i cannot add new contacts to my e-mail contact list. The screen shows no contacts when I try to add new contacts.

Right out of the box, Firefox doesn't store contacts. Are you working with the features of a particular email website, or is your question about Thunderbird?
For an email site, you could mention which one it is for more specific assistance. Meanwhile, when you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
1. Clear Firefox's Cache
orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Offline Storage : "Clear Now"
2. If needed, delete the site's cookies here
While viewing a page on the site, right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

When I try to create a message it says To: and then seems to expect me to input a phone number, surely it is possible just to pick the number from my contacts list? This is what you do. When you create a message and get the To:, Click Option>Add Recipient. This should bring you to your contacts.

You can plug a new phone in and restore the backup from your computer. As has already been stated, however, contacts are NOT part of the backup. If they were restored when you restored your phone previously, they either had to come from an address book on your computer or a cloud service you were syncing to (Exchange, Yahoo, gmail, etc.).
Most likely, you set up the contact sync when you first got your phone and never thought about it again. Just because you don't actually open and use the address book on your computer doesn't mean it isn't there.
On Windows, look in Windows Address book or Outlook. If you had an Exchange account, Yahoo account, or G-Mail account (set up as Exchange), look at the contacts on the server.
Even if you could save contacts to the SIM, you would only get a small fraction of the information that can be entered for each contact.

Do the following:
rename the old library to something other that iPhoto Library.
copy the library to the Pictures folder on your new laptop.
launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and select the old library to open it and convert it to the newer version.
Note: if the older version of iPhoto was iPhoto 7 (08) or earlier you'll need to download and run the iPhoto Library Upgrader 1.1 on it before opening with iPhoto on your new laptop.
If you want to merge the two libraries into one library and keep the edited versions, keywords, titles, etc. you'll need to use the paid version of iPhoto Library Manager to do the merging.

You would have to sign into her iCloud account on your phone to do this. Are you using a separate iCloud account on your phone now?

Connect the iPod nano to the computer the exact same way you set up the old one. You don't need to create another Apple ID, iTunes Store account, or iTunes library.

In case of emergency, how does someone access my contacts when my phone is locked?

I have an iphone 5 and during CPR training it dawned on me that there was no way for anyone, other than me, to access my emergency contacts if I was in an accident.
Is there a way to do this?

I kind of like the lock screen idea though - they do not need to know anything about the make/model of the device, just swipe to unlock and the info is right there.
Although I also always wear a medicalert neck pendant and I'd encourage anyone with a known serious or chronic medical condition to use medicalert and wear the id (calling their toll free number will get a first responder all sorts of information if needed).

Since they control the core features of iOS, this is something they could possible add to a future iOS release (maybe a "special" group in Contacts that could be set to show on the swipe, while everything else remains locked?).

Assuming when you said "tick the box that said sync to gmail" you mean when you setup your gmail account via BIS they should all be available via the contacts section of the gmail website.

I'm not sure what is not working for you. If you go to www.icloud.com, log in with your iCloud ID, if you click on the Contacts tab, do you see contacts there? If you go to your phone, click on Settings>iCloud, do you see or have Contacts turned on? That is what needs to be done to get your contacts in the cloud.

How to register 10g ODBC driver list in the Create New Data Source window

I've checked the dll for the odbc is in the correct home path. However, i don't see the list of the driver when i try to create a new data source. Is there a way besides reinstall the client again.

According to your description, after you run C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe, Access driver is not displayed when you expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>ODBC>ODBCINST.INI node.
The issue is caused by wrong path of odbccad32, please make sure that you are using Administrator account or you have administrative privileges, then refer to the following steps:
Go to Control Panel.
Click Administrative Tools.
Right-click Data Sources(ODBC) to open Properties dialog box.
In Target text box, type %windir%\syswow64\odbcad32.exe
In Start in text box, type %windir%\syswow64, then click OK to save the settings.

Click on the 'Go' menu in the top menu bar.
Hold down the 'Option' key on the keyboard
'Library' should appear in the menu between 'Home' and 'Computer'
There you will find the 'Application Support' folder.
For System
Click 'Go'
Click 'Computer'
Open 'Macintosh HD'
Open 'Library'
The Application Support folder should be there.

I am using my old hard-drive as an external drive temporarily but I can't fins my bookmarks;where are they/how do i access them so i can copy to new computer?

the power supply in my pc fried but my hard drive was unaffected - i need to find my firefox bookmarks on the old hard drive so i can copy them. when i try going into the firefox program file, i don't see a folder for or called bookmarks.
i can recreate some of them but there are some that are critical that i can't find

The Time Capsule is a network drive and Time Machine cannot backup files that are already on a network drive.
You might want to take a look at Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper, as both of these utilities will backup a network drive like the Time Capsule.
