How do 2 teachers share 1 ipad? Same itunes account?

A friend and I purchases an ipad to use in our elementary classrooms. We just received it and want to set it up. Looking for advice about which e-mail to use? One of our own or create a new one?  Also, should we create a new itunes account just to used with this school ipad? Next year, we will get another one and then each have one to use in our classroom, but this year we will be sharing.
Thoughts?
Thanks!

Nobody here can really tell you what to do.  Its your choice based on what works best for both of you.  The iPad is designed to be a one-user device.

How am I able to use the same iTunes account on a different iPod?

By just using the same iTunes account.  If you set up the iPod on your computer just make sure that iTunes is signed your account.  Of settingup via wifi, just enter your existing account.  Do not create a new one.

  • HT204053 i need to know how to separate different devices on the same itunes account

I need to kow how to seperate different devices on the same itunes account

Each of you should have their own iCloud account  which could be set up in "Settings > iCloud" (and if you asking me also for iMessage and FaceTime), but you could still use the same Apple ID for iTunes and App Store purchases which could be set up in "Settings > iTunes & App Stores" so that you only have to purchase each app or other media once.

  • How do I sync apps from the same iTunes account to an iPhone 3G and an iPhone 4S and keep correct version for each iOS?

I have an old 3G as well as a 4S. Initially I set up a separate iTunes account for the 4S as I was worried I'd lose my old apps for 3G (as older, compatible versions aren't kept in the iTunes store so once they're gone, they're gone...). 3G is set up to sync with iTunes, 4S is inly syncing mail and conatcts through Exchange but hasn't been synced with an iTunes library for the reason above.
Is there a way to sync both phones off the same iTunes account, so I can set up each phone with some music, as well as apps, without iOS 5 versions overwriting the exisitng apps for the 3G?
To complicate things further, I don't want to sync photos, contacts, messages, etc. I just want to avoid having to duplicate all my music and pay for all the apps all over again. Suggestions?
    Cheers

    Hi gail,
Thanks for the quick reply! The music part makes sense, good to know I don't have to duplicate the lot. The big question stillr emains as to whether iTunes can cope with two different iPhones, running different versions of the iOS, and therefore different app versions.
Currently all the apps in iTunes are years old, and many haven't updated in months (years?) because the 3G is running iOS 4.2.1 (and can't be upgraded). Many of these have since been updated in the iTunes store (for the various incarnations of iPhone since) and the old versions that my 3G requires have been replaced.
I'm worried that syncing the 4S running iOS 5, and running the most recent updates for same apps, will cause iTunes to overwrite the old 3G compatible ones when I sync. Unless iTunes is smart enough to know which version of the app is for which OS, without updating the legacy version when I update the apps on the 4S?
You guys shouldn't face that problem, as iPad and iPhone apps don't replace each other (I believe? Not sure about this) as new updates are released for each app, you'd have a copy for each device (for example Evernote for iPad, and Evernote for iPhone). I can't figure out if iTunes can handle keeping separate iPhone versions for Evernote iOS 4.2.1 and Evernote for iOS 5. My gut feeling is no, but I want to amke sure before I lose the legacy versions of each app.
Of course, maybe I'm just paranoid and iTunes is in fact perfectly capable of keeping old and new apps in the same library?
    Cheers

  • How do you seperate backups, but keep same itunes account

With the new icloud, I am finding that I need seperate back-ups, but want to keep same itunes account. how do I do this?

This has nothing to do with backups. Your iCloud backups are already separate. See at Settings>iCloud>Storage and Backup>manage storage. Your iTunes backups are separated to. Open iTunes go to Preferences>Devices.
Also you can turn off automatic download from settings>iTunes and App Stores on your device.
I don't understand what you wanna do with photos.
If you mean the photos that you sync with iTunes, every device can sync different things. Choose the albums or folder for each device as you like under Photos tab on iTunes sync page.

  • How to connect 2 iPhones to the same iTunes account?

I am trying to connect my iTunes account to my husbands iPhone 6 plus. I have it synced to my phone but I can't seem to sync it to his.

Yes - well, not iTunes, but new AppleIDs to use with other Apple services.
They can keep a common AppleID for iTunes and App store purchased content, but get and use their own different AppleIDs for iCloud and iMessage.  That way their iCloud email, iCloud backups, iCloud sync'd content, and iMessages will be separate.
To change iCloud accounts on a device, you have to go into the iCloud account settings, delete the account, then log back in with the new AppleID.
To change iMessage, go to the messages settings, select the appleID, log out, then log in with the new AppleID.
They can grab free gmail, hotmail, MS Live, AOL or whatever free email they wish if they need a new primary email to create a new AppleID.
iTunes and App store purchases are permanently tied to the AppleID used when purchasing, so they would not want to change that if they want to share purchased content.

  • Can you sync your ipad & iphone to the same itunes account yet or?

its been over year now and the iPad 2 is out, its apparently evident that when something goes wrong no one response here with a solution, can you or can you not sync both a iPad and iPhone with the same iTunes account flawlessly yet, because i helped over 4 people to do this and every single method seems to be work arounds.
has anyone figured out how to sync both devices to the same itunes account with out work arounds after all your apps get scattered outside their folders?

You have always been able to sync as many devices as you like to one account/library/computer.
Plug in one device, select what you want to sync, then sync.
    Unplug that device.
Plug in the other device, select what you want to sync, then sync.

You'll need to create an Apple ID for each device. Use the new Apple ID for FaceTime, iMessage and iCloud on the device. Use the original Apple ID for Settings>iTunes & App Store.

  • My wife and I share the same iTunes account.  How can I setup a separate account for her iPhone using my iMac?

Using More than One iDevice on the Same Computer
This applies mainly to couples who are adding another device and do not want their email, messages, etc. being duplicated on both devices. To begin read: How to use multiple iPhone, iPad, or iPod devices with one computer. You need to establish a separate Apple ID and password for whomever will use the new iDevice. See Apple - My Apple ID and Frequently asked questions about Apple ID. The easiest way is to do this on the computer using iTunes: iTunes- How to set up an Apple ID within iTunes.
On the computer create a new user account for the person with the new iDevice. This will be the user account that person will always use. He/She will no longer use the other user account. This way that person will have a separate iTunes Library
Start by transferring the new device(s) to a new account along with all your data.  Save any photo stream photos that you want to keep to your camera roll (unless they are already in the camera roll) by opening your Photos app, tap on Albums icon at the bottom. Now, tap on My Photo Stream album; tap Select; tap on the photos you want to select;, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow) in the lower left corner; then tap Save to Camera Roll.
If you are syncing notes with iCloud that you want to keep then you need to open each of your notes and email them to yourself. Later you can copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account.
Tap on Settings > iCloud > Delete Account (only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud; the person keeping the current account will not be affected,) provide the password to turn off Find My Phone and choose Keep on My iDevice when prompted.  Sign in with a different Apple ID to create your new account. Choose Merge to upload your data.
Once you are on separate accounts, you can each go to icloud.com and delete the other person's data from your account.
Note: The essence of the above was created by user, randers4. I
have made substantial changes to improve readability and syntax.

  • My mac, ipad and apple tv share the same itunes account.  Why do movies rented from itunes on my ipad or mac not show up in my apple tv?  is there a way to get them there?

My mac, ipad and apple tv share the same itunes account.  Why do movies rented from itunes on my ipad or mac not show up in my apple tv?  is there a way to get them there?

Rentals are one-time only downloads, they will not show on other devices/computers for redownloading.
If you rent a film on your iPad or Apple TV then you can only watch it on that device. If you rent it on your Mac then you can move it from there to your iPhone or your Apple TV (if it's a first gen Apple TV) : FAQs about renting movies from the iTunes Store :
If you rented the movie on your computer, you can move it to an iOS device or Apple TV (1st generation). To do this, connect the devices and sync using USB. When you move a rented movie from your computer, it will disappear from your computer’s iTunes library. You can move the movie between devices as much as you want, but you can only have it on one device at a time.
If you rented the movie on your iOS device or Apple TV, you can’t move it to any other device.

  • HT204053 How do i make icloud work if my husband and I share the same itunes account but we dont want to get each others contacts, messages, apps etc?

How do i make icloud work if my husband and I share the same itunes account but we dont want to get each others contacts, messages, apps etc?

Each of you should set up your separate iCloud account on your own computer using your Apple ID. This gives you two independent iCloud accounts.
Note that an iPad is not a multi-user device. It can only be synced with one account.

  • HT204053 I have just bought an ipad. I have already got an ipod My wife has got an iphone.  We use the same itunes account, I was perturbed to find when I turned on my ipad this morning a text someone had sent my wife was showing. How can I turn this faci

I have just bought an iPad. I have already got an iPod and my wife has an iPhone 3. We use the same iTunes account. I am receiving text messages which people are sending to my wife's phone on my iPad. Could you please advise how I can stop that happening. Thank you.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
To begin with, I would like to try to explain Apple's confusing nomenclature in regard to iCloud.
Apple have called the whole cloud thing iCloud, there are a number of features under the iCloud umbrella, some of which require their own login. iTunes is one of these, another is what Apple have unfortunately also called iCloud too.
You can use the same Apple ID (account) to login to both iCloud and iTunes, but you don't need to and often users will login to each service using a different ID.
The part that you need to remember is that the services available when you log into iCloud are completely different and unrelated to those when you log in to iTunes. Your iCloud login enables mail, contacts, calendars, find my phone, Back to My Mac, Documents & Data sharing and photostream, it does not affect any of your iTunes services.
To avoid confusion when discussing your problem, when I mention iCloud, I am referring to the services under the iCloud login, Whereas I will refer to the whole cloud thing as The Cloud.
You need to create a new account for either yourself or your wife, you can choose whether to use this account for iCloud and therefore keep your personal data such as the contacts etc separate, you can continue to use the account you are both using for iTunes so that you may share the content you have already purchased, but each use your own account for iMessage which will stop you receiving each other's messages.

You can sync as many devices as you want to the same iTunes account, there is no limit. You can have the same content on each device or different content, the choice is yours. iTunes will keep everything straight, by device, including separate backups. I'd suggest giving each device a unique name, to make things easier.
