This is driving me nuts! I can pretty much do anything on FCE, but how do I add
an arrow to my video? I have no trouble with text, but where is the choice to
add an arrow??? or a circle???
very confusing.

Basic Stuff!! How can I add a simple frame?

Sorry for what's a pretty basic question... I'm used to version 4.0 of Photoshop Elements and I've used this for a while and one feature I used heavily was to add a simple white frame with a drop shadow to pictures I publish on the web. It is/was really simple, I have the photo open in the editor and simply double click the frame and it automatically adds it to fit around the outside of the phot regardless of size etc.
I now have Elements 7, and I just cannot find any way to do this at all. I've searched for tutorials, and the only frame function I've found seems to want to use a fixed frame size that hides some of the picture.
It's becoming quite infuriating, what was once a simple task in PSE 4 has gotten me completely beaten in PSE 7...
Can someone please help me, it's driving me round the bend!!!

Thanks for your help, I can see the frames there, but they seem to work in a completely different way to PSE 4.
If I double click a frame, or select and click apply then they're all cropping the photo to fit the frame which is the opposite behaviour to PSE 4 which fitted the frame around whatever the phot was... Then all it seems I can do is make the pic bigger or smaller, but if it's not the same aspect ratio as the frame then I get blank bits.
And I can't figure out how to get the drop frame look I got before... for an example see here:

How can I add a simple URL to Streamwork?

I want to add a simple URL to a StreamWork activity. I do not care whether this is in a text or a collection etc. All I would like to see is that the URL is displayed as such (i.e. blue, underlined) and a user can navigate to the URL with a simple cklick. Even in WORD you can do this and the URL is converted to an active link automatically, but I didn't find a way to do this in Streamwork.
So far, I add the URL into a text and then the user has to edit the text, mark the URL and then copy/paste it into a browser. In a lot of cases, the URL was deleted by accident or changed etc.

Maybe there is a misunderstanding here -- Rob is probably thinking of the Status Updates.
However, when you edit a Text item you will find a Hyperlink option in the tool bar at the top of the Item. So this is possible, Oliver, but you may not have seen this option.

How do I add a simple, 1D, uneditable bar code to a PDF?

I would like to add a simple 1D bar code to an existing PDF form. The bar code is used to identify me as the issuer of the PDF form and would not be edited by anyone else. If it is not possible to do in Adobe X Pro, is there a third-party software that would do the trick? Thanks.

Create a Form Field
When finish get out of Forms editing.
Place the Bar code in the field.
now go back to Forms Editing (From Tool bar)
Click on Field and hold down Control Key
Choose Make Read only or Read only.
Now see if you can password Protect the field Or Document and allow everything to be filled out except this field.
* Well I just tried to Password protect and individual cell but evidently I can't. Might be something I am not doing

How to add a simple drop shadow to video clip

Ok, so perhaps I'm just looking in all the wrong places, or perhaps it was an oversight in the initial release of FCP X....but for the life of me, I cannot find where to add a simple drop shadow (in this case, for actual video footage. I haven't looked into shadows for text). I have keyed footage (BTW, bravo Apple on the chromakeyer in FCP X) that I need to add a drop shadow to in order for it to blend nicer with the background footage. Is this feature missing? Or am I simply not looking in the right place?

[SOLVED] How Can I Add a Simple Volume Indicator to Panel?

I've managed to get an XFCE de up and running and sound is working as well as keyboard shortcuts. I don't get any splash message to tell me the volume levels, neither do I have any indicator in the panel. How do I get any feedback on my current sound level without having to start the mixer?
I've had a look around and I think I have mixer plugins installed, yet I don't have a suitable items to add in the "Add New Items" dialog.
Xubuntu has and indicator, that would be good enough for me but I don't know how.
I'd appreciate any help

I had Mixer installed and when you told me it was the right app I played around with it some more and realised that I had to select the right sound card for the applet to show the volume. When I first added it the only functionality seemed to be that it opened mixer when I clicked on it.
I tried volwheel as well, both work great. I guess it's personal preference from here.

In a normal situation, give the divisions a class and use the class name for your style sheet.

How do I add this effect to a rotated video [pic]

There are some advantages to using two different background images as shooternz pointed out.
Some footage would benefit by not scaling it up and just reversing it on each side, just for one example.
To do that you could put one clip on track one. Then flip it using the Horizontal Flip effect and blur it up. Take that and using the position parameters of the Motion effect, slide it over to the left so that it will just barely be slightly covered by the top clip in the middle.
On track two, flip another copy, blur it, and scoot it off to the right.
On track three, put on the original.
Having said that, now I feel compelled to actually do it. I just shot a picture of some flowers with my cell phone for this purpose. Note that one side has more blooms than the other. So in the image below, you just catch a hint of the larger blooms next to the larger blooms and the smaller next to the smaller, and you should be able to tell, if you look closely that they are reversed.
Now, of course, deciding if you want to do this depends entirely on the footage.

Set your Graphics App as an external editor in iPhoto

There are many, many other options. Search on MacUpdate. You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.

If you use File > Place Embedded, you'll be able to resize and place (move, rotate, etc.) images as appropriate in your open document with the added bonus of having them added as Smart Objects. (Note that using Smart Objects can greatly increase the file size of your document. Just be aware.)
File > Place Embedded > resize and place (hold down Shift to constrain proportion as you resize) > confirm by clicking the checkmark or "commit" icon.
For layers that already exist, right-click the layer in the Layers panel > Convert to Smart Object.
