How do I add a recycle/wastebin to fat32 drive ? [Solved]

I have added an extra hardrive to my pc (pata) that I use to keep all my music on. I formatted the drive using gparted, and it is fat32 to allow it to be swapped to other machines.
I mount the drive with this line in fstab
/dev/sdb1 /home/tim/Music vfat user,rw,umask=111,dmask=000 0 0
All works fine except I don't have a recycle/wastebin feature and files can only be hard deleted.
I have wastebin feature on other fat32 drives, like usbpens.
What can I do ?
Many thanks
Tim

The files I'm trying to delete are mostly under 10mb, last one I tried was an empty file ! (I'm also not using windows )
Could it be anything to do with me mounting the drive at /home/tim/Music rather than at say /media/Music or /mnt/sdb1 ?
btw the drive does not contain a .trash-0 (used show hidden files) folder, I will create one and see if things change.
EDIT
No change

  • How can I add media from an external hard drive into Premiere Elements? Please answer.

Alright, so I have looked all over the website and the way adobe's frequently asked questions about adding media did nothing for me. I am editing a large full length video in premiere elements 13 and so I would like to add media from my external hard drive and edit from that location. Is that possible? Because I do not have enough space on my laptop to keep hundreds and hundreds of GB of videos on my internal hard drive. I have looked on how to add media from the hard drive location and adobe says to add it using the files and folders tab, but when I select it to add it, it says I need to use the Video Importer. So I go to use the video importer and have no way of figuring out how to select my hard drive. Any ideas?

Thank you for the follow up with the information
it is a MacBook pro retina . OS X Operating system. External hard drive is connected by the USB cable. fat32.
It is my understanding, whether you have Premiere Elements on Windows or Mac, if you have files on an external hard drive,  you do not select
Add Media and head for a choice that includes Video Importer. Instead, you select Add Media/Files and Folders and navigate to the external hard drive to select your file(s) for import into the project.
But, you seem to be saying that when you do you are met with a message to use the Video Importer. Does the message give you any other related information on why you are being detoured to Video Importer since Video Importer does not import from an external hard drive for me or you. It does for me using Add Media to get the files from my external hard drive into a project.  I am strictly an Elements Windows user, so my Mac information is from what I have read. Based on that...
    1. Please evaluate the format of your external hard drive. Please review the following if you have not considered this point before.
    http://www.cnet.com/how-to/how-to-set-up-an-external-hard-drive-for-use-with-os-x/
There are many online articles on this matter which would point you away from Fat32 as the format for a external hard drive Mac.
    2. From what you wrote, you are not dealing with a DVD drive so I see no way to implicate one of them in this issue. You are dealing with an
USB external hard drive and not a USB external DVD/CD drive. Correct?
    Please review and consider.
We will be watch for further news from you.
    Thank you.

  • How do I add MPEG clips, on my hard drive, to my iMovie library?

I have downloaded clips directly from my camcorder to my hard drive- MPEG format.  I want to work with them in iMovie, but when I go to add them to my iMovie library they are greyed-out and not available.  What am I doing wrong?

If you want to go the complete free route, convert the video to MOVs from MT2 files.  Then you can drag and drop them on to your iPad with Pic Share It.  The movies will then appear in your camera roll on your iPad which you can add them to your iMovie project.

  • How can i add bookmarks from my old hard drive to new hard drive on the same computer without overwriting the new bookmarks on my new hardrive? Cheers

The old hard drive was operating on Xp and new hard drive is Windows 7, if this makes any difference.

Unfortunately there is no simple method and, the workaround is far from perfect. The .json files Firefox uses overwite the existing bookmarks but the .html option appends and does not overwrite.
First of all backup all bookmarks on each hard drive. The best method of doing that is to backup the Firefox profiles, that captures the bookmarks databases (''places.sqlite'') and the autobackups that Firefox holds.
    * [[Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles]]
    * [[Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer]]
#First ensure you have the largest databsae on the current install of Firefox. If necessary
##Locate the Firefox Profile on the old drive
##* [[Profiles - Where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data]]
##Open Firefox and find the profile that is currently in use.
##*Quick method <br/>Use FirefoxButton -> Help -> Troubleshooting Information [Open Folder] <br />(No certain of exact wordings, OR navigate to ''about:support'' )
##* [[Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles]]
#Now use HTML backups to transfer from the smaller database the basic bookmarks.
    ## Close Firefox & if the old database is the largest one use the Operating System copy option to overwrite the existing places.sqlite so that Firefox now uses the old database
    ## Reopen Firefox but this time open using the old profile. The easiest method of that may be to disable the new drive from the Bios or alternatively use Firefox profile manager and register the old profile location and open firefox with that profile
##* [[Use the Profile Manager to create and remove Firefox profiles]]
    ## Export the bookmarks from the old profile using the Firefox Library and the HTML option.
##* see [[Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file to back up or transfer bookmarks]]
    ## Close Firefox, reopen new version/newprofile and import the HTML.
You now have the largest database of complete bookmarks with tags etc. , plus additional bookmarks from the smaller database added on. Obviously you may have some duplication

  • How do I add a picture from my hard drive to a contact in OSX 10

Seriously, a friend sends me a photo over iMessage, clicking on the photo doesn't give me any viable options to save the photo, so then I copy it and paste it to the desktop (because nobody does that any more and it's not worth a shortcut...)
Then I go to edit my friends contact picture in the contacts app, and the options I get for picking a photo are:
    Defaults
    My Photo Stream
Faces (you need to ID faces in iPhoto)
    Camera
    Linked
They are soooooo leaving behind traditional stuff in their new OS.

  • How to fix Grub after moving arch to new drive [SOLVED]

I moved my Arch install (/ and /home partitions) to a new drive and I was wondering how to fix Grub so that it knows /boot is on the new drive.  What I've done thus far is
create partitions on the new drive and dd my current / and /home partitions to them.  The new partitions are bigger than the current ones, so I also re-sized the filesystems to fill the new partitions.  My disk/partition setup is the following
    /dev/sda1        2048 488392703 488390656 232.9G  7 HPFS/NTFS/exFAT   (Storage)
    /dev/sdb1  *         2048    206847    204800  100M  7 HPFS/NTFS/exFAT   (System reserved)
    /dev/sdb2          206848 102402047 102195200 48.7G  7 HPFS/NTFS/exFAT   (Windows 7)
    /dev/sdb3  *    102402048 141472127  39070080 18.6G 83 Linux   (Current Arch /)
    /dev/sdb4       141472128 250069679 108597552 51.8G 83 Linux   (Current Arch /home)
    /dev/sdc2  *       206848 105064447 104857600   50G 83 Linux   (New Arch /)
    /dev/sdc3       105064448 234441647 129377200 61.7G 83 Linux   (New Arch /home)
After I resized the filesystems, I then created a new grub.cfg file (on /dev/sdb3) that is aware of the new Arch system.  I can boot to both my current and new Arch installs and run them fine, but ultimately I want to remove the current Arch install so I can make more room for my Windows 7 install.  What do I need to do to grub, so it knows to use the new Arch system.

@Xyne - Thanks!  Installing grub on my /dev/sdc did the trick.  Because I dd'ed my old setup to a new drive, /boot/grub was already populated, so all I had to do was install and configure grub on the new drive via the following.
    grub-install --target=i386-pc --recheck --debug /dev/sdx
    grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
I used os-prober to find the other OS's (Windows 7 and my old Arch).  After some testing, I will wipe my old Arch setup and then resize Windows into the free space.

  • How can I add new languages on my phone?

I have an Nokia N80 and i don`t have the French language...How can I add this language on my phone?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You can't do it yourself, you have to take the phone to a Nokia Care Point.
Note that the absence of a language in the phone is not a fault in the phone if it was originally intended to be sold in an area where French is not spoken, so there may be a charge for installing this language pack.
Also note that language packs installed independently of the firmware do not survive a reset or a firmware update. Therefore, if you do reset your phone or update its firmware, you will loose the language pack and have to have it reinstalled.

  • How do you add more memory to a macbook circa 2007

how do you add memory to a macbook mid-2007?

    >If you have a Mid 2007 MacBook, that can use up to 3GB RAM.
Since that model can use an odd number RAM capacity upgrade, with
a total of 3GB between two memory slot locations, you could put one
piece of RAM of 1-GB in a slot, and in the other, a 2-GB RAM chip...
Maximum Memory:    3.0 GB (Actual) 2.0 GB (Apple)
    Memory Slots:    2 - 200-pin PC2-5300 (667MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM

Recommendations have been to check the spec and model computer
against the on-site parts suggestions for the computer model identifier
at OWC macsales.com, or check into Crucial.com for specific match
based on their information. OWC tends to be an easier way if you know
the MacBook model identifier, and if yours actually is the Mid-2007 vs
another different one. The Late-2007 can use up to 6GB RAM.

  • How do you add music that doesnt show up in shuffle?????Help!!!!!!!!

Please Help...I need to find out how to add Christmas songs in its own folder or play list so I can listen to them during the holidays but I don't want them in my library because when I use the shuffle songs on my ipod it self I don't want Christmas music shuffling through...Does that make sense?
I would ONLY like to hear the Christmas songs in a playlist......I cant figure out how to do it, I unchecked them in the library (nope they still come up during shuffle) I deleted them in the library after putting them in their own Christmas play list and after deleting the library song I checked and its gone in the Christmas playlist folder also (by the way how do I get it back?...it says its in recycle?)
    HELP>>>HELP
If there's no way of doing this it's a serious programming problem.....it shouldn't be this hard

    Hi
How to automatically add your Christmas songs/albums to a playlist:
You first need to edit the genre of all Christmas songs in your library so that it contains either 'Christmas' or 'Holiday' (or something else)
Then create a new Smart Playlist:
In iTunes: File > New Smart Playlist
Enter the following rule: Genre - Contains - Holiday
    -Match only checked items
    -Live updating
    explainable image: http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/4430/smartplaylistih4.jpg
Note: you can add more rules if you want by clicking on the + button.
    Experiment away!
