How do I add a "halo" around a specific object

Hi,
I'm using Premier Elements 4.0. I do alot of football video for my son's football games. I'd like to be able to put a halo around a particular player for highlights. is that possible in PE4? Please help! thanks!

Of course it's possible, and there are half a dozen ways to do it.
The simplest is to open the titler workspace (click on the "T" on the bottom of the Monitor panel) and either type an "O" in the titler or draw a circle and, using the color tools, give it a stroke but no fill. Then position this object or letter over your son in your video.
If you're son is moving and you want to track him, you'll need to keyframe a motion for the title so that it follows him.

    You would need an image editor to edit the images and add a border to the image first before importing them into Final Cut.

  • How do I add an outline around an image in Elements 10

    I have an image that I created via Elements 10... The main body of the image is black and I am wanting to add a white outline around the image so I can place the image on a black background... Can someone advise how to add an outline including colorizing the outline around the image... Thanks

    Depending on what you want, you may need to add some canvas to give the border a place to be (Image>Resize>Canvas Size) but you can just press Ctrl+A/Cmd+A to select all, then go to Edit>Stroke (outline) selection, where you can choose the parameters of the border stroke. You can't choose Outside for the location, though, since that would put it off the canvas entirely where it wouldn't be visible.

  • How can I add a frame around a photo?

    Can I add a frame to a photo in iPhoto without creating a book, calendar, or card?
    If not what other - simple - application can I use to do that?

    If you've looked through Themes and don't like them or the process of getting to them, there are a bunch of applications which will allow you to add borders or frames to images. Some are even free.
    I like GraphicConverter, which is about $35 in the Mac App Store. Also in the Mac App Store and free is SketchBookExpress.
    Remember to export the photos you wish to work with from iPhoto in order to access them with other applications.

  • How can I add a custom property to an object, like a paragraph?

    Hi,
    We have a merge process that combine multiple document into one and I need to store the filename of the imported file at the beginning of each merge point.   Each document that we merge contains a Title paragraph and I was wrongly assuming that I could set the label property of this paragraph with my value for future references, but only to find out that the paragraph object doesn't have a label property.
    I also tried setting a custom property by doing this
    paragraph.properties["myCustomProperty"] = "value";
    It doesn't crash, but if I try reading the value it is always undefined.
    I'm looking for alternative, or on how would you approach this, can you please advice?
    Your help is much appreciated.
    Thanks

    You could label the paragraph's parent story. Is that any good?
    Peter.
    Well I tought about it, but then I have to find a way to keep track of which paragraph this value belongs to and so far I havent found a way to uniquely identify a paragraph and I can't assume that the merged document won't be edited so I can't use the index.
    Peter Kahrel wrote:
    Otherwise use a paragraph property that you never use and that doesn't affect composition, such as .bulletsTextAfter

    It may be an alternative, but that may cause problem in the furture if they ever decide to use or change that properties.  Plus, I'm not sure if can put anything I want in there, but that would be worth the try.

  • How do I add new methods to a pointstyle object?

    Using a scatterplot, I change each point's color (and shape) to reflect the range of the Y-value passed in. This is done with an override to the "draw" function (see below). Right now the Y-value ranges are "hardcoded" in the override. I would like to be able to dynamically change the range with a user entry at runtime.
    I have tried adding a public function to my code which could be called to change the value of the range variable, but .NET does not recognize it. Can this, in fact, be done, or is there an alternate scheme to accomplish the same thing?
    thanks.
    Code (partial):
    public class DynamicPointStyle : PointStyle
    private rangeHigh = 5;
    private rangeLow = 2;
    public override void Draw(obj
    ect context, PointStyleDrawArgs args)
    double yValue = args.Y;
    if (Math.Abs(yValue) > rangeHigh) //5dB
    PointStyle.Plus.Draw(context, CreateArgs(args, Color.Red));
    else if (Math.Abs(yValue) > rangeLow) //2dB
    PointStyle.EmptyCircle.Draw(context, CreateArgs(args, Color.Yellow));
    else
    PointStyle.SolidCircle.Draw(context, CreateArgs(args, Color.Green));
    ??public void updateRange (double rHigh, double rLow)
    rangeHigh = rHigh;
    rangeLow = rLow;

    I'm not sure what you mean by ".NET does not recognize it." Did your code not compile at all? If so, which part did the compiler complain about? When you tried to call the method, what was the type of the reference that you were calling the method on? Could you please also post the code that uses this class and that demonstrates the error?
    Without having seen the code, though, my first guess would be that you were trying to call the method on a PointStyle reference, but the method doesn't live on PointStyle, so that was generating an error. If this is the case, you would need to hold on to a reference to the DynamicPointStyle class and call the method via this reference. For example:
    class TestForm : Form
    private DynamicPointStyle dynamic
    Style;
    protected override void OnLoad(EventArgs e)
    // Keep a reference to the dynamic style so you can access the method
    // later.
    dynamicStyle = new DynamicPointStyle();
    plot1.PointStyle = dynamicStyle;
    private void UpdatePointStyleRange(double low, double high)
    // To update the range, call the method via the DynamicPointStyle
    // reference instead of trying to call if via a PointStyle reference.
    dynamicStyle.UpdateRange(low, high);

  • CS6 Photoshop Problem? Grey/Black Halo around feathered transparency??

    Is anyone aware of a gray/black halo around feathered transparency objects. The halo occurs where the solid area of pic feathers to the transparent.
    NOTE: Image looks fine in Photoshop(CS6) but when placed in Indesign (CS5) a black halo appears on page
    This only happens when image is an RGB Tiff and layer mask is used to create transparency. If image is saved as .psd then it is fine. Also when RGB tiff is converted to CMYK then this is also ok.
    I kook forward to anyone's suggestions.
    Ideally I could just start using psd format, but I have to handle alot of images that are already in RGB tiff and it is time consuming to have to open and re-save all of these.
    Adobe Guys, what have you done!! Photoshop CS5 RGB tiffs are still working fine. Please help me!!??
    I look forward to a fix for this
    Thanks.
    Colorjam.
    (Pre-Press Production  Digital Image Operator)

    Please see below for the visual explanation.
    Please note the black halo on second image on top row.
    If feathered edge is increased on mask, then so does the halo.
    Halo will print as seen when job is sent to final PDF.
    Thanks for your help Noel.

  • How do I get rid of jagged, pixelated halo around type in Dreamweaver?

    Dear Dreamweaver Forum,
    I am studying the essential series of video tutorials on Dreamweaver CS3 via Lynda.com.
    I am also currently, slowly but surely, putting together a website to function as a resume, cover letter and portfolio all in one.
    I am currently in the middle of creating headings and images that will function as rollover buttons.
    I currently have a problem with a jagged or pixilated halo appearing around type I'm creating in Illustrator CS3 and placing into Dreamweaver CS3.
    The process I’m using so far is the following:
    In Dreamweaver CS3, I’m using div tags. I will place a div tag on a page. I will then move it to the desired location on the page and size it to my needs.
    I then take .gif file of type I created in Illustrator CS3 and drag it from the files panel and to the web page I’m working on. When I do this, I notice a halo around the type (please see inserted image below).
    How do I get rid of this jagged or pixilated halo?
    I created the type in Illustrator CS3 and then go File > Save for Web and Devices. In the 4-up dialog box that appears, I then save the type as a .gif file.
    Please see images below:
    Thanks for your help!

    How do I get rid of this jagged or pixilated halo?
    Don't use transparency! GIF and 8bit PNG only allow one transparent color, resulting in frizzled edges with antialiased content. If you know the type goes on a black background, save it with a black background....

  • How do I add a space to the toolbar in Firefox 29.0? I can grab a space from empty areas and move it around, but where do I find a "space" icon to ADD a space?

    It has been useful in past versions of Firefox to be able to add (a) space(s) between icons on the toolbar in order to create groups of icons and/or separate icons by class or function. In Firefox 29.0, I discovered how to "grab" (click and drag) a space from open areas on the toolbar and move it to another part of the toolbar. But how can I add spaces to the toolbar? In past versions, there used to be a space icon in the customize menu set that could be dragged to the toolbar for that purpose.

    You can get around this problem by installing the "Classic Theme Restorer Add-on" available at: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-to-make-new-firefox-look-like-old-firefox
    While returning the squared-off look to your tabs, instead of the newer, rounded version - it also gives returns the option to add spaces; variable size spaces, and separators to your tool-bars.

  • How to add a Border around an ImageView

    Hi all,
    I'm adding a row of photos in my application which are being resized to fit into some constrained space with Preserve Ratio true. They are put in a TilePane, with a Label below each photo.
    Basically, I give all my ImageViews a fitHeight of 120 pixels, and let them determine how wide they will become themselves in order to preserve the ratio.
    It looks great.
    However, I would like to add a Border around these images, as they sometimes fade too much into the background to clearly see the edges. ImageViews themselves donot support borders, so I'm forced to wrap these ImageViews inside another container.... but, no matter what container I use, the container itself refuses to resize itself to fit exactly around the image -- it seems to be completely oblivious of the real size of the Image -- with some parameters the ImageView will simply render itself outside the edges of its container, and with other parameters the container is wider than the ImageView leaving a gap on the right side.
    This is yet another instance where I want my ImageViews to resize themselves to fit the available space, resulting in a huge struggle to force these components into their proper straight-jacket. Anyone got any solutions for this?

    I'm afraid that also won't work, as the Image needs to be scaled, and the dimensions you are using are from the unscaled image.
    I've however am now using this class to get what I want, together with a stylesheet to specify the border it works and I get nice borders.

  • How do I Add a Picture Frame Around a Flash Video?

    I tried searching for this but "frame" has too many meanings. I have flv videos inserted in several web pages, but they look dull without some sort of fancy border or frame around them. Maybe a picture frame. Maybe the image of a flat screen TV surrounding the image. But how do I add the image "behind" the video so that the video sits perfectly inside the image, regardless of the monitor viewing the image.

    Do a google search for the IE PNG Fix javascript.  Some work better than others.  The one you had didn't work at all for PNG backgrounds in pre-IE7.
    Copy and Paste the following document into a new blank page and see how it looks in all the major browsers.  I changed your document type to XHTML transitional and replaced deprecated <div align> tags with inline CSS styles.  I also ran your Flash code through http://validifyer.com to make it XHTML compliant.

  • How to create image slice with transparent background without white halo around?

    Hi, I want to make slice image with transparent background. I set the slice option background color to my background color. But when the image is on my html page set against the same background color, it has white halo around:
    How can I get rid of the white halo?
    I need the slice image to have transparent background and not have a color background because it's going on a rollover button with the background change. I don't want it to look like this on rollover:

    >it looks to me like you built it with that "halo" to start with.
    No, I didn't put in the halo myself. The shape is a character from the Webdings font. It's set to some darker fill color and set on a transparent background. Photoshop put the white halo there after "Save For Web".
    > Make your graphic on a transparent background and Save for Web
    I did exactly that, see:
    I set the slice background to my color. I try the Matte option and come out the same with white halo.
    It seems I'm not making Photoshop antialias to my background color, instead Photoshop just antialias to white.
    What else do I need to do?

  • RED HALO ON FINDER ICON - How to remove red halo around finder icon?

    For what ever reason the finder icon in the dock has a red halo, like a red shine around it.
    How can I remove this?
    Thanks

    Thanks a lot Badunit.

    Go to this place and see if it looks the same there:
    /System/Library/CoreServices/Dock.app
    When you get to Dock.App, right click and "show package contents". Then navigate the rest of the way to
    /Contents/Resources/finder.png
    Double click on finder.png.  Does it look like what's in the dock, with the pink halo around it?
    The finder.png has the original look.
    The only two things I downloaded so far are:
    - the app 'caffeine' and
    - the QuickTime component 'perian' version 1.2.3 (perian.org)
    And system wise the only difference to the week before is that I now do regular backups with Timemachine (original software defivered with the mac).
    Funny enough if I drag and drop the finder app into the dock the new icon has the correct color. It is just the original finder (the un-removable one) that has the pink halo.
    Nevertheless,the pink halo icon it is functioning fine. But I still would like to have it the original way.
    Thanks for your support.
