How do I access any form of auto-saved files or backups on Adobe Audition CS 5.5?

After recording a nearly 2 hour interview for a project, I left my mac without saving my files because I knew that I was going to get back to work and save them later. Unfortunately, I got caught up with a phone call and eventually had to rush to catch a plane, so I just closed my mac and caught the plane. Upon my arrival, I realized that my mac died, but normally this wouldn't be a problem because once I connect the charger, everything would normally reopen with the recovered files. Unfortunately after opening adobe audition, I realized that my audio files that I hadn't saved were still there, but there were no longer any waves on the file. I didn't want to risk losing the files, if there was any way of me being able to retrieve them, so I saved the audio files with new names, but have still been unable to find the audio files with actual audio on them. Can someone please help me?

Were you recording in the Waveform edit view or the Multitrack view?
Recording in the Waveform view only saves audio in temporary until you Save them. They are likely to be lost if you didn't same them before shutting down Audition or computer crashed.
If you were using Multitrack view then the audio is saved to your hard disc in real time and should be found in the "session name"_Recorded folder alongside your .sesx session file, something like:
C:\Users\"username"\Documents\Adobe\Audition\4.0\test\test_Recorded on a Windows machine. Not sure where on a Mac.
If it is the first file that you recorded in that session then it is likely to a name like "Track 1_001.wav" if you didn't save it as anything else.. So do a search for a file with that name on your computer. If you are very lucky it might still be recoverable.
Lesson: Always save any new file whenever you pause in your editing session.

How does the icon get created for a saved file

In my program I allow saving files using JFileChooser and ActionListener.
In the constructor of the main class which extends JFrame I also set an icon by saying:
this.setIconImage(new ImageIcon("image.jpg").getImage());
This does not only set an icon on the title bar and the minimized window, it also creates an icon on my saved files. However, the image quality for the icon on my saved files is bad, even though the image quality for the other icons is ok. The size of the icon image I am providing is close to the size of the icon image on my saved files.
How did the icon get created for my saved files? Is it possible to improve the image quality?

did not create the icon for my saved files.
So what did create it? I did not program it!
However, I happen to have an icon file Ananya.ico where I have my java project. I use if for my installation file. Did Java use this icon?

How to prevent filled-in forms to be saved?

Hi all,
I have recently been given the task of preparing a couple of forms.
The idea is to provide the blank forms to the users of our intranet. That way the blank forms should be saved locally, filled in and printed (with the filled-in content) as needed. The important point is that the users should not be able to save the forms with the filled-in content. I am working with Acrobat XI Pro and would appreciate an easy solution that works to this end (either preventing the filled-in data to be saved in the first place or at least the form be blanked each time the saved document is opened).
Almost all questions on the web with PDF and forms deal with the problem the other way round (e.g. how to save filled-in forms), but my problem is just vice-versa.

Some of them might be using v. XI, but the majority is probably not. That might change when the IT department rolls out a general software update.
And if I get you right, switching off JS would make the script solution moot.
Overall it sounds as if PDF is not the best solution for the problem and we might have to look for something better...

I just updated Creative Cloud to 1.9.1.474, and my entire CC folder just disappeared. And I can't access any of my 18GB of files on the web. What the hell is going on?

CC says it's re-syncing all 18 GB of my files back to my HDD. I'm on crappy wifi in southern Peru, and I can't access any of my work files for (CC estimates) 22 hours. I'm basically out of business for a day or more. How the hell can Adobe allow this to happen?

With the recent update of the Creative Cloud Desktop app (1.9.1.474) we unfortunately introduced a bug which causes the creation of a new Creative Cloud Files folder, and re-sync of all content. This will only occur the first time the sync application runs after the update. This has caused understandable pain and confusion, for which we truly apologise.
The Creative Cloud Files app contains logic that supports the use of multiple Adobe IDs. This allows you to sign out of one ID and in to another, but keeps your Creative Cloud content separate. When you sign out and change IDs, the app moves the previous Creative Cloud Files folder and it's contents and appends it with the previously signed in ID (User@AdobeID). It then creates a new main folder and starts to sync content of the new ID.
The bug which I mentioned previously occurs, as the app believes an ID switch has taken place and as such, moves the current Creative Cloud Files folder and tries to append the previously signed in ID. As no switch has actually taken place it manifests as (Unknown). The app then creates a new main folder at syncs down the data.
Essentially what you end up with is a Creative Cloud Files folder with your newly sync'd data and a Creative Cloud Files (Unknown) folder that contains duplicate data.
This occurs once, after the last update completes.
The fix is to simply delete the Creative Cloud Files (Unknown) folder.
I would advise that you ensure you have no pending edits that you may have made offline and that you check the contents of the new, main Creative Cloud Files folder contains everything you expect it to. If not, check the contents of the Creative Cloud Files (Unknown) folder.
If there is still a discrepancy with your data, you can check on creative.adobe.com to confirm your data is there.

How to get accessed to pagecontext in a tag file in JSP2.0

I am writing a custom tag using JSP 2.0 to clean up the JSP pages for a big website.
Now a question comes up. I need to access pageContext variable in my tag file since I need to get the bean using a lookup method. I know in JSP2.0 there is jspContext implicit object instead of pageContext. But this is not the end of the story.
then I read Denis' post. and his solution are these two line codes:

I am confused here what the tagBean here. Is that a webBean? and how can I get this object in my tag so that I could initialize the pagecontext and reference it?

The lookup method just returned me a null. So I believe that there is
some trick behind this simple cast.First I would double check your basic assumptions.
Is the attribute you are looking up actually there? That would be a simpler explanation for why the lookup method returned null.
Try a jspContext.findAttribute() , specific request/session.getAttribute() to see if you actually retrieve anything.
Also be aware that the RequestUtils.lookup() method has been deprecated in Struts 1.2, in favour of org.apache.struts.taglib.TagUtils.lookup().

You don't, in a word. Lighroom understands neither the iPhoto nor the Aperture Library. Export the files from iPhoto / Aperture to the Finder and take it from there.

How to stop my Preview button from auto putting files to the server?

Hi, I just had a tech guy to my house helping me with dreamweaver and when he left my program is working differently. It did not automatically put files when I previewed them. Now I can't preview anything without it putting the file to the server. I created a contact form as a php file. Could that have anything to do with this change? I appreciate your assistance!

Hi, I actually had to turn off the test button to the server to stop it. In preferences nothing was changed. I have checked "prompt on put" and "prompt on get".

How to: Create a master form that auto-fills data into other pdf forms?

I hope someone can please help me. I have about 15 PDF forms that all require similar data entry (name, address etc). Can I create a master form that we fill in once per client, and then auto-fill in the matching data on the 15 forms?
I am not looking for an online solution as the information is highly sensitive.
I have already created a form in Acrobat X Pro with the 'master data', and created the (15) forms with identically named fields. How I link the forms now to the master, I cannot figure out (after much searching).
I have read similar questions on the same topic but have not found any answers. I hope this time someone can please help.

Thank you! I had just figured out how to export the data from the master as an FDF file and then import it to the other files. I'm afraid I don't understand scripting to automate the process across multiple files. To you mean with java script?
I've also thought about combining the forms, once we know which ones the particular client will need. I have to see how it works in practice for my colleagues who will be using them.

How to set a MD form in auto insert mode?

Hi,
I have a regular form navigates to a master detail form in
insert mode. How do I make the MASTER_ACTION show up
as "Insert" instead of "None"? If I call the Master detail form
in update mode, it will show up as "Update" in the MASTER_ACTION.

Depending on your source, you can do one of two things. If
you are trying to get the yellow highlight that comes default with
FF2 & 3, you can just use CSS:

How do i get everything form now on saved onto my external hard drive?

i only have 7 gb on my comptuers hd i have a 500 gb external ahrd drive connected. how do i make verything automatically save onto the external? thanks..

You can use the following instructions(iTunes, iPhoto) to move the libraries to the external drive.
You can also drag your home folder to the external drive in the Finder and then change the home property for your user account in the NetInfo Manager, which is in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder, if you need more space. When changed, this property should be along the lines of /Volumes/externaldrive/Users/yourname. If this is done, you should create a second account in the Accounts pane of System Preferences in case you run into trouble or the drive isn't available.
Additional space can be freed up by deleting items in the /Library/Packages/ and /Library/Printers/ folders you don't use, and running Monolingual to delete unnecessary languages. Don't use Monolingual to delete any architectures on an Intel Mac; the PowerPC architecture is necessary for Rosetta applications to run.

How do I create a form from a pdf file?

I need to create a form using a template from a master agreement that a user can just use by filling in the blanks. I used MS Word and it did not work. PDF file doesnt work either. I lose the blanks. I tried inserting a text box that did not work either.
