How Display Appointment Hours in Month View?

I'm new to iCal. In two other calendar applications I have used, it was possible to display the commencement hour of events in the month view, which is my preferred view. I do not see where this is discussed or anywhere where customizing other views is discussed. Have I missed something?

  • How to Hide Timezone in Month View in Calendar App?

    I live in two timezones and go back and forth often so I use the timezone support in Calendar app for Mavericks and on my iOS devices and it's quite useful. However, one thing about it really stinks, imho.
    I cannot find a way to hide the timezone information associated with individual events in the month view of the Calendar desktop application. This redundant and superfluous information results in the truncation of the event information, which *is* important to me.
    For example, instead of an event in month view being displayed as "check amex payment", as it was before I enabled timezone support, it now says "check a... 3AM GMT+7". Since every event has this appended timezone information displayed next to it the month view of my calendar has become much less useful than it was previously. I don't really need to know how many hours ahead of GMT an event is, I pretty much just want to know what the event is and on what day, in the month view. Now I cannot tell what any event is unless I open it in in week or day view. Very frustrating.
    If anyone knows of a way to hide that information in the month view it would be greatly appreciated to post it here.

  • ICal not displaying all events in Month view, leaving unused blank space

    I think this is a bug or bad programming of iCal:
    In the month view, I have for example a day with 5 or 6 events. When I change the size of the global iCal window, the size of each day is of course changing, displaying more or less of the events on that day; and displaying "..." when additional events exist but can not be shown. This is all fine... and normal...
    However, I noticed that iCal is simply not making use of the whole space: when my day is bog enough to display all events, iCal is still only displaying half of them, and the "...".
    This is really a pity as the white space is there.
    Anybody observed the same behavior?

    Hi,
    in month view, iCal displays ... to show that some items are not displayed. However, this happens many times when there is ample space to display the item, and even happens when there is only one item!
    Does anybody know how to force iCal to show as many as possible items?

    In the iCal 'month view' is there a setting to have it hIghlight the current day? I had been using Palm Desktop for years and found that feature useful for directing my eyes to the current day.

    The "Today" highlighting feature in iCal is not user selectable, and admittedly dim. The only things that have improved the visibility for me have been to change the angle at which I view the screen, and by choosing a different color profile in System Preferences...>Displays>Color>Display Profile: Uncheck "Show profiles for this display only," and choose a different profile, or you can also use the "Calibrate..." selection to choose a user specified profile for your screen.

  • How to hide events in monthly view?

    Hi,
    I am a grad student and I have weekly classes. I'm trying to figure out a way to display them in the daily schedule, but I want them otherwise to be invisible. What I mean is, I don't want them to show up as an event, and I don't want them to show up in the monthly view. Basically invisible unless you're in daily view.
    Any advice?

    just to hide certain fields (columns) you dont need iterator. you could use columnDefinition attribute of htmlb:tableView tag.
    to do this declare two page attributes as below
    col_control_tab     TYPE     TABLEVIEWCONTROLTAB
    col_wa     TYPE     TABLEVIEWCONTROL
    now in the oninitialization event. fill col_control_tab with the required column details.
    suppose the itab has columns 1 to 10 and you want to display only column 1 and 8 then the coding would be.
    clear col_wa .
      move: '1' to col_wa-columnname , " field name of column1 in itab
      'This is the title of column1' to col_wa-title ,
      'LEFT' to col_wa-horizontalalignment  .
      append col_wa to col_control_tab .
    clear col_wa .
      move: '8' to col_wa-columnname , " field name of column8 in itab
      'This is the title of column8' to col_wa-title ,
      'LEFT' to col_wa-horizontalalignment  .
      append col_wa to col_control_tab .

  • Calendar will not display events in month view?

    A few days ago my calendar stopped displaying events in the Month view (where I originally entered them). I can see them in the List view, although I cannot edit them. They are also not visible in the Day view.
    Moreover at the top of the screen where there would normally be a  "+" button to add events and a "calendar" button to view different calendars there is nothing. Only a heading that says "All Calendars" - however I can't find anywhere in settings to view different calendars if I want. Any ideas?

    If you find all the .ics files in ~/Library/Calendars/Events
    And then copy them out of ~/Library
    You can import them back into Calendar .... One .... At ..... A ..... Time ......

  • Printing Month View in the Normal 8x11 View

    This was a HUGE problem in the past and hoping it may be better.
    Have never been able to print any of the iCal views in the "tall" 8x11 view. iCal only prints in the "wide" "11x8" view.
    There were a few pain in the neck work-arounds and I am hoping that there may be easier ways to print iCal in the "Normal" views.
    Anyone have any news news on this?

    I amended all my appointments to 20 hour periods to cover the whole day and this alleviated my problem.

  • TZ of Day/Week/Month View is US/Pacific - Info Box & System TZ US/Eastern

    Just noticed this - don't think its been happening for long - probably a couple of days at the worst.
    When I create a New Event, the Time Zone is automatically incorrectly set to US/Pacific. I change it to Eastern (via Info Box) and it displays in the Info Box as Eastern, but the Daily/Weekly/Monthly view seems to remain at US/Pacific. (System prefs set to Eastern TZ).
    In addition ALL my events display in Day/Week/Month view as US/Pacific TZ, even tho Info Box TZ (and system TZ) is US/Eastern.
    For Example: Info box says event starts at 5PM goes to 9PM, Time Zone is US/Eastern. Calendar Display in Day, Week or Month shows event from 2PM to 6PM.
    This has affected every one of my events.
    I am running OSX 10.4.9,build 8P135 iCal Version 2.0.5 (1069)
    iCal Support for Time Zones turned On.
    Date/Time System Preferences appear to be OK
    System Time (measured by Menu Clock and verified by save time on a file) is OK - (Am writing this at about 2:40PM EST, Sunday 6/3/2007.

    I see you're from Bristol, UK. A friend told me a few hours ago that he has to make a business trip there sometime this summer and was thinking about bringing his family (from Boston, USA). We were not too clear on English geography tho - is Bristol a decent family vacation destination?

  • Wrap Text of Event in Month View

    I am unable to find where I can set the display setting for the month view in iCal. My problem is that I have events that are too long to fit in 1 line. Currently, the settings truncate the event to fit in one line on the month view. I'd like to be able to wrap the text so I can read the entire event description.
    How can I adjust the settings to get this right?

    Application UI issues are in many cases, caused by a corrupt plist file.
    Quit iCal, and try removing the com.apple.iCal.plist file from your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder. Since that Library is now hidden, you have to use the Finder>Go Menu>Depress the "Option" key>Library. Drag the .plist file to your desktop, and log out/in or restart and check iCal for functionality.

  • ICal misbehaving with iPhone, month view, and events missing

    iCal is giving me problems.
    April will not display at all in month view, and 1 week's worth of events are completely missing, no matter which view I am in.
    My iPhone has all of my events and is up-to-date, but even though I've synced it several times, it doesn't work. I've deleted the com.apple.iCal.plist file as well as the cache, with no luck.
    I'm in Leopard 10.5.8, using iCal 3.0.8

    Can I publish the calendar between two macs that are on a LAN?
    Publishing requires a .Mac account, or WebDAV-enabled server as I mentioned in my previous post.
    To simply share a calendar from on computer to another you can use iCals export and import features.
    Just export a calendar from one computer and import it on the other. It's as easy as sharing a file.

  • Calendar month view; cant scroll with scrollwheel

    I have a problem in the Calendar app in Yosemite (iMac 27" i7). My third party (razer) mouse is brand new. The software is installed (synapse) and working fine. The scroll wheel is working where it should, except in the Month view in the calendar app!
    Its working everywhere else, even in the day view. Any ideas?

    I am afraid I don't quite understand what you mean. You see, no matter how large or small the month view window, it just adjusts itself in size without scrollbars.

  • How do I display more than one month calendar in the day-view?

    iCal has always had a nice feature that allowed me to display little, what I call, mini-month calendars while in the day-view.  This allowed me to quickly jump to a day two or three (or more) months ahead (or behind) to check appointments on that day or set an appointment, without switching out of the day-view.
    The mini-month was a small clickable calendar that looked something like this:
    1   2   3   4   5   6   7
    8   9  10 11 12 13 14
    15 16 17 18 19 20 21
    22 23 24 25 26 27 28
    There was also a forward and backward arrow box [ < ][ > ] that allowed me to quickly scroll to the mini-month to find the day I wanted to click into.  And, if I wanted to give it more room by adjusting the frame, I could display up to three months at a time within my day view.
    Since upgrading iCal to 5.0 with the Lion upgrade, I can no longer display more than the current mini-month calendar on the day view.
    This is REALLY inconvenient.  Now, there is no way (that I know of) for me to stay in the day view and be able to jump ahead to a specific day two or three months out, or even to a day in the NEXT month without either going to the year view (a big waste of time) or click on the last day of the current month and then clicking the ">" day arrow to get to the next day which then shows that month's mini-calendar.
    How do I display more than the current month's mini-month calendar in the day view on Lion?

    Unfortunately you can't do what you want. Many people have complained to Apple about this. I suggest you provide Apple feedback directly at http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html. They will not provide a direct response but hopefully if enough people provide feedback Apple will fix this.
