How do I add a Bookmark to an existing (or add a new) folder in my synced Desktop Bookmarks?

Firefox does not seem to give me this option.

Currently this is not a feature in Firefox for Android. Currently the only way to manage bookmarks in Firefox for Android is by using a Desktop installation that is synced between Firefox for Android and Firefox for Desktop. [[How do I set up Firefox Sync?]]

  • Is there another way to bring your existing bookmarks over to firefox loaded on a new PC without using sync? Something similar to how you do it in Thunderbird?

Why do you need a sync key in the first place? XMarks works perfectly for bookmarks without one? Why not allow people to save and access their data with just a login name and a password. You logon from any device and sync your info to firefox on the new device? Maybe I am missing something but the sync application is worthless, get somebody to redesign it so it is simple and it works. Please provide some instructions also. People don't have time to write down a sync key as well as logon names and passwords. Another layer just complicates the issue. Please explain?
Think data is saved from an existing PC and trying to load it into firefox on a new PC, sync key is incorrect and may have deleted data anyway because requested new sync key. How do I find out if the existing data from account is still on the sync servers?

    You ask many questions!
To answer your subject line, yes, you can move bookmarks around three ways:
    (1) places.sqlite database file - contains your bookmarks AND history
    (2) JSON-format backup file from the bookmarkbackups folder in your currently active Firefox settings (AKA profile) folder
    (3) HTML-format export file generated from the Bookmarks Organizer (Library) dialog
The first two are more complete. The third lacks certain information such as tags but can be imported into an existing installation of Firefox without wiping out the bookmarks that are already there.
    Articles with more info:
    * [[Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer]]
    * [[Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles]]
    * [[Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file to back up or transfer bookmarks]]
    * [[Import Bookmarks from an HTML file]]
With respect to your questions about Firefox Sync:
Each sync account is separate. If you got the warning that selecting a new key would erase your data, and you did it anyway, then your data is gone. Even if your data is not gone, it would have been inaccessible without your recovery key.
Sync is designed not to require your recovery key unless you end up with zero PCs connected to your sync account. As long as one PC is connected, you can generate a short code to join another PC to the account. (By PC I mean installation/profile of Firefox.)

  • Is there a way to add files to a package without repackaging in a new folder?

So I'm working on this promotional binder for a company. I'm working section by section including photos and whatnot. Anyways, I got to a certain point with one section and packaged everything so I could start anew the following day.
My question is this: is there a way for me to add files to the InDesign file I already packaged WITHOUT having to repackage in a new folder and archive the old one?
I mean it just seems to me that I SHOULD be able to select the package option and the work would repackage/update the package, much like a Word file would when you select the save button.
(And if there isn't, is someone at Adobe paying attention that could make this a possibility? That would be fantastic.)

You can Add images to your package by using the Links Panel submenu (top right) and choose Utilities> copy links to...
And you can select the images you want first - or don't select any to copy them all.
    Fonts - not so much.
But that's one easy way to get new images into your packaged folder.
But I don't like this to be honest. I much prefer creating a new Package and calling it "Version 2" or "Final Artwork" or something that is right by your file naming convention.

  • I cannot add any bookmarks to my existing ones with the new 30.0 firefox.

I updated to firefox 30.0. Now, I can't create any new bookmarks. I've clicked on the little star icon and it bops over to the clipboard icon. However, when I check for unsorted bookmarks it does not appear. I have checked in the bookmarks button at the top of the page and it shows up nowhere. I've never had a problem with bookmarks before and have sorted them into many folders. I have tried several things, and no matter what I have done I cannot create a new bookmark. I reset firefox to default, but this still did not fix my bookmark problem. I tried erasing a few bookmarks to make room, but that didn't help. I tried dragging the address straight into my folders. This used to work on the old version. Now, no matter what I do I cannot create a new bookmark. This is very frustrating. I wish I hadn't updated. My MacBook Air is less than a year old and uses OS X.

You can check for problems with the <b>places.sqlite</b> database file in the Firefox profile folder.

  • How to make applescript to select every 3rd file to move to new folder?

I have an interesting 'problem' I think.
As a result of a time-lapse experminent, I have a folder which holds several thousands of pictures from a fixed point, made over several days & nights.
But there is one issue: the camera made 3 different exposures every 5 seconds.
This resulted in every 3rd picture 'belonging' to each other. So these have to be selected for going in a seperate folder. Menaing: pictures 1 and 4 and 7 and 10 .... they must go in one folder. 2 and 4 and 8 and 11.. in the second folder. Finally 3 and 5 and 9 and 12 in a third folder.
How to do this with software (to avoid injury) because of the thousands of pics.
Is this do-able with applescript? How?
    Tnx

    Hello
You may try something like the following script.
Main part is written in shell script for performance sake. AppleScript is only used for user interface.
Please see comments in script for its usage and behaviour.
And please test the script first with small subset of your images.
(Since the script will scan the source folder tree for image files, it is good idea not to create destination folders in source folder tree.)
Minimally tested with OSX10.2 at hand but NO WARRANTIES of any kind.
Make sure you have full backup of your images before applying this script.
    Hope this may help,
    H
    image file (jpg) sorter
    v0.2
Script will let you choose two folders, i.e. -
    a) source folder where images reside (directory tree under the chosen folder is scanned),
    b) destination parent folder where three subfolders will be made (named '0', '1', '2').
The file number i is obtained by removing extension and non-digts from file name.
The file with number i (0-based) in source tree will be moved to (i mod 3)'th subfolder in destination.
    e.g.,
    IMG_1440.JPG -> '0' (i = 1440, i mod 3 = 0)
    IMG_1441.JPG -> '1' (i = 1441, i mod 3 = 1)
    IMG_1442.JPG -> '2' (i = 1442, i mod 3 = 2)
    IMG_1443.JPG -> '0' ...
    IMG_9997.JPG -> '1'
    IMG_9998.JPG -> '2'
    IMG_9999.JPG -> '0'

  • How can i sinc the content on my existing ipod to my new pc without erasing all the content on my ipod?

i recently purchased a new computer. now i cant sync any new music from i tunes to my existing ipod (classic) w/o getting a message to erase all of my existing content and start over. Help. is there a way to sync new music w/o erasing my existing ipod library?

See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different methods available for copying content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.  Once you have successfully done that, you can safely choose the Erase and Sync option.

  • How do I transfer logic pro from my existing mac to my new macbook pro with no cd drive?

I have logic already installed on my mac desktop. I have just bought a macbook pro and I am trying to install my legitimate copy of logic onto my new mac, unfortunately Apple in their wisdom have removed the cd drive so the simplest option i.e. use the install disc is no longer an option..
I have tried using 'remote disc' but my desktop is not transferring the information this way, apparently it is because I have not upgraded to yosamite. I don't want to upgrade to yosamite as it has compatibility issues with another music software I use (maschine). Basically if I upgrade to yosamite I won't be able to use maschine.
If anyone out there can offer me a solution to my problem I will be very grateful. thanks

Assuming you are talking about the boxed set of Logic Studio (Logic Pro 9) on DVDs the only solutions are to either borrow or purchase an external CD/DVD drive and use that with your new MBP.
Amazon sells a very reasonably priced 'Amazon Basics' external CD/DVD drive suitable for the process...
    http://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Portable-External-Optical-Drive/dp/B003M0NT1M /ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1416924310&sr=8-1&keywords=CD+DVD+external+drive+amazon+ basics
Do NOT try and copy Logic across from your Mac to your MBP using something like Time Machine or Migration Assistant... 99% of the time, doing so results in all kind of weird issues later on.
Just install Logic pro 9 plus all it's content from scratch using the DVDs provided with Logic Studio Boxed set.....

  • Every time I create a new folder on my iMac desktop, the folder immediately copies every other folder and file on my desktop, so that I now have multiple, unwanted copies of every folder taking up memory.  What caused this and how do I fix it?  Thanks.

I also can not move any items on my desktop to another spot on the screen.

    Holy cow!???
Here's an older cure I'd try...
First, Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), use Disk Utility from there to Repair Permissions, test if things work OK in Safe Mode.
Then move these files to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.sidebarlists.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.recentitems.plist
    Reboot & test.
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.

  • How do i get a list of file names in to a new folder?

    Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a way of having a list of  image file names, searching for the images then putting them into a new folder?  I'm guessing it can probably be done through mac scripting but I know nothing about scripting and genreally not great with technogy so ideally need step by step instructions!!
If anyone can help I would really appreciate it!!
    Ruth

Without details about your workflow and folder set up, I can only give you a generic script, but this should at least get us started.  test it and see what needs to be tweaked.
-- set paths to source and destination folders
set imageSourcePath to POSIX path of (choose folder with prompt "Choose a source folder.")
set destinationFolder to POSIX file POSIX path of (choose folder with prompt "Choose a destination folder.")
-- get file names from text file: assumes one name per line.
set fileNameTextFile to (choose file with prompt "Choose a file list text file." of type "public.plain-text")
set fileNames to paragraphs of (read fileNameTextFile)
    repeat with thisFileName in fileNames
-- replace each file name with an alias to that image file
set contents of thisFileName to POSIX file (imageSourcePath & thisFileName)
    end repeat
    tell application "Finder"
-- using 'duplicate' because I assume you want to make copies rather than move files
      duplicate fileNames to destinationFolder
    end tell

  • Cannot find a way to edit bookmarks or add new folder as there is not a category edit bookmarks when I pull down the bookmark menu

  • Ios Safari. How do I save new bookmark in new folder AT THE SAME TIME??

    I'm dumbfounded.
I'm on ios7 using an iphone, on Safari...
and I find a page I want to bookmark.
So I click the "share" button, click "Bookmark" to add it. Fine. Then I get options to choose a folder to store it in. Yay!
But nay! There is no option to save it in a brand NEW folder that doesn't already exist!
Do I REALLY have to cancel, click the bookmarks menu, click edit, click new folder, create a new folder... then go back to the share button, and save the bookmark in the new folder??
I can't be bothered to count the number of steps I have to take to do this but, it seems like TOO MANY!!
Am I being dumb? Is there an easier way?
Am I the only one who finds this infuriatingly inefficient?

To emphasise my point: To do this it appears that I actually have to:
    1. click Cancel (upon realising I'm an idiot for thinking it could be so simple)
    2. click the bookmarks menu,
    3. click Edit,
    4. click New Folder,
    5. type the name of new folder,
    6. click Done.
    7. click Done again.
    8. err... So "done" doesn't mean done apparently, so click Done YET AGAIN
    9. then click the share button
    10. click Bookmark
    11. click Location
    12. choose the folder
    13. click Save
Who is designing all this software? And how did they get the job?

  • HT4859 how do i restore icloud backup to existing iphone not a new device

how do i restore icloud backup to an existing phone not a new device

You need to perform a reset (settings>General, scroll to bottom of screen).  This will delete everything on the device.  Then connect to iTunes and it will offer to perform a reset from either iTunes backup or iCloud.  Take it from there.

If you use extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) like <i>Adblock Plus</i> or <i>NoScript</i> or <i>Flash Block</i> that can block content then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.
You can use one of these to start Firefox in <u>Safe mode</u>:
*On Windows, hold down the Shift key while starting Firefox with a double-click on the Firefox desktop shortcut
*On Mac, hold down the Options key while starting Firefox
*Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
If it works in Firefox Safe-mode then disable all extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.
Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
