How do get a mounted drive to always be shown in 'devices'?

Hello,
some time ago, I accidentally clicked "remove" on a mounted drive which was shown in the devices section of finder, on the left. Now, whenever I mount a drive on my desktop, it doesn't show in devices unless I drag it there - and then disappears again on restart. Any ideas how I can get it to stay in the devices section whenever it's mounted?

Users/yourname/Library/Preferences and trash these two files:
com.apple.finder.plist
com.apple.sidebarlists.plist
Then, restart.
(You will have to reset a few finder prefs the way you like them.)

One option is to define a custom ad renderer, which is registered with the proper mime-type.
The campaign would run your renderer if the campaign retrieved a node with a binary of the proper registered mime-type.
This allows you to insert yourself into the call chain for the node rendering. You can access the nodeID at that point (and do the typical rendering-- providing a URL for the ShowPropertyServlet)

How does one remove an mounted drive at startup in a mobile account, using netinfo?
One of the user automatically mounts a network drive on her new intel Macbook in her portable account. Trouble is that the network drive is only available on the intranet. So when she is on the road, it take the Macbook very long 3-4 minutes before it let's her log in.
Simply I thought to remove the drive on her macbook through the system preferences -> account -> login items. However the "login Item" GUI is very slow to respond and if it respond it does not let me remove the network drive. I tried this both on the intranet and off the network.
I tried to remove the mounted drive at start up through the workgroup manager, but it does not show up there.
So I thought that I try to use netinfo on the local machine. But I can't find where mounting info is stored in a mobile account. I thought it would be in the local @ localhost or should I connect to an other DB?

The login items are not stored in Netinfo, they are stored in loginwindow.plist in the users Library/Preferences. You can either remove the entries for the server or simply trash that file and let a default one get recreated.

How to get a newHP driver to appear in the Printer Setup Dropdown box?

I asked this question in a slightly different way in another thread, but I think it was too specific. The problem is that I installed the new driver for an HP OfficeJet 6110 and it works fine via USB, but it is ultimately a remote printer. The wireless Print server works fine with another windows PC and I can ping it via the Mac and get it to spool with the generic driver (gibberish). HP mounts the driver like an application and it doesn't appear in the Printer Setup as one of the options, and I don't know how to get it to appear there. I've searched the forums and Gimp appears to work on Epson/Canon, etc., but not HP, so I'm at a bit of a loss.

I have the same problem. Attempting to add a printer, Stylus Photo R200 (USB OS 10.4.11) to the Printer List I get the same error message, "client=error-request-value-too-long". I've reinstalled drivers multiple times to no avail.
Somebody out there know what to do?

How to get older nvidia driver

I just installed archlinux again and the nvidia driver.
Now when I run 3d games I get a stutter every 13-15 seconds, as if the graphics freeze for 1 second.
I remember having this problem with the nvidia version 169, and then I downgraded the driver which fixed the problem.
But this was in Gentoo.
How do I get an older driver in Archlinux?
I think I need the 100. something driver.

I haven't tried using ABS yet. The question is for me if it will be easier for me to install Gentoo again where I can just choose the driver version freely, or llearn to use ABS.
I was just hoping that I could use Arch since it is faster to install..

[Solved] How to get CD/DVD drive working?

I've been trying to get it to work since Day 1, just a few weeks ago. The default settings didn't work, no matter what I tried. I removed all mentions of optical drives from fstab and installed hal, to no avail. I've tried stealing other people's settings, copying my old ones from Ubuntu; pretty much everything I could think of. I've read the "How To fstab" on the Ubuntu forums, and searched Google many times. In the hopes of finally having a functional optical drive, I ask you:
What do I need to do?

Hello everybody! I, too have a problem with my cdrom drive. When I'm trying to mount it I get the error:"special device /dev/cdrom does not exist". I know that usually /dev/cdrom it's a link to a real device, but there is no device in /dev (beside my 2 HDDs). fdisk -l shows me only the HDD partitions. I didn't found any errors in my log files. Actually, Arch it's not seeing my CDROM drive.

How to get the Country Name details always in Eng while using the SForms

Hi Group,
I have a requirement as under:
the Smartform has to display the COUNTRY NAME - always and it should be printed in ENGLISH only.
The Smartform is having a Alternative option(for printing the Address) and for YES part(for certain countries) - the fm "ADDRESS_INTO_PRINTFORM" is being used and for the NO(for the rest of the countries) part an ADDRESS TEMPLATE is being used....
The issues are:
- the fm 'ADDRESS.......FORM" is printing the COUNTRY Name for certain cases and for the rest it is not...
- the Address template has no option to do any manipulation on the COUNTRY Name to come
how can have the COUNTRY NAME to appear in both the cases(YES part and NO part) printed in ENGLISH always?
I tried for a USEREXIT "EXIT_SAPLSADR_900" but still not able to tweak it and get the COUNTRY NAME always in ENGLISH.
Kindly provide your valuable inputs.

How to get rid of drive encryption?

Hello,
I don't know if this is the right place to post this. If not, please redirect to me the appropiate place. I have a HP Elitebook Folio 9470m with Windows 7 Pro x64. Previous user configured Drive Encryption through HP Protect Tools. Everytime the laptop is turned on it asks for password before booting up into anything. I know the password but I want to get rid of this. I tried reformatting the C drive partition and installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 but I still get the login screen for booting up. How can I get rid of this? Is this configured on the BIOS? If I reformat the whole hard drive, including the Master Boot Record, will that get rid of the drive encryption?

I suggest you read the protect tools manual for your model at the link below and see if there is anything there for how to remove the drive encryption. I am pretty sure you will have to remove it thru that program.

I read about that problem and I know I can do nothing about it having only OEM copy of WinXp (bootable recovery disc, which when entered gives me no access to C: drive from command line). My question is thuoght, if is it possible to get somehow into my hard drive and safe a few files before formatting it? I have desktop computer with Xp and network cable. Is it possible to install memory stick or USB flash memory stick from DOS so I could copy the files onto them?

Hi Misia, you can access C drive but this will require using a bootable OS BartPE or a Linux Live CD like Knoppix which both offer NTFS access and LAN connection. If you have a floppy drive then try datapol's bootable NTFS disk - http://www.datapol.de/dpe/freeware/ The other option is to boot a WinXP CD and run the recovery console mode. As for fixing the registry problem this is possible but will require copying files from various folders. You have two options either use the keys stored in c:\windows\repair or better still use the backup copy of the registry keys from the system restore folder. How to get Bridge-hosted ACR to always open 32-bit PS?

I am using CS4 on the 64-bit version of Windows 7. Does anyone know how I can force ACR to use the 32-bit version of PS instead of the 64-bit version when using the "Open in Camera Raw" method from Bridge?
I have made file association and registry changes so that everything else (double-click a CR2 file in Bridge, using Open, etc.) uses 32-bit PS. When I use the ACR hosted by Bridge via the "Open in Camera Raw", however, and then do an "Open Image", ACR will always use the 64-bit version of PS unless the 32-bit version of PS is already open.
I am trying to form a new habit of using the PS-hosted version of ACR with the "Open" command but it is a hard habit to break. It also takes a little longer the first time I use ACR. I´d love to use 64-bit all the time but I have third-party filters that work only on the 32-bit version.
Any ideas?

Plain advice: open Bridge, open 32-bit PS,
and when we then open a file in/from Bridge it goes (via ACR) into 32-bit PS.

I removed the iCloud Drive link from my Finder's favorites as I was unable to open it properly (only worked when using the context menu via right-clicking). Now, how do I re-gain access to it? I cannot find any iCloud Drive icon anywhere in the finder.

am trying to back up and transfer data between two hard drives but cant get up twp Hd icons at the same time. It is so easy in windows but cant seem to do it in MBPro. Even Dick Smith couldnt help me today.

Do the HD icons appear on your Desktop?
If not, adjust your Finder preferences:
Also check "Hard Disks" if you want your internal HD to appear on the Desktop.
Open one, open the other, should be no problem.

How to get rid of drive partiton?

So when burning some DVD's I had to get rid of my 20+GB music libray from my powerbook. I ended up transfering them to my iMac, which has a Drive partiton - 1 Master, 1 Storage. Master is what I primarily use, while Storage holds my AAC/MP3 file collection from my Powerbook.
Only now do I realize that I never needed the two drive partitions, and now would like to eliminate the Storage Partition, so that I don't have to duplicae music from the Storage Partion to the Master Partition when I want to listen to a certian album or song on the iMac.
Is there a way to get rid of the storage partition or "fold" it into the Master Partition, or should I just transfer the music back to my powerbook, backup my files, and just reinstall Panther?
And for the record, I already read the excellent solution on the thread of playing music from the Panther partition on the Tiger Partition, but I'd rather just have no second partition on my hard drive.

You probably will be best off to back up and re-install your OS, and re-partition at the same time. While there are some applications that claim to be able to change partitioning on without losing data, everything I've read says they don't work that well.
