How do I add a search engine of my own choice (i.e one which is not available among the "Manage Search Engines" add-ons) to the Search Engine Box dropdown?

You may note there are some changes coming up with Firefox's searches. In Fx23 whatever you set in the search bar is also used for other searches, so you may get unexpected videos showing up from the address bar.
Further in the future, probably Fx25 the navigation and search bar are being combined. Then there is talk of a new concept of search tabs.
Computer technology always changes. Moore's law gives ever more computing power but someone always finds a new feature or facility that becomes a must have essential and eats up all the power.

It's a really bad idea to post your email address - it's an invitation to spam - and I've asked the Hosts to remove it.
You should be able to change your ID at http://appleid.apple.com - click on 'Manage your Account', then in the first pane which opens you will see your Apple ID with an 'Edit' link to the right of it. Click that and you should be able to change the ID to your email address. Then you can sign in with it in System Preferences>iCloud to open an iCloud account and create a new @icloud.com address.
If you are not inextricably wedded to using your existing ID you can skip this step: just follow the method described by IMP68 here:

this will enable you to create an ID which is also the @Icloud.com address which you choose. (You can still sign into iTunes with the old ID if you want to - there is no connection between the two.) -

why are most of the apps (anything that has to search) on my iphone4 and ipad (1) running very slow (or not at all) since iOS5 update...esp google. Search seems to go quickly, but then when I try to open a link..nothing. I have turned off icloud.
I am having the same problem. Did turning off iCloud work? Did you just turn everything off or did you actually delete the account off your iPod?

Can someone please explain how this now works? And am I obligated to load Mountain Lion. It's a very expensive price to pay for online privacy that isn't even Private anymore. I am old enough that I don't have to pay ransome. I can just quit.
I didn't say and was never asked If I wanted Mountain Lion. I can no longer 'Empty Cache' at the end of a session online and when I do a search now (and this has all changed overnight) the query is typed into what used to be the address bar and when the search results appear, after reading the first result and I want to read the second or fifth or Any of the other results of the query I am forced to resubmit the search in the address bar because the 'Page Back' button has been removed and the Little Red Dot closes the Search Results Page altogether.
What else am I in for with Mountain Lion? I already know that I do NOT want anything to do with iCloud. I am willing to bet a lot of money that a pharmaceutical company one day is going to be holding me for ransome with a new drug that was created out of the symptoms of a once - upon - a - time naturally occuring symptom of aging. At least I can turn my Macbook off and leave it that way and the world will not cease to exist. (Or will it?)Computer operation 101.
Get a bootable, external HD (preferably FireWire, since it's 40-50% faster than USB 2 and designed for data transfers), make a bootable backup/clone before updating/upgrading, using something like Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper!, and ensure that it's bootable and works like the original. You can only purchase from the country in which you live. You cannot purchase from the Japan Store if you live in the U.S. and your iTunes account is a U.S. based account.

Adobe PDF Reader Publisher 'not available' in IE Manage Add-ons
Some users of a website that displays PDFs in the browser are not able to view the PDFs. These users are using IE9 and Adobe Reader XI on a Windows 7 machine. They have gone through uninstalling, reinstalling, and repairing Adobe Reader XI and have ensured that the IE settings match the IE settings for other users whose setups work correctly. The only difference is in the Manage Add-Ons. On machines that do work, the publisher for the Adobe PDF Reader add-on is listed as 'Adobe Systems, Incorporated'. On the machines that do not work, the publisher is shown as 'not available'. My gut feeling is that since the publisher is listed as 'not available', Microsoft doesn't trust the add-on and won't run the ActiveX control to display the PDFs in the browser.
How can I fix those systems so that the add-on shows as 'Adobe Systems, Incorporated' on the machines that do not work? Or how can I get them to work regardless of the publisher listed? Or is this even the issue of why these machines will not display PDFs in the browser?They do assure me that they are using the 32-bit version of IE. I think the add-on doesn't show at all in the 64-bit version.

4) Audio In jack (for VGA and DVI source)
5) DVI input

The Apple TV doesn't officially support a DVI connection, however you may be able to get it to work. You will first need to check that your TV supports either 720p or 1080p as well as HDCP. If you are able to get the video working over the DVI connection, you may also require a DAC in order to connect with Apple TV's optical audio output to the TVs audio imput.
You may well wish to make sure that the DVI connection works before spending any money on a DAC.. -
I Just received a receipt from the App Store. It was for opening one section of a game when I had already bought the full game. I went to the bottom to check on my purchases. It took me to the App Store for view history. I entered my Apple ID and then it switched me to ITune which doesn't work on my iPad! And yet it showed activity in ITunes. A few months ago I had a purchase show up that I didn't make. I contacted the developers because I love their new products so much and wanted to see if it might be a bug in their system because the confusion was within their games only. I would REALLY like to view my APP STORE history but it only lets me get to the part where you can open the apps that are showing. Is their a way to view my full APP history, with dates, money spent etc? I would love to know how to get there. Thank you, Diane Maya
