How do I activate hyperlinks in PDF files converted from WORD

I have created a flyer in Word and converted it to PDF with the Adobe PDF Pack.  The hyperlink to a URL in the doc is not active.  The hyperlink to an email address is.  What do I need to do to activate the URL hyperlink?
Thanks

Hi cjsewmour01,
There's a preference in Reader and Acrobat to "Create Links from URLs." It sounds like that preference is enabled, or the email address wouldn't be hyperlinked. That particular preference looks for link text (http, www, mailto: and so on) in the PDF and then creates hyperlinks for that text. It sounds like Acrobat isn't recognizing the link text--is that particular link formatted correctly?
Best,
Sara

  • Create hyperlinks in PDF file converted from Indesign

OK - i hope you can help me. I created a file on Indesign which I then converted to PDF. Customer wants words in the document Click Here to link to other PDF files.
    I went to:
Tools>Content>Add or Edit Interactive Object> Link
I tried clicking on Link after highlighting the words Click On. Nothing appeared to happen and there was no way/place that I could see to enter the PDF file name.

Once you have the Link tool active you draw the link annotation "box" over the desired text string using the mouse cursor. You follow the dialog(s) to establish what Action you desire the link to perform.
You may want to review Link related information in Acrobat's LiveDocs online Help.

  • How to remove the automatically recognized hyperlinks in PDF after converting from Word?

    Hi everyone!
When converting Word to PDF, texts with "http", "www", or email addresses with "@" are automatically hyperlinked.
The way Adobe Acrobat recognizes URLs is not by the text's underlying hyperlinks rather it is by the actual characters in the text.  If the text contains "http" or "www" it recognizes it as a URL address, if it contains "@", it recognizes it as an email address.
I am aware that you could choose to disable the hyperlinks by going to Edit - Preferences - General - untick Create links from URLs. However, other users who have this ticked will still be able to click on the hyperlinks.
In Word, you can specify whether to add a hyperlink or not, or to direct the hyperlink to a different path.  But in Adobe Acrobat, it automatically recognizes the hyperlink by its text.  I know it is possible to manually add a hyperlink to a PDF, but is it possible to remove the automatically recognized hyperlinks?
Is there also some sort of ADM administrative template for this purpose?
    Thanks.
    .m.u.r.d.o.c.h.

I was thinking it could be possible with a document-level script that
removes all links, but then I saw that the link Acrobat adds are not real
link objects, so a script can't remove them. Therefore I think the answer is
no, you can't do it. The only way might be to use shorter addresses in order
to confuse Acrobat into thinking they're just plain text. For example, use "
google.com" instead of "http://www.google.com/". In my tests it remained as
    plain text.

  • How do I get a print to pdf file option from Word and PP?

I have windows vista. How do I get a print to pdf file option from Word and PP?

Do you own Acrobat? If so what version? If not what version of Word and PP do you have? Newer versions contain non-Adobe software for creating pdfs. If you do not own Acrobat that it would be best to check in a Microsoft forum on how to use Word to create pdfs.

  • Hyperlinks in PDF files exported from Numbers 3.1

The new Numbers is slooowly starting to rock. The new ability to sort and rearrange ranged area is awesome.
I work with PR and we make reports to our clients. These reports are delivered in PDF files.
I have a serious problem with Numbers 3.1 and the hyperlinks included in my report - an exported PDF file. The hyperlinks seems to be randomly mixed up. If I press a certain link for a URL, the PDF might redirect me to the correct page or .. might redirect me another page from the report.
When I work in Numbers 3.1 sheet everything works just fine, all the hyperlinks are opened correctly. The problem only occours when it's exported as PDF.
My current procedure is to work in Numbers 3.1 and once a report is ready to be handed over to the client, I export it in Numbers 2.3 format and then export it as PDF - where all the hyperlinks work correctly.
But it would be sooo much more professionel and cool if everything just worked perfectly with Numbers 3.1.
    - Has anyone experienced this as well?
    - Does any one know if it's a bug - or if it me who's doing something silly?
    Thanks for all ears.
    Jakob

    Hi Jakob,
BlackPlum suggets: "Thankfully, I noticed that in the Export... dialog box, (from the File Menu), you can select "Current Sheet" in the Layout field (this field defaults to "All Sheets", it's easy to miss). So select Current Sheet, and voila, you now have a pdf with multiple pages (and clickable hyperlinks!)."
Though my Export To ... PDF does not have such an option.
Hope a solution will come soon.
Numbers 3.1 with a very long table (will not fit on one page when printing) and two sheets.
    B2 contains  an active hyperlink.
    B32 contains an active hyperlink.
    Menu > File > Print >
    And on the right,
    Now click on Print...
Now click on PDF (bottom left)
    Save as PDF
Here is the PDF opened in Preview (zoomed out to make a smaller screen shot)
    Two pages .
Both of those hyperlinks are active.
    Clicking on this one:
    takes me to
    apple.com/sitemap.
(Proof coming in my next reply. Having trouble with posting the screen shot.)

    Ian.

  • Www and http not displaying in pdf files converted from MS Word

When I convert a Word document to pdf using Acrobat Pro 9.0, the website addresses do not display correctly. For instance, if my document shows www.website.com - then the pdf only displays .website.com. Also, if I have the http://www.website.com - I get ://www.website.com. Please HELP! I remember having this problem when I used the trial version of Acrobat 9.0, but stumbled upon the solution. I can't figure it out this time.

You'll want to ask your question in the Acrobat forum rather than here in the Reader forum.

  • Editing PDF When Converted from Word to PDF

I converted a word document to PDF. When I opened the file to edit and use the OCR Text Recognition it said could not edit because of renderable text.
I also have photos and website links in the document.
What can I do so I can edit the text?

    Thanks for your quick responses.
Yes I do. I guess I need to re- edit in word. I just thought I could edit it in 9.0 Pro as well. I was getting some large spaces in between  some paragraphs. In word the spaces do not look as large.
Also if you know if there is a way to make it so the links are workable. I plan to make the text protected from copy and paste, etc etc. This  is going to be an informative Ebook and I want the users to be able to click on the links and continue to various websites.

  • Why are hyperlinks no longer working in PDF, when converted from Word?

I have Acrobat Professional 11 and have recently upgraded my PC with a new operating system (Windows 8). I can't remember how to find out what version of Word I now have, but it should be a fairly recent version, given its new. Since the upgrade, when converting Word documents to PDF using the "Create Form" function in Adobe Pro 11, only full hyperlinks (with the @ symbol) are working in PDF, not other hyperlinks that we've renamed. Under the old operating system, ALL hyperlinks used to transfer & work when converted ... am I missing a checkbox somewhere?? HELP please, I have loads of word documents to convert and it's very time-consuming to have to do weblinks manually!!

First off, Word should show you the version on a splash screen when you launch it.
Also, what happens to the links if you just open the document in Word and save it as a PDF?

  • Hyperlinks in a PDF document converted from Word 2003

I have a large document for our state's mathematics vocabulary. It has internal hyperlinks to help someone navigate the document. I created it in Word 2003 and converted it to PDF using the tool in the menu bar. When finished, the PDF document has some working hyperlinks near the beginning (about a third of them), but most of the links (in the last two-thirds) do not work. I have also tried doing the conversion from Adobe Acrobat Professional 8 (8.1.4), but I get the same results. Can someone help me solve this problem so the PDF document has all working links? Thanks.

Yes, you can create a script in Acrobat that loops through the links and adjusts the link's "rect" property to suit your needs. You'll want to consult the Acrobat JavaScript Reference, and look at the doc.getLinks method in particular: http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.479.html
along with the Link object properties: http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.802.html
Post again if you get stuck.
I don't know what control you have over this on the InDesign side of things. You may want to ask in one of the InDesign forums if you haven't already.

  • Missing Text in PDF When Converting from Word

Has anyone had this problem before?  We have Adobe Acrobat 8 and this has happened twice in the past year.  We have a Word 2003 document then convert it to PDF and a line will be missing from the top of a page in the middle of the document.

With WORD 2003, set the printer to the Adobe PDF printer and then go back through the document to check for the layout and such. Then print (or use PDF Maker). The other option is to go into the WORD Options, way down in a list of compatibility settings, and turn off use printer metrics. I think either of these will solve your problem.
