks like it is working it leave you with unintended consequences.
Also there is Nothing on your Windows PC that the Mac can use. No programs or settings. The only thing you can use on the Mac from Windows are your presonal files, Music, images and office data files.
So it is easier to just copy them over to the Mac then using MA, as you may have found out.

  • How did you activate your iPhone4?

Reason I ask is because, like others, I also have the antennae "issue". But no other issue. In fact, the phone seems to be functioning perfectly so far. Please report your activation stats. Here are mine:
    Computer/Platform: MacBookPro/OS Leopard
Activated as: New Device (NOT from back-up)
I synced all contacts from MobileMe. All other content through iTunes. Did not sync any photos.
No perceivable issues so far. Device works as expected.
Another reason I ask is because my 3GS had a terrible screen-freeze problem for which there was never any resolution. And, after countless visits to the Apple store, about the only thing they could suggest was to delete all content and reactivate as a "new" device. Something I was reticent to do at the time, figuring I'd just wait for the next phone to do this... make a fresh start, etc.
Now, I had originally activated that phone on a Windows machine from a backup (which, when I told the Apple genius, illicited an "aha"). And now I'm wondering if it makes any difference at all.
Like I said... no other issues I can see on this iPhone4.
How have others activated? And what (if any) issues exist on their phones?
    Curious.

I think all of the new phones have the same antennae "issue" to one extent or another, regardless of how they were activated. Really what I'd like to see are any of the other issues about which I've been reading.

  • Did you know how easy it is to void your warranty?

Many things are in the terms and conditions but I feel some need to be brought to the attention of the buyer,in Particular this one!
Did you know that if the screen gets a scratch ,the warranty becomes void!!
so even if there is a problem with the device itself that has nothing to do with you,if you have a scratch on the screen they wont repair it,claiming that there is damage to the device and the warranty is void!!
Holy GOD,im shocked to find this out,but this is from Apple itself! A scratch on the screen means you have NO COVER!! Do me a favour and pass this on,as Im sure others will be as surprised as me to find this out!
Quote from Apple when I asked if a scratch to the screen would mean I have no cover
    "Angelo:
Yes, if there is any damage to the device the warranty is voided.".

Not necessarily true as your post is too general.  The warranty does not cover cosmetic damage, so a scratched screen will not be repaired/replaced to fix the scratch.  However, Apple will determine, on a case by case basis, if the cosmetic damage actually indicates a cause for any functional or other hardware defect or improper function.
You can indeed bring in a cosmetically flawed device for service under warranty for defective components.  The only time cosmetic damage will void the warranty entirely is if it is determined to indicate accidental damage, abuse or mis-use of the device in some way as to void the warranty.  But that is decided on a case by case basis, and there is no blanket rule governing such instances.
You can read your warranty here - https://www.apple.com/legal/warranty (pick your country from the bottom right flag symbol).  In the USA, for an iPad with retina display, the main paragraph covering the issue you raise would be:
"This Warranty does not apply: (a) to consumable parts, such as batteries or protective coatings that are designed to diminish over time, unless failure has occurred due to a defect in materials or workmanship; (b) to cosmetic damage, including but not limited to scratches, dents and broken plastic on ports; (c) to damage caused by use with another product; (d) to damage caused by accident, abuse, misuse, liquid contact, fire, earthquake or other external cause; (e) to damage caused by operating the Apple Product outside Apple’s published guidelines; (f) to damage caused by service (including upgrades and expansions) performed by anyone who is not a representative of Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider (“AASP”); (g) to an Apple Product that has been modified to alter functionality or capability without the written permission of Apple; (h) to defects caused by normal wear and tear or otherwise due to the normal aging of the Apple Product, or if any serial number has been removed or defaced from the Apple Product."
Note the separate statements - that cosmetic damage itself is not covered, nor is damage caused by accident, abuse or misuse.  However, whether anything falling into the former criterion actually constitutes voidance of the warranty by the latter criterion will be determined by Apple when you present an item for warranty service.  One thing does not automatically imply the other.
