How do I add a music file to the playlist I made in iTunes for my iPhone4?

Apple Tech suggested I make a Playlist for tunes I wanted to play on my iPhone 4, syncing the list to the iPhone 4. But I cannot figure out how to add tunes to this list I made once. I try to drag and drop from my iTunes library, directly on top of this Playlist, but itunes refuses to copy the file to the list. Apple told me not to add music files by manually dropping them on the iPhone4 in iTunes. They specifically said to not do this any longer. So I tried to drop them on the Playlist, but no joy.
Once I have made a Playlist for the iPhone 4, and synced to the list, how does one ADD any songs to this Playlist?

Nevermind. In the iTunes Area I can drag and drop tunes onto the iTunes playlist I made, but NO I can't drag and drop to a synced list in the iPhone area of iTunes. Reason is that it only represents the list I sync to in iTunes.
I did download a Doug Script where I can add files from one play list to another which is neat. Donated some cash for it.

  • My itunes stops working when i try to add a music file to the library. how do i fix this?

    when I open iTunes and try to add a music file to my library from my computer, I slecet the song and click open and then it just comes up with the error message saying that iTunes has stopped woking and closes the program... ive tried everything- uninstalling and reinstalling the program and even disabling my antivirus software. I have no other ideas about how to fix this?

    If you are still having this problem, the fix below takes care of it.  It was posted in another conversation by Sony Singh. I did it, rebooted, and all works!!
    Copy QTMovieWin.dll from:  C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    to: C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
    Hope this helps or you've already done the fix, especially since you posted in October.

  • How do I add shared music files to my library?

    Hi I have music sharing on and I can play all of the songs on this PC that are shared from my laptop, but is there a way to copy and add all of the actual music files onto my PC? Or can I just stream them with home sharing and need to use an external drive or some other way to get the actual files on this PC.
    Using up to date iTunes 12 on both PC and laptop.

    Hi ajoddo20,
    Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
    You can use Home Sharing to import music and other media from one computer to another. Please use the instructions and information located in the attached article for information on how to complete the process.

  • File Library Organize Library Reorganize files  Now can't locate music.  How do I get my music back in the playlists.  Still all in folders in music file??  HELP!

    I recently downloaded iTunes 10, found my library and things looked great..........UNTIL.....I clicked on the reorganize files box in the 'Organize Library' window.  Now all my music has a little ! next to it and says it cannot locate the song.  I have all the music still in the folders but iTunes not being able to locate it.  How do I get everything back the way it was??

    if I set up another library, will that affect my ipod?
    You will be given the chance to sync that iPod when it is connected if the iPod is set to sync automatically; if you choose that option, the music will be erased from the iPod. If not, you can transfer purchased content from the iPod and add additional music to it. Click here for more information.
    If I set up another library, do I go to that one when using my ipod.
    Yes.

  • How do i Add An Audiobook file to the Audiobook Library Folder????

    I have an audiobook I've downloaded and want to put it in the folder under Library called Audiobooks so they are all together. How do I do this??? The Audiobook is currently in my music folder. Both the audiobooks and music folders are under the Library folder. I can't seem to move this file into the audiobook folder from the music folder. How is this done?????

    You didn't indicate the source of your audiobook, so I'll try to cover both bases.
    First base: If you bought your audiobook from Audible.com and have authorized your computer correctly, the audiobook should go into the built-in Audiobooks folder automagically after you've imported it. This is how I purchase audiobooks – I buy them from Audible, download them directly from Audible's site, then import them into iTunes. Audible spoken word files end with .aa .
    Second base: If you did not get your audiobook from the iTunes Store or Audible, it appears you're out of luck. The Audiobooks folder in the Source Pane is for audiobooks from Audible or the iTunes Store only:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304706
    However, you can make your own smart playlist for your audiobooks. Use 'Get Info' (command-I), choose 'Info', and set the genre of your audiobooks to 'Audiobook' or 'Spoken Word' (or whatever suits you). Then, make a smart playlist to catch them and ignore the default Audiobooks folder from then on.
    When you sync your iPod, that playlist will show up under Music/Playlists, not on the iPod's Main Menu. You can then change the settings on your iPod to not show the prefab Audiobooks folder on the Main Menu.
    It's not an elegant solution, but you'll have all your audiobooks together.

  • How can I add my own files to the TV Shows Library instead of the Movie Library?

    I have my own TV Shows in m4v format.  I can drag and drop the TV Shows into the iTunes Movie Library.  How can I add my files to the TV Shows Library?  Can I group them by show in the TV Shows Library?

    Select the files in iTunes.
    Right click - get info.
    Select the Options tab and set Media kind to TV Show.
    Better yet, use something like MetaZ to tag the files before adding them to iTunes.

  • How do I add a jar file into the build path of the compiler?

    Hey,
    I'm trying to import a jar file into the build path of the compilation process, but it does not find the packages or the classes that are in it.
    I think I don't add it right...
              ArrayList<String> options=new ArrayList<String>();
              options.add("-d");
              options.add(targetDirectory);
              options.add("-classpath");
              for(String str:includeDirectory)
                   options.add(str);
              if (!compiler.getTask(writer, fileManager, diagnostics, options, classes, compilationUnits).call());
                    ....and I've tried this way:
         public void setTargetDirectory(String targetDirectory) {
              this.targetDirectory = "-d " + targetDirectory;
         private void compile(Iterable<? extends JavaFileObject> compilationUnits) throws Exception {
              ArrayList<String> options = new ArrayList<String>();
              options.add(targetDirectory);
              String classPath="-cp ";// tried this also with "-classpath"
              for (String str : includeDirectory)
                   classPath+=str+":";
              options.add(classPath);
         if (!compiler.getTask(writer, fileManager, diagnostics, options, classes, compilationUnits).call())
              // throw new Exception("Compilation Error");
         }Thanks in advance,
    Adam.

    Thank you for your reply,
    Q: Are there .class files in that directory in that jar file? (the compiler doesn't ( can't )) look for directories, it can just look for specific files , and scan to get a list of all files matching certain criteria. So if there are no class files, it will say the package doesn't exist, even if there is a directory, possibly containing other files.yes there are class files in the jar, the tree structure:
    j2MeDataChunkGenerator_Plugin\(lots of class files)
    META-INF\manifest.mf
    and thats it.
    , your code will only work on windows because other platforms use a different path separator. You should use java.io.File.pathSeparator not explicit ';" when building your classpath. (this is unrelated to your problem, but you should correct it)will do, thanks.
    Q: Is that error in your post formatted by your own diagnostics? (we could possibly help you better if we didn't have to guess!!)I would not post my own error code, this text is generated by the compiler diagnostic.
    {code}
         System.err.println(" Error details: " + diagnostic.getMessage(null));
    {code}
    Q: Is line 3 of ImageCroper_Editor.java (sic) an import statement? (we could possibly help you better if we didn't have to guess!!)it is an import error... didn't the error message stated that it is an import problem? wired, I'm sure before it did. anyway it is an import error.
    Also you don't show us what the variable includeDirectory is in terms of type, and contents, that might be helpful. (we could possibly help you better if we didn't have to guess!!)It has only one String object: "D:\%Important Documents\WorkSpaces\PacMan\ApplicationManager\Plug-in\Data Chunk Designer.jar"
    the last file on the classpath list.
    Q: Have you proven this? that i did post, in this long line of text.
    Q: Is the compiler finding other classes (in other packages) in that same jar file?No. all the class files are in the jar, they all have entries that start with "j2MeDataChunkGenerator_Plugin\*.class", and since I get 47 errors I guess it does not load any other class.
    thank you for you comments, the problem with having these errors, is that I can't even get a piece of information where this error is coming from, only that it is an import loading error package not found, what does that mean? that the jar was not loaded in compilation(no error about this), that the jar is corrupted(no error about this), that the path is incorrect(it is correct I made sure), that there is no such package in the jar(There is), that the compiler does not load the package(does it even do that?), really I can't even guess why this happens, I've been at this on and of all day today, really annoying.
    Thanks,
    Adam.

  • Organizing files within the Playlists

    I have an external hard drive containing music files organized within folders and sub-folders. I then create a new, empty iTunes Library on that same hard drive. In the Advanced panel of iTunes Preferences, the checkbox for "Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library" is NOT checked.
    Is there an easy way to add all of those music files to the Playlists window such that the Playlists window is organized in the same manner as the music files on the hard drive? In other words, the Playlists window contains folders and sub-folders that replicate how the actual music files are organized within the Finder.

    Nevermind I figured it out. For those who don't know and +would like to see this question answered+:
    Select the file or file set folder. Select 'get info'. Select 'options'. Change file type to audiobook. It also seems helpful to select 'remember position' and 'skip when shuffling'.

  • How do I move a music file in iTunes on my PC onto my iPad to add to an iMovie project?

    How do I move a music file in iTunes on my PC onto my iPad to add to an iMovie project?

    CBellC-
    I do not have iMovie, so I can't try this!
    Run iTunes with your iPad connected to the computer, either by the USB cable or by WiFi.  Select the iPad under DEVICES in iTunes.  Click on Apps at the top of the window and scroll down to File Sharing.  If iMovie appears there, select it.  The Documents window to the right is where you transfer files to (Add) and from (Save To) the iPad.

  • How do I transfer a music file from my MacBook Pro to my iPhone?

    How do I transfer a music file from my MacBook Pro to my iPhone?

    If you download Adode Reader (free but very limited) or GoodReader (many features) - you can use file sharing.
    Connect the iPad to the Mac and launch iTunes. Select the iPad on the left side under Devices. Click on the Apps tab in the iTunes window on the right. Scroll down to the File sharing apps window. Click on the file sharing app that you are using (Adobe Reader or GoodReader in this example). Drag the document from the desktop onto the file sharing window on the right side - or click on the add button in the lower right corner - and navigate to where the file is on the Mac and select it that way.

  • How do I import music files from a flash drive to my iTunes library on my laptop

    How can I import music files from a flash drive to my iTunes library? I put the flash drive into my laptop, selected " add file to library", selected the songs I wanted from the flash drive, and it looked like they were added as the names show under " recently added". Then I removed the flash drive from my laptop But when I select one of the songs and try to play it a message saying "the song could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?"  So it seems the actual files did not transfer. What do I do? I have done this. With a cd in the past with nsomproble,.

    Thank you!! This worked. It does seem there should be an easier way but this did work.
    Dragging the files to "Automatically Add..." is pretty easy once you know where to look.  Just make sure iTunes is running when you do it; otherwise the files will just sit there until the next time you open iTunes.
    (Interestingly, the way you originally tried to do would have worked fine except for one little detail:  you have to first go into Edit > Preferences > Advanced, and check the box for "Copy files..."  If that is not done, iTunes will reference the files on the flash drive, which of course are not accessible once the drive is removed, as you saw.)
    Anyway, glad that all is now sorted.  Enjoy the music!
