How do I activate Macromedia Studio 8. The legacy activation (Error: Unable to Activate | Macromedia products) seems to apply only to Macromedia Studio MX and MX 2004, but not to Studio 8.

There will be no options to download this software anymore via Adobe. Adobe used to have the policy only a backup DVD of the last version was available for 25 / 35 dollar / euro. Normally based on a previous version you can update with a discount to the last one and have a download. For this 'old version' there are no upgrade paths or discounts offered.

Using a MacBook Pro and Adobe CS2 and Macromedia Studio

I was planning on buying a MacBook Pro. Right now my Dell desktop has a 2.4ghz Celeron and I really want to get my first Mac. I'm sick of Windows!! I was wondering how Studio and CS2 (especially Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and Flash Pro) will run under Rosseta on the 1.83ghz compared to my Celeron? And how much RAM will I need?

Cannot speak about CS2 for macs as I have only used it on Windows. When I bought my new mac I could only afford to buy one suite, so now I only use the Macromedia Studio package as this contains more of what I need. In particular it contains Fireworks (as a replacement for CS2) which is sufficient for the level of photo editing I need, plus I find it easier to create web graphics. Also I like the way it interacts with Dreamweaver and Flash sweetly. Maybe worth considering instead of CS2 if your budget is a little tight like mine was!
Now, Performance. The loading times are between 4 and 8 seconds, depending on the number of other processes I have running, which for Adobe products is fairly comparible to Windows I seem to remember. When loaded I bearly notice any lag times at all - occasionly when you try and do too many things too quickly you get the classic beachball for a few seconds, but as long as you are a little more calm when using them they are perfect - as good as on Windows I'd say.
Considering I have a 1.83 GHZ with only 1 GB RAM the performance left me very impressed. Can't wait for the Universal versions as they are going to be "screamers"!
PS - people have posted differences in performance when using Rosetta apps when using the same spec machines. So what someone may say using the same machine as you may not actually be what you experience...

How Do I Use DVD Studio Pro Files In iDVD?

I had somebody create a DVD for me using DVD Studio Pro. (This was a compilation of many different videos.) It turned out great.
I now want to make a DVD of one of those videos on my own using iDVD '08.
I have the raw video/audio files. But, my problem is the raw files that were used for the DVD Studio Pro project are separated into one video file and one audio file. I don't know how I can get them both into iDVD. I was told that I have to recombine these two files into one file. But, how do I do this and still maintain the best quality?
(I am not a video expert by any means, but I can tell you that the video file is a ".mpeg" and the audio file is an ".ac3". When looking at the .mpeg file in the finder it lists its Kind as "MPEG Movie" and when looking at the .ac3 file in the finder it lists its Kind as "Unix Executable File".)
(I'm using iDVD 7.0.1 - I do have Quicktime Pro - I do not have the Quicktime MPEG-2 Playback component - I do not have DVD Studio Pro)

A: You don't, essentially.
DVDSP is apple's top end app and it is intended to be used with FCP > Compressor > DVDSP. All of these are pro apps.
i-Apps are consumer apps all of which are QT based. With that in mind ....
now that doesn't mean you can't use FCP > iDvd. You can. But you have to do it in a way that iDvd will read all the files (meaning you must think in terms of QuickTime and export in this way). So when you export your QT File / Movie from FCP over to iDvd, it will look something like this hopefully regardless of the raw image & audio files you have already compiled which unfortunately will NOT work with i-Apps BUT will work with apple's pro apps which is the intended workflow / direction of said files in the first place.
Btw ... if your QT movie has chapter markers then please use the following settings so iDvd can read these markers. (if on the other hand you were looking to export this file to DVDSP; then you would choose DVDSP Markers.

I don't think that you can do it with older MacBook's which have iSight cameras on them, the redeem by camera lists requirements as :
Mac with a FaceTime camera (an Apple Display with FaceTime works too)
I think that you will need to manually enter the card's code

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking, but I'll try to answer! You can either connect to iTunes and set up and activate there, or you can also use the setup assistant to set up your iPhone. As far as carrier activation, you'll have to follow the protocol that your carrier uses. Either switch SIM card, or call the number they use to allow device activation.
