How do I activate used IPhone
I bought a used IPhone, and went to the AT&T store, as instructed, and obtained a new SIM Card. I am an existing AT&T customer. But when I put the new SIM Card in, and try to activate the phone via ITunes, I do not receive any activation screens. ITunes shows up with all the previous owners information (name, phone, etc).
How do I get the phone activated under my existing plan with my existing # when ITunes does not seem to recognize that it is a new SIM?
i found that i had horrable coverage with tmobile and what i did was changed my address to say a friend or family members location that i knew i did not have tmobile coverage and they let me out of my contract since i "moved" to a new location where i did not have service

You need to enter the id, and the password, of the account that the phone is linked to.
Did you buy the phone new or used ? If you bought the phone used and it's still linked to the previous owner's account then you will have to contact the previous owner and ask him/her to remove the phone from their account : Find My iPhone Activation Lock: Removing a device from a previous owner’s account - Apple Support.
If you bought the phone new and it's your account then enter the id and password that you were using in Settings > iCloud on it -

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking, but I'll try to answer! You can either connect to iTunes and set up and activate there, or you can also use the setup assistant to set up your iPhone. As far as carrier activation, you'll have to follow the protocol that your carrier uses. Either switch SIM card, or call the number they use to allow device activation. Is that what you were wanting to know?

If you mean activating it as far as using it on your phone plan, then you're going to have to go to your cell provider and have them do that for you and add the device to your current plan. Otherwise without activating it, the most your iPhone will be, is a thick iPod. Of course with wifi, you could still send iMessages, but that's the extent without adding it to a cell plan.

If your phone was previously hacked to unlock it, when you updated the hack was removed and it's re-locked to the original carrier. The phone will now activate and operate only with that original carrier.
