  • HT1414 How can I unlock passcode on iPod touch when iTunes account is on ipad

My daughter has brand new iPod, I set up passcode and immediately forgot it after setting it up.  I set it up without using a computer as my iTunes account is on my iPad, is there anyway to unlock it?

Connect the iPod to the computer and restore via iTunes. If necessary, place the iPod inRecovery Mode to allow the restore.
A forgotton password is one of the uses that still requires a computer w/iTunes.

The bottom section (iTunes part) gives instructions. The first few panels discuss backing up the old phone but then it gets into restoring to the new phone: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2109

how do you add a new computer to your iTunes account? I know it can only managae 4 computers. Presently I am doing well in this area. Thanks

You have to authorize the computer in iTunes. Launch iTunes and go to Store>Authorize this computer from the menu at the top of the screen. You will have to enter your Apple ID and password.

... however you can deauthorize older computers you no longer need to have authorized to your account to make way for a new one. If you have access to specific machines you can deauthorize individually inside iTunes, otherwise you can deauthorize all, then (re)authorize the machines you want.
See HT1420: iTunes Store: About authorization and deauthorization.

  • Can I use the same iTunes account for 2 iPads without having the same apps on both?

Can I use the same iTunes account for 2 iPads without having the same apps on both? Everytime I try to sync my new iPad, it syncs all the apps that are on my account. If I can do this, can someone tell me how please???

Yes you can, easily.  When you plug the first pad in to sync, note the name of the pad on the last pane.  Set up for that device whatever you want to sync.  When you are done, plug the second pad in.  Make sure it has a different name on the left pane.   Then sync to that pad whatever you want.  I tunes will remember what you did on each pad, and will start from there the next time you plug in.

  • HT1203 Can I share one iTunes account for my iPad and two I phones? If so, how can I get the purchased apps and music on all three devices? Do I need a home computer,

Can I share one iTunes account for my iPad and two I phones? If so, how can I get the purchased apps and music on all three devices? How do I sync all the devices to have the same music and apps?

You can set up an iCloud account on each one (the SAME iCloud account using the same AppleID on each) and then sync via iCloud.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5262\
However, an iCloud backup nor sync contains purchased content - that is available for redownload from the iTunes and App stores (so no need to waste iCloud space storing it for you).
So, for purchased content, you will have to download it on each device - just use the same AppleID and download each item on each device.
Without a computer to aid the sync'ing, downloading the purchased content on each device is the only way.
P.S  audiobooks cannot be re-downloaded once purchased (all other content can be), so without a computer to save, store and move the audiobook files around, you will only be able to put those on one device - the one you first purchase it on.

  • How do I place a 2nd iPod on my iTunes account so that....

...neither iPod loses its particular apps, games, music, etc when it synchs? Yes, I know this is supposed to be simple, simple, simple. But it wasn't, wasn't, wasn't EVER with the 2nd iPod's predecessor.
Brief history: I have an iPod. Yay. All very fine and well. Synched it with my computer and it worked and we lived happily ever after -- until my 10-year-old an iPod last Christmas and I tried to create an account for it on the same computer, using Apple's directions. Hah! Upshot: The two iPods then lived happily never after together and much cursing rained from my mouth when "Method Three" resulted in the erasure of my own iPod's library at iTunes.
I managed to restore that using my own iPod -- though my library was renamed "Previous iTunes Libraries" and I never have managed to successfully rename it. It remains "Previous iTunes Libraries."
Meanwhile, that awful burp was enough to get the second iPod working and thereafter we never could get the thing to synch without destroying my own iPod's library -- even though it was recognized as a second iPod and there was a second account and everything. Consequently, we stopped synching the stupid thing which was OK since the 10-year-old could charge it without connecting to the computer and he was using it mostly for games and a few songs which we downloaded wirelessly.
Then his iPod screen cracked -- apparently, it's not the best idea to let them slide between sofa cushions and then sit on them. Luckily, its one-year protection plan was still active and we just got a brand-new replacement. Stupidly, I tried to synch the thing again last night in an attempt to download the games and history that he had so it could go on the new iPod. Sigh. You know: Big mistake. My own iPod's library is now full of swiss-cheese holes and I've lost things that I'd taken off my iPod so I guess they can't be replaced. I decided to forget trying to save his iPod's history and we're starting over, from scratch, with the new iPod. He'll have to get apps, etc, and start over again with his games, etc. And I pray to God that we can set up the iTunes account so it actually works this time. Please! Help! Me! Do! This!
I've been told that Method Two (second iPod is just a different playlist) is best but what about apps? If both iPods have, say, Angry Birds, does Method Two save two separate sets of Angry Birds, each with its own history? I figure my lost songs/apps are gone forever as is everything that was on his iPod even though it was purchased with my user ID and all that. I figure this is a bad, bad dream but I am hoping you will help me wake up from it into a nice, shiny, smoothly working iPod world.
Thanks for your time and I appreciate all help! The new iPod is not going to be used at all until I'm somewhat confident/hopeful that I can pull off this allegedly simple and easy operation.

    9850,
you can do it by creating sub-folders within the folder that is selected to be synced.
e.g.  Folder "Photo" has been selected to be synced to your iPad.
Create two sub-folders e.g. "Family" and "Vacation" within "Photo" folder and put photos in both sub-folders instead of "Photo" folder.
Now sync your photos and in photo's tab, after you have selected "Photo" folder to be synced, make sure you select all Folders as example below:
Once completed you will find both folders "Family" and "Vacations" are in your iPad's album including Camera Roll.  e.g. below:

  • How do I get music and games which I purchased for my daughter through my iTunes account onto her iPad mini  but at the same time set up a separate iTunes account for her iPad?

My daughter  used to use my old iPod and all the music and games that she wanted went through my e-mail/iTunes account.  She has moved onto an iPad mini but this is still in my account.  I want to set up an e-mail and iTunes account for her so that my iPhone doesnt get jammed up with all her stuff.  If I do this I think that all the stuff which I've bought will be lost to her.  How can I get round this?

Apple devices can hold protected content from up to five different accounts, however updating apps purchased over more than one account (as far as I'm aware) requires signing in and out of each account. You may be better off continuing to use one account for your family, as I do, but disabling the options on each device for the automatic download of purchases made on the account, and in iTunes, the automatic inclusion of new apps when syncing from the library to the device.
