How do I add a Bing to my search bar?

When I try to add Bing to my search bar in FF 35.0.1, I get the following message:
Firefox could not install the search plugin from "https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/downloads/latest/10434/addon-10434-latest.xml?src=search" because an engine with the same name already exists.
I do not have Bing in my search engine list. It looks like FF believes that I do. How can I add it?

Don't worry about that. But please post your solution so
that others will know what to do.
Here are some free gifts;
'''[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/context-search/ Context Search]''' {web link}
Expands the context menu's 'Search for' item into a list of
installed search engines, allowing you to choose the engine
you want to use for each search.
Bookmark and use this;
'''[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/searchreset/ Mozilla Search Reset]''' {web link}
This add-on is very simple: on installation, it backs up and
then resets your search preferences and home page to their
default values, and then uninstalls itself. This affects the
search bar, URL bar searches, and the home page.
'''[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/settings-guard Settings Guard for Firefox]''' {web link}
Detects and resets changes to settings that are frequently done
by add-ons and application installers.
'''[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/searchthissite/ SearchThisSite]''' {web link}
Allows you to search the website currently viewed with
the website's internal search engine (and not the default
FF search engine or an external engine)

  • How to get rid of Bing in the search bar

    When downloading a game (someone not me) failed to uncheck the box for downloading a gamesbar. IE, Chrome & Firefox got a new homepage and Bing as default search engine. I fixed the homepages. I believe I fixed the search engine on all but firefox. I uninstalled the gamesbar & any games that came with it. I also uninstalled Firefox,deleted the firefox setup.exe file, then downloaded Firefox & installed it. Guess what persists...Bing in the searchbar. This is to the right of the address bar. I hate Bing.
    This feels invasive. I cannot figure out what to do. I won't use Firefox until I get rid of Bing. I wonder why it is easier to drop Bing from both IE & Chrome. Anyway, Please someone help me.

    Right-click on your [[Search bar]], click "Manage Search Engines", then select the one you wish to remove and click "Remove".
    Also note that in current versions of Firefox, both Yahoo and Bing do come preinstalled as an available search to select, though Google is the default. Some people requested them I think, but the list should always be customizable.
    If simply removing it from your list doesn't work, you may have some dubious addon forcing things for you. -> [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]

  • How do I add an image to my navigation bar?

    How do I add an image to my navigation bar? I created my own. Let's say for example I wanted to a page dedicated to the lakers rss feed, and instead of having text in the box "Lakers", I want it to be the lakers logo. I already have the hyperlink in that box working.

    That didn't sound right:

    Hello Everyone
    I upgrade my iMac to OS x Lion 10.8.2  but I cannot see the icloud in my Safari Menu bar. How can I add iCloud to my safari menu bar? Thanks.

    Look in customize toolbar for the icon and drag it to the toolbar.

  • How do I add to the list of search options?

    When I start typing, I get a list with Google, Google Maps, Wikipedia, and Twitter.  How do I add, for example, dictionary.com or Bing to that list?
    Thanks!

    it will not be permanently added to the list.
    It should stay there as long as you don't change it.

  • How do you Add a Link in Nav. Bar to a different site?

    I would like to add a link to the Nav Bar that goes to a location of my choice. Is that possible in iWeb? If So, how?
    Thanks
    Neil

    Here's a way to do it:
    1 - create a blank page with the name you want to appear in the navbar.
    2 - publish the site.
    3 - edit the html file of the page and put the following in the head section of the file:
    <meta http-equiv="REFRESH" content="0;url=http://www.the-domain-you-want-to-redirect-to.com">.
    Replace the “0” with the number of seconds you would like to pass before the redirection takes place. Put in the URL of your destination site.
    As long as you never make any more changes to that page or use the Publish All to MobileMe option you won't have to reedit the html file and add the code all over again. This is a demo of that feature with an 8 second lag.
    Now the external page will be in your navbar.

  • How do I add  "little icons" to my status bar on iPad 2?

    How do I add those  "little icons" to my status bar in iPad 2?

    What little icons might you be talking about? If you are asking about the thumbnail views in Safari, there is nothing that you can do to change the way that Safari works on the iPad. Safari now uses tabs.
    If that's not what you are asking about, please provide some details.
    EDIT - OK. I get it now .....

  • I can't get rid of bing in the search bar

    How can I get my default search engine back to google?  Everything I put into the search bar gets searched with bing as the search engine.

    You may have installed the "Genieo" or "InstallMac" ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it.
    Back up all data before making any changes.
    Besides the files listed in the linked support article, you may also need to remove this file in the same way:
    ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieo.completer.ltvbit.plist
    If there are other items with a name that includes "Genieo" or "genieo" alongside any of those you find, remove them as well.
    One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
    If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, then you may have one of the other kinds of adware covered by the support article. Follow the rest of the instructions in the article.
    Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. Chances are you got it from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
    In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
    Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
              Install system data files and security updates
    if it's not already checked.

  • Updated Firefox, now when I open a new tab, there is two seperate google search bars; how do I get rid of the unnecessary search bar?

    I updated Firefox, and after I restarted it, when I opened a new tab, I found that I now had two Google search bars: one next to where you type web addresses, and one right above my pinned sites (or my frequently visited sites). I'm just trying to:
    1. Figure out why it is necessary to have two of the pretty much identically useful search bars when I really only need one (or can physically type Google in)
    and
    2. How do I get rid of the unnecessary second Google search bar above my frequently visited and therefore pinned sites.
    If you have any ideas of how to remove this annoying addition, I would appreciate it.

    I am guessing that you installed an extension, related to "new tab", which added the first search bar. Firefox 31 in includes a search bar for the "new tab" page; so now you have two.
    Take a look at that extension (Options or Preferences) to see how to disable ones of those 2 search bars. Or see if an update has been released for that extension, specifically for Firefox 31, with an option to disable the search bar.

  • How to disable drag-and-drop tabs to search bar?

    I always have a lot of tabs open in Firefox, and oftentimes I move tabs around, whether intentionally or habitually (and accidentally). The problem is that a lot of times the tab is dragged on/near the search bar and this causes Firefox to respond by copying the tab's address to the search and start searching.
    I would like to disable one or both of these. I never use this, especially since whatever address I'm at is already found and if I actually wanted to search for it then I would just copy it and search myself. I want to disable the auto search and if possible, also disable copying the address.

    It is possible for window creation, note this work around: [http://www.ghacks.net/2012/12/04/firefox-disable-tab-drag-and-drop-window-creation/] However I did not find one for general dragging/moving tabs.
    Another add on that provided more customization tricks is known as:
    "[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/tab-mix-plus/?src=search]"
    Did this help?
    </blockquote>
    No; as I said, my problem is tabs and the search bar. I drag tabs into new windows practically everyday and the other doesn't seem to have anything related to this either. I only read the description and looked at the pictures and etc, so I did not download it to give it a thorough review prior to declining it as it doesn't seem at all related.
    Curious:
    Does that ghacks thing also disable the tab-search thing in addition to disabling new windows, or did you just post a completely different tab-drag-drop related issue?
    (not rhetorical or sarcastic, I'm actually asking)

  • How do you get [(webcrawler) searchengine]in the search bar? Or will it work with foxfire?

    I can appreciate that the search bar already has google, yahoo and bing search in it's search bar. But is there any way to put webcrawler.com in the search bar as a search engine. I tried to figure it out but with no luck. Thanks for reading my question, and any help at all would be appreciated.

    In addition to what John said, Final Cut Pro X is a digital download from the Mac App Store. To see if your MacBook meets the requirements, see > http://www.apple.com/finalcutpro/specs/ Anyway, the App Store will give you an error if your MacBook isn't compatible.
    Since the Final Cut Pro X launch, it's only available at the Mac App Store, so you can't get it in a DVD. Instead, there's an advantage: you can install it as many times as you want in all your Macs for free

  • How do you add a menus to a menu bar???

    /** This method is called from within the constructor to
    * initialize the form.
    * WARNING: Do NOT modify this code. The content of this method is
    * always regenerated by the FormEditor.
    I can't edit the code
    (eg. private void initComponents() {
    menuBar = new javax.swing.JMenuBar();
    fileMenu = new javax.swing.JMenu();
    saveMenuItem = new javax.swing.JMenuItem();
    following the above comments...
    can anyone tell me how to add menus to a menu bar???
    I am very new to Forte ...

    In the form editor, select the JMenuBar in your form, right click on it and you will see a menu item call Add which will display a sub-menu for things like JMenuItem and so on.
    The reason why Forte prevents you from editing those portions of the source code is because Forte completely rewrites those portions automatically. Any changes you may have made outside of Forte will then be lost.

  • Loaded 20.1. When I add Session Manager extension, address & search bars disappear. Can't retreive unless I reload Firefox from scratch. How to fix?

    No prior Firefox version. Started with 20.1. Have not loaded 20.1 on my other computers, so i don't know if the problem is universal. Need Session Manager because Firefox crashes frequently.

    Session Manager has had a lot of bug fixes the past week, I suspect mostly related to the new per-window private browsing feature. Could you try the new version 0.8.0.5? You need to use the "Versions" page to get it, as it hasn't yet been approved for the main page:
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/session-manager/versions/#version-0.8.0.5
    Hope that helps. You'll also see some even newer pre-release versions addressing specific bugs. I wouldn't try those just yet unless you see that one of them fixes issues you find in 0.8.0.5.
