How do I access purchased music on my new computer?

I recently got a new computer and want to transfer music I previously purchased and that is on my iPod to my iTunes music account. How do I access that music? Or how do I transfer music from my iPod to my iTunes account?

So you are saying if it was not backed up...the song will have to be purchased again??? does not seem fair or right...
If you don't have your computer backed up, then how are you also going to transfer your pictures, save email messages, video files, etc.
iTunes purchases are no different.
Unless you are going from Mac to Windows or from Windows to Mac, you can copy the entire iTunes folder in the music folder before launching iTunes, or overwriting the one it just made if you already have, and iTunes will go through a quick update of it's music library and you're done.
If you have jumped between Windows and Mac, then just copy the music library folder within the iTunes folder to your new computer and have iTunes search and import it all.

  • How to get my purchased music back on new computer

I just traded in my 3 month old, older version iMac intel, for the new one, not sure I got a good deal, but wanted it and it's another story heh..anyway, I backed up my music library on a DVD-R, but how do I get them into my library on the new computer? It's blank there when I hit the iTune icon. All I have is the U2 library, and they're on my iPod, but I'd still like them there. So what should I do?
    Thanks!

    From your OLD computer...
Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..

An Added Bonus is that you will have a Backup of iTunes.

  • How could I transfer all purchased music to a new computer

I need to transfer all purchased music to a new computer.. Can I download them again or sync to the new computer??

Anything you want to transfer, just copy it to a USB flash drive or external hard drive, and from there to the new computer.
If you want to keep your iTunes library intact, as far as playcounts, playlists, etc, a few extra steps are required. First, on the old machine, run Library > Consolidate. Then copy the entire iTunes folder to the external device, and from there to the new machine.

  • Getting Already Purchased Music on a new computer?

So my ipod was stolen and the computer that had my music is no longer working is there any way to get my Purchased music on my new computer or am i gonna have to rebuy it all. I have tried the Check for available Downloads option and it says everything has been downloaded but there is nothing in my folder can anyone offer any more help...

If you didn't make a back-up of your purchases to restore from (as you are advised to do) then I'm sorry to say that the policy on lost purchases is that you have to pay to download them again:
"Once a Product is purchased and you receive the Product, it is your responsibility not to lose, destroy, or damage the Product, and Apple shall be without liability to you in the event of any loss, destruction, or damage." iTunes Store: Purchased content can be downloaded only once
You could try contacting iTunes Store Customer Service and you might be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download. There have been occasional reports in the iTunes forum of this happening, however just be aware that they are not under any obligation to do so. If you click on this link you'll be able to email your query: Customer Service - iTunes Store Support

  • How do I access purchased music across all platforms?

Music previously purchased in iTunes is now in the 'music' app on my iPad mini. It's no longer on my iTunes playlist.  How do I access this music on my MacBook air?

    I am guessing you mean:
The iTunes application on your MacBook Air
The playlist entitled "Purchased" in iTunes on your MacBook Air
Make sure you are signed in to iTunes on your MacBook Air using the same Apple ID and password that you are using on your iPad.

  • I recently had to buy a new computer because my other one could not be fixed. I had purchased a lot of music and it was in my iTunes. I did not have iCloud and I would like to have all of my purchased music on my new computer. How do I do that?

I would like to access my music from my account on another devise because my other one crashed. I do not have iCloud and I need this music on my new devise.

Anything you purchased from the iTunes Store can be downloaded again, as often as necessary, as long as it still exists in the iTunes Store.

  • How can I transfer purchased music to a new iTunes account for my daughter who now wants to make her own purchases?

Daughter is over 18 and wants to make her own purchases. She has music I no longer need to share with her. Can I give it to her somehow?

purchased music is tied to the iTunes store account (Apple ID) used to purchase the content and cannot be transferred.
however, a single iTunes can be authorized for up to five Apple IDs. so, all your daughter needs to do is authorize her iTunes for your Apple ID along with her own. you can use home sharing or an external HD or burn the tunes to disc to transfer them to her computer/user account on your computer.

  • How to download purchased music to my new computer.

    Hi,
I've got a problem doing this.
iTunes keeps telling me the music i once purchased isn't available anymore.
Yesterday i tried to download it to my new computer.
When i tried to download, it wasn't possible.
But when i purchased the album again (2nd time since i purchased it 2 years ago) it started to download but i had to pay for it again.
later on i received an e-mail from Apple:
Your Apple ID, ******************** is just used to buy *********** from the iTunes Store on a computer or device not previously associated with that Apple ID.
If you purchased from us, please ignore this email. It was sent to you for your attention to if you did not purchase yourself.
If you have not done this purchase, we recommend to iforgot.apple.com to go and change your password, and then to Apple ID: safety tips to protect your account to go for further assistance.
    Best Regards,
    Apple
So, my computer wasn't associated before because i just have a new one.
I've authorised my computer when installing iTunes.
So what can i do to get my purchased music on my computer again?

I received an email from apple.
the content was available but they said: you can only download it once.
They opened up my account so i can download the items again.
I'll reply again if this works

  • How do I access my itunes on a new computer without access to the old?

My old computer is dead and gone and I do not own an iphone, but have gotten a new computer.  How do I access my itunes and all the content I have been putting on it for so long now?  My new computer is an acer; I do not own any apple products yet (poor), I just used itunes.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for this very occasion.

  • A Varation on the How do I move my music to a new computer question.

I have a new (Win 7) computer with which I want to use my I-Tunes music library.  Currently the library itself resides on an extern (USB) hard drive connected to my old computer (Win XP).  However, the library files (itl and xml) reside on the internal hard drive of the old computer.
My problem is that part of the transfer is easy and obvious, but the rest of it seems unclear to me.
I'm pretty sure I could just plug the external drive into the new computer, and in ITunes on the new computer, set the folder location on the hard drive as the location of my library and then add the content to the library and have access to my full library.
Except, I would not have the play-lists.  They are sitting in the itl file on the old computer.
So, my question is:  How do I move that information as well?
I'd be grateful for any suggestions.
    John
