How can I add books that I want to read to my Kobo app on my iPhone?

Connect the phone to your computer and click on its icon in your computer's iTunes to select it. Then select the phone's Apps tab, and scroll down the screen to the 'file sharing' section - select the Kobo app on the left-hand side of that part of the iTunes screen, and on the right-hand side add the PDF(s) to the app. Or if the PDFs or epubs are on a website then you might be able to use 'open in' in Safari to copy them to it
If those other apps support the file sharing section then you should be able to use the above to copy videos into them from your computer (you won't be able to play iTunes purchased videos in them ).

Okay Chris, thanks. I may have misremembered getting the other pdfs via the shared conduit. I may have dragged them from my PC -- it's been a long time since I used this system.
One more thing. Somewhere along the things I was doing recently I asked to sync the Books. It was then that I received a message that more than one library was synced to this iPad! It asked whether I wanted to erase this iPad and sync with the current iTunes library! I did change my Apple password a few days ago -- could that explain it? It could explain why only some of my books are visible in iTunes. But I don;t want to erase my current iPad!
I think I will exit and go back in again afresh.

If this is a 4th (or 3rd) gen shuffle, and you use automatic syncing for loading songs... Select the shuffle in iTunes. There is a row of "tabs" (buttons) starting with Summary. Click on Books there. This is the Books tab, where you tell iTunes how to sync audiobooks to the shuffle. Set it up as desired, and click Apply.
NOTE: If your shuffle is currently NOT set up for automatic syncing, its content will be replaced by content selected in the sync settings.
If you are NOT using automatic syncing for songs, so you have been loading songs manually by dragging them to the shuffle in iTunes, then you should NOT do the above. Instead, you can load audiobooks the same way. Drag the books you want to the shuffle from your Books library in iTunes.
If this is a 1st or 2nd gen shuffle, it is different. Please post back.

I know that you can add email accounts likeHotmail into your Mail app so that you can view, edit, modify, create and delete your emails and folders, etc. The questions I have are (1) can I see all the emails I have not just in the inbox but all the other folders as well just like if I was logging on to Hotmail via Internet Explorer ? (2) what happens if I read some emails, delete or move some emails, create new emails and send or save in draft, create or delete folders, etc in the Mail app on my MacBook Pro, will this synchronize and reflect the same on my Hotmail account if I was to logging via Internet Explorer ? I think this is probably a sign that your network could be better than it is.
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first.
