How do I access the iTunes (9) store while running 10.5.6?

I recently upgraded to iTunes 9, and so I needed to upgrade Safari as well to access the iTunes store. Unfortunately, the only new version of Safari I could download was version 4.04, which will only run on Mac OS X 10.5.8 or higher. I'm running 10.5.6. I tried downgrading iTunes down to 8.2, but then I couldn't access anything since my whole iTunes library had been "written in a later version", so I upgraded it back to iTunes 9. What can I do?

While you wait, to probably get an external hard drive to move things off your machine, have a look at Disk Inventory X (http://www.derlien.com/).
It will show you where you largest files are - moving/removing these will obviously give you the best increase in free space.

Thanks, but I should have been more specific. I was trying to access the iTunes app preview page on my PC through Chrome. While I have an iPad, it's not convenient to have to refer to it every time I want to discuss an iOS app.

I Can't access the iTunes music store after updating to the newest version of iTunes

I know this sounds like a newbie question, but I have been using iTunes for over five years now. I recently updated to the newest version of iTunes (10.5 I think) and ever since that I have not been able to access the iTunes store. It has been over a week now and I am really confused. The status bar will just freeze and then it will disappear when I click to go on the store. I have tried reinstalling iTunes and that hasn't worked. Not sure what to do. Thanks for any suggestions.

I've got the same problem, and have reinstalled my entire system and haven't installed any Anti Virus or Spyware programs yet, and still can't get into the stores.
When I wrote last week to tech support they couldn't help me via email, and to me that I might need to go to the fee based support to get this resolved.

You have encounter Activation Lock, the antitheft feature of the iPhone. The previous owner did not remove the phone from their account. The phone cannot be used until they do. Return to the store and let them sort this out. It is very unusual for someone to "forget" to disable activation lock, as it is necessary to do so to erase personal information on the phone. Well folks I finally got my "can't connect to iTunes" issues fixed. Seems that there was an unauthorized change to my email address and account therefore not allowing mr to connect to iTunes.
Here is how I got it fixed.
1. Contacted iTunes store support
2. Followed their instructions and replyed with the following info:
An order number from one of my purchases
Last 4 digits of the c.c. Used for the iTunes store acct
Answer to one of my security questions
And 2 items from this list.
Birthdate
Billing address for Acct
Phone number on acct
It was after all of this that they saw that someone had made an account modification back in February when the issue began. Seems they changed my email address just slightly and that is what kept me from being able to sign in and not a password issue. This was likely due to a phishing email that came out in conjunction with iCloud asking users to change their passwords to a more secure form by adding a capital and number.
To get all of this cleared up it took about 4 days as we emailed back and forth. I also needed a seperate email address they could use to send me info. Once they determined the issues and went to get them fixed by changing the email address associated with the acct and I created a new password I was able to access iTunes with no issues and even my previously thought lost acct balance was there.

Cannot access the iTunes music store.

Is there a block on iTunes music store when you have a Polish address for your iTunes account? Since changing my address to a Polish one, I can no longer access the music store, only the software applications.

I have not been able to assess Itunes for many months - or the online software update function either. I noticed an Internet Explorer logo pops up every time I launch either function (software update or Itunes music store), then it shows the bar download at 1/3rd, where it stays until I get the timed-out message.
I went to update Explorer (in case that was the problem) and Microsoft says it stopped supporting Mac in 2005!
Is that the problem? Is Mac still using a Microsoft browser to access their updates and store, when Microsoft doesn't even support Mac anymore? I suspect so, or else why does the Explorer logo always show up?
I expect Apple is losing a lot of Itunes sales because of this. It appears I am not the only one having this ongoing problem.
Will upgrading my OS help. or will I get the same Explorer logo?

Attempting to purchase a book I was told I needed to go the Canadian bookstore to finalize the purchase, yet I could not find an appropriate app.

Where are you seeing the message, and are you in Canada with a Canadian iTunes account ? If you are in Canada then if you go into the iBooks app on your iPad and tap the Store button at the top left of the bookshelf then you should be taken to the Canadian ibookstore. If it's showing the wrong country's store in it for your account then try going to the bottom of the Books tab in the ibookstore and tap on your account id, tap on 'View Apple ID' on the popup and log into your account, and then select the Country/Region section.

How can DTExec show the execution package progress while running it in the DOS console?

We need to view the package results/progress during the execution of the package by the DTExec command. Isn´t it possible?
The user can´t view the details for the execution by the GUI.
The package is deployed in the SSIDB (Catalog). The final idea is to Audit the result in a *.log file from the Batch we have created. We are not considering to use the "Logging" feature while designing the package. We expect to have same SSIS events
in the DOS console while executing it.
DTExec always says: To view the details for the execution, right-click on the Integration Services Catalog, and open the [All Executions] report
How could it be possible?

I don’t think it is possible to display the package execution details in the Command Prompt when we execute a package stored in the SSISDB catalog. Except for enabling the package logging, we have to view the execution details from the “All Executions” Standard
Report for the SSISDB Catalog.

I had the same thing happen. I hooked my iPod up to my notebook, which has iTunes and is set up for my daughter's iPod 30GB Video. I have the old clickwheel 20 GB. Mine is set up to use my desktop computer. I thought it would not harm it to just charge it on my notebook as long as the notebood was turned off. Then when connecting to desktop, I got the do not disconnect sign..I ended up rebooting the computer and ended up with the sad iPod face. I have reset so many times and cannot restore iPod. I have charged it numerous times with the wall outlet. When connected to the desktop, it just shows the Apple icon. I have reinstalled iTunes. Please let me know if you find an answer to this problem. Best of luck to us both.

Is anybody else experiencing problems accessing the itunes store?

i'm on a macbook pro 10.6.8. my itunes is 10.3.1. i haven't experienced problems before, just today when i was trying to update some iphone apps. the updates wouldn't download and it kept giving me the network timeout error. i checked my connection and everything is working, so it's clearly not a network problem. i also tried logging on to the app store app, and it wouldn't let me. i always get the error connection failed. i am however logged in via itunes. i just couldn't update apps or browse my account info, etc.
i couldn't access the itunes/app store on my iphone either.
i also browsed the various topics on here, which were similar to what i was experiencing and have tried the fixes offered but have had no luck so far. i was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this problem right now? most of the topics i read date as far back at 2007-2008 =/

I live in France, I don't know where you're living but it seems to be a "worldwide problem"...
I'm waiting some answers, but I'm affraid that it an Apple's servers Error. The app store doesn't work on iOS (iphone 4 / 4.3.3) iTunes (MacOSX 10.6.8 iTunes 10.3.1) and on the Mac App Store too (1.0.2)

- First acquire the correct software package. Select iTunes 8.0.2 or iTunes 7.7.1:

Listening to purchaces music without access to iTunes Music store

I put all my purchased music on a USB memory stick and added it to my
iTunes library at work. When I went to play them, I got a popup that
my iTunes couldn't access the iTunes Music Store. Bummer. My work has
me locked out (no access to the music store from work). I'm I just SOL?

They are all like that. Your iPhone is behaving normally.
Is your coworkers iPod Touch syncing music with his work computer? If so, the music will not be greyed out and will work as you are seeing. The iPhone and Touch will have the songs playable only with the library with which they sync.

Mine just says "Connecting to iTunes store" but never connects me. OK, if Apple don't want my money, more fool them, I'll shop elsewhere. It was the same problem the day before yesterday. I ran my regular anti virus and anti spyware checks today, all came up clean and I refuse to start poking about with my PC trying to connect to what is basically a shop. All other sites appear to work ok so I'm pretty sure the problem isn't on my PC. If they want me to buy from them, they could at least have a site that works.
