How do colors work _&_ Open?

I feel Frustrated by Pages, sadly! :-( Do you wonder, "By what?"
I keep a Journal, which is a daily record of events in my life. [I endured a Severe Closed Head Injury on 11 September 1993 _&_ my memory suffers, forever. Keeping a Journal helps me. :-) ]
Again please, "I feel Frustrated by Pages." Say I have the Colors array open. When I Highlight a word then select a color to Change the color of that word, it as well-as Refuses to change.
Here is a Second, un-related complaint. When I _start_ Pages, I miss seeing the Open dialog box right-away. So when I start Pages each-time, I need to hit the keystroke [Command] + O _each_ time. This might not sound like much, but I notice the extra time it takes.
P. S. Old AppleWorks behaved Well in these _2_ ways of Color _&_ Open a File. So again I wonder Apple, "Why the Downgrade, hmmm?" Thank you.

In Pages ’09 v4.3 and Pages v5(.2), the text must remain selected to receive color changes from the color panel. Providing the preceding is true, I can make multiple color changes in the color panel, whether from saved swatches, or by slider interaction, and these changes apply immediately.
If however, I have the text selected, and leave Pages v5(.2) pointer focus to do something in another application, when I return to the color panel and invoke a change, no color changes are applied, even though the text remains selected. You will have to quit the color panel, select the text again, and click on the color panel again, before color changes can be applied to the selected text. Arrgggh. Pages ’09 allows you to change colors upon return to pointer focus on the color panel.
Both of the mentioned application versions on my OS X 10.9.4 machine, when launched from /Applications directly, the Dock, or LaunchPad — open to the file chooser. If you double-click an existing document icon, or request an application from the right-click, open with submenu, there will be no open dialog.
There is no special Pages preference setting that controls this open behavior. It also makes no difference how the For New Documents preference is configured. The same open dialog behaviour occurs whether requesting the Template Chooser, or specifying a custom template via Use Template preference setting. And, it is indifferent to whether you open to iCloud, or On My Mac settings in the open dialog.

How does color work?

Hi, just wondering how Dreamweaver works with colors.
Example, I make a logo in Photoshop, import it into Dreamwaver. I change the surrounding areas to the corresponding hex code for my logo background, and Dreamweaver is a much lighter hue.
MSPaint and Photoshop agree on the hex codes, so is there a setting in Dreamweaver I need to change? I did some googling and messed with my Photoshop color management settings but can't seem to them to match. Upon using MSPaint as the tie-breaker I think the problem lies with Dreamweaver.
If this should be posted elsewhere, I apoligize.

Well I figured since the problem was spanning across the two programs within the suite, that someone here could point me in the right direction.
From what I can tell it's Dreamweaver, but everything I'm reading on google is regarding the Color Management settings in Photoshop.
I recieved the software all together in the suite as a gift, so I apoligize if I misplaced this. I'm just a little frustrated that upon setting it up and sitting down with it, there are problems as simple as how to interpet an RGB value.

Automation Question: How do I work with an open 'upload file' dialog?

Was a very experienced VBS automation guy, this is my first emersion into the wonderful world of C# automation. Using Selenium WebDiver, I have successfully logged into a web page, filled out a few web forms, clicked on the 'add image' button and am
now faced with an open 'upload file' dialog. Pretty sure the namespace I need is system.windows.forms.OpenFileDialog so added the reference to my project.
Question:
All the examples on the web seem to relate to app development and not test automation. But, I need to automate this web application and all that's left is the image upload. What do I do when faced with an
already opened 'upload file' dialog? I know the image and path, how do I automate the process of placing the full path into the dialog and clicking the OK button or alternately, enter key?

I doubt that you need System.Windows.Forms.OpenFileDialog, the browser isn't written using WinForms and that dialog is a Win32 native dialog.
Maybe you should post this in the Selenium Users
group? It has little to do with C#, it's more about how Selenium interacts with the browser.

It means, tentatively, that system files are missing or damaged and you will have to reinstall Snow Leopard. See the following:
Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
Do the following:
1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed with reinstalling OS X. Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files. After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install the Combo Updater for the version you prefer from support.apple.com/downloads/.

Hmm, that is very strange. I agree with MichelB that it's probably best just to get the PDF, but you can try going to your username>library>preferences and deleting:
com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist
Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 settings
Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 paths
To see the library, click the Go menu in the Finder and hold down the option key and it will appear below the little house for your user account. While you're in there it wouldn't be a bad idea to go to the Saved Application States folder and delete anything pertaining to PSE.
Repair permissions and see if that does it.

You will need an external drive that is formatted as MAC OS EXTENDED (journaled).
Move the Project, Events, and any photos and music to the external drive by following the instructions in this post.

Be sure to use CONSOLIDATE MEDIA to get the photos and music. Then plug this drive into your computer and you will be able to edit.

The Ask Toolbar is causing that in the Firefox 3.6.13+ versions. Uninstall that extension.
There are a couple of places to check for the Ask toolbar:

That is wrong advice and you appear to have repeated it all over the forum.
All Pages files no matter what version have the same file extension, .pages, despite being radically different formats and that is the problem. The System does not distinguish between them when you double click on the file, it opens the first version of Pages it encounters.
You need to right click on the file and choose the correct App version for the file. Unfortunately there are no clues to tell you which is which.
If you are unhappy with this and the removal of over 100 features plus the problems with transmitting files across devices, servers and different versions of OS X, rate/review Pages 5.5.2 in the App Store.

Acrobat is not on the USB device - only Adobe Reader needed on the PC. How does this work? How can I fix this device if at all?

You need to ask the people who sold it to you. Doesn't sound like it has anything to do with Reader.
However, you should be wary of devices that automatically try to open files when plugged in. They can also infect your computers with all kinds of viruses or malware.
