How do I add a transition between every clip in Premiere Elements 11?

Greetings -
Folks, I'm looking for a feature that even the cheesy old Windows Movie Maker used to have. I'm trying to figure out how to get Premiere Elements 11 to add a transition between every clip via some shortcut/quick means. I find it obnoxious and inefficient that I need to manually drag a transition between every clip. If I import 200 short clips that I took with my point and shoot camera, it'll take me over an hour alone just to put the transitions in place.
Is there any way to select a transition and have Premiere Elements add it between every clip? I've stumbled on the fact that you can click a transition and make it the "Default" but have not been able to figure out what that does for me.
Any help is appreciated.

I think trying Edit > Preferences > General > Video Default Transition Duration will fix it. Mine came with 30 frames set at installation.

I finally figured out that you can not copy a transition between multiple clips at the same time and it will copy one at a time.
What seems strange, however, because in Pinnacle, which I used until recently, this could be done, and Adobe is not less than Pinnacle.
Maybe Adobe does not consider interesting this thing, or maybe it is inserted in Premiere Pro. How, for example, in the titles, the ability to animate multiple lines. In Premiere Elements missing but I knew that in the Pro's.

Detach audio, then create audio only scenario, then add transition ? Unusable.
When importing 8 tracks from Xdcam HD, how do you choose wich audio track to add your transition to ?
Also, impossible to re-export to Xdcam disk on the field.
This piece of software is simply unusable in real life pro conditions. Some very nice features, globally a disaster.

I found these solutions myself but for me these are only workaround.
In Fcp7, you just had to drag and drop dissolve transition to clips junctions TO AUDIO TRACK ONLY. Very quick and simple. In Fcpx, it is very time consuming if you want to add audio crossfade to every clip junction in a full project. That's really not a software evolution in my opinion...
I think "easy transitions to audio tracks only" has to be implemented in next version.

Or is there a way to apply random transitions? Either way I'm too lazy to drag a transition between every clip and hope there's a bulk way I haven't found yet. I'm using iMovie HD 6.0.2 (267).

To apply the same transition between all clips, select all the clips, select the transition (and timing) then click ADD (at the bottom right of the transitions screen). The transitions will be rendered, one at a time between all the clips. If you wish to change the transition, again select the required clips, select the new transition, then click UPDATE.
I'm not aware of any way to apply random transitions.

OK, I understand what you mean now! I assumed you were asking about the normal Fade In or Fade Out using the transition from the Transitions panel. But I guess you mean the Fade function specific to a Cutaway. When you double-click on a Cutaway the Inspector opens. Here you can set the Cutaway Fade duration. But as you say, it only provides for both fade in and fade out as one operation - you can't set the fades individually (it's both or nothing).
BUT, try the method outlined by Karsten Schluter above. It will give you the same effect and will enable you to fade either side of the Cutaway (or add other transitions).

I solved the problem a couple days ago. The mistake I made was that I neglected to shut Firefox down before making the changes to persdict.dat. Once I did that, everything worked as I expected it to work after bringing Firefox up again. I guess that's the equivalent of what you suggested. Thanks for your response.

Ok.. I read the online help.. and I'm getting better.. but still more questions.
I want to put a transition between clip 1 and 2. There both 15 seconds.. I add a 5 second tranistion and both go to 10 seconds. I get that part.
Now I want to add a different transistion between clip 2 and 3. If its 5 seconds again.. this makes clip 2 also 5 seconds and clip three 10 seconds. I want to avoid this.
I want all my clips to be 15 seconds and all my transistions 5 seconds. Is there a batch command, or a similar shortcut.
Also.. when I pick to add a transition between clip 2 and 3 if I highlight clip 2 and three in the preview window it shows clip 1 and two.. not two and three. So.. my workaround has been to select them in reverse.. Highlight clip 3 and then 2 and then pick my transition.
After this.. I can just add my audio clips.. Still have to look into that... wheter to export to garageband, or first make my audio and import into imovie.

No, no: that "2.29 seconds" is NOT 2.29 seconds ..it's 2 seconds: and 29 frames. In NTSC (American) video there are 30 frames [well; 29.97] frames per second of video. [..In European PAL video there are only 25 frames per second..]
So 02:29 in the duration means 02 seconds: and-just-one-frame-short-of-one-more-second ..i.e; very nearly three whole seconds!

1 - Import all your photos ..they probably arrive with a default 05:00 secs timing (05 seconds:00 frames).
1a/2 - Decide on your duration for Ken Burns, and set it to apply to each photo as imported, or select all photos after importing and click on 'Media', 'Photos' and 'Show Photo Settings' and then choose the KB settings you want, and click on 'Update'
3 - Decide on your transition and its duration, e.g; 'Cross Dissolve' for 2:00 seconds (2 seconds + zero extra frames).
3a - If necessary, select all photos and go back to the KB settings, and increase the KB duration by an extra 2x the duration of the chosen transitions, to allow for the 2 secs which will be "eaten away" by transitions at both the tail of each photo and at the start of each next photo (..except the first and last photos). So for a 2-sec transition, add 4 secs to each photo except for the first and last; just add 2 secs (..the length of the intended transition..) to those two.
4 - With all the photos still selected, choose that transition you want, set its duration to 2:00 and click the 'Add' button.
All the selected photos will now have a 2-sec transition added between them all, thereby "eating up" 2 secs off the tail of each and 2 secs off the start of each - except for the first and last photos.
Each photo should also still have a duration of, say, 5 secs, or whatever you chose in 1/1a/2 (above) to include the KB effect you wanted, because you added the necessary extra "sacrificial" duration in 3a (above) to be "eaten away" and still leave the duration you wanted for each photo.
So all the photo timings, the KB effect, and applying the transitions, can be done to everything as a 'batch', by selecting all the pics, then applying whatever alteration you want to them.
{..NOTE: that adding or amending KB duration can't be done like that to stills which you have created from video footage by clicking on 'Edit' and 'Create Still Frame' ..this is only applicable to pics imported from your iPhoto libraray pane..]

I mean that clients can not walk around in our organization without having to connect to any access point separately.

which software version you have on WLC ?
Is the site survey done propely ?
Remember: It is the client that decides when to roam and which AP to connect to based on what it perceives the signal to be.
If your site survey design is perfect and still have problems while roaming then:
Disable your lower data rates on the 2.4ghz and or 5ghz radio and your clients will roam better. Try to disable everything below 11mbps. and give that a try.May be old device will work in this case.

If you can please let us know exactly which of the Elements program you are using (either Premiere Elements, or Photoshop Elements, through the Elements Organizer), a MOD can Move your post to the appropriate forum, where you will get quick answers.
Also, additional music can be Imported into several of the Elements programs, but knowing exactly which you are using, will dictate the instructions.

How to add chapter markers to every clip in a timeline?

Is it possible to add chapter markers to every clip in a timeline without going 1 by 1? I have over 1,000 clips in the timeline and I need to add a chapter marker for every clip.

I'm not sure if this will help you or not. I've been using Compound clips, and I wanted chapter markers at the start of each compound clip, with the text in the marker set to the name of the compound clip.
I developed a keystroke workflow to do this, then used an application called "Keyboard Maestro" to record the keystrokes and reply them each time I press a hotkey. I had to add some timing delays, but once I did, it works great. All I have to do is press the hotkey, and it moves to the start of the next clip and adds the chapter marker. I even created another keystroke that does this 10 times in a row, so I only had to press it once for each 10 clips (because of timing issues, you can't just press the hotkey 10 times quickly).
If you're interested in more details, I can supply them, but I won't bother unless this sounds like something that might help you.

This indicates that you only have handles available on one side of the edit point. If the transition ends on the edit, that means that the next shop begins on the first frame of the media file and there is no room for it to extend and create the necessary overlap.

In PSE 10, go to Full Edit mode.
Open your image.
Open the Content panel.
In the first dropdown choose "By Event".
In the second dropdown choose Christmas.

Transitions between split clips don't work properly

If I split a clip in the project area, then put a transition between the two new clips, the transition doesn't work properly. It is most obvious with the Cross Dissolve, which doesn't work at all. Some of the others sort of look like they are working, but if you look closely, they are not working correctly- i.e. not in the same way that transitions between two clips dragged separately to the project area from the events area work.
Any one else notice this, or better yet, have a fix?

OK- I discovered a work-around.
In the project area if you select the split part following the transition, Cut it (Command x) then Paste it (Command v) back in the proper place, the transition works properly. Usually cutting and pasting the following half of a split clip fixes the transition, but sometimes I have to cut and paste both the part before the transition and the part after it to get things to work right.
