How do I add an extension to the phone number in Contacts.

I want to add phone extensions to the main phone number in contacts.  How do I do it?

From what I read, using a comma to separate the main number from the extension should work.  It inserts a pause, with each additional comma increasing the length of the pause.  So:
4155551234,,3710484
might be long enough for the automated system to pick up and reach the point where it'll accept the extension number.  If not, add more commas.
Commas will also sync to your iPhone if you have one, and work as intended.

  • How do I add an extension to a phone number in Contacts 7.1?

Now that the perfectly servicable Address Book has been replaced by overly complicated Contacts 7.1 in OS 10.8.3, I cannot add an extention to a telephone number. A phone number with an extention ends up looking like "4155551234ext3710484". Creating a new field named "ext" doesn't help, as any number entered into this field that is longer than 3 digits is autoformated to a phone number. Some of my contacts now have 6 digit extensions!
Contacts Help is no help whatsoever. Very frustrating.

  • How can you add an extension to a phone number

How is it possible to add an extension to a phone number in contacts, so that when you call the number its extension direct  dials?

To begin, determine which contact you want to add the phone extension to
Then, in either your phone app or Contacts app, tap that contact
Tap the "Edit" button at the top right of the contact
Tap the phone number you want to add the extension to
Tap the "+*#" button at the bottom left of the screen
When the new options come up on the screen, you'll see a "pause" button at the bottom center. Tap that
That will add a comma to the phone number. After the comma has been added to the phone number, type in the person's phone extension

  • HT2486 How do you enter an extension to a phone number in contacts?

How do you enter an extension to a phone number in contacts?

From OSX daily:The easiest way is through your iPhone or add a semicolon ";" NOT a comma in Mac Address book .
Though you’ve long been able to add automatically dialed extensions to contacts on the iPhone, the newest versions of iOS handle extensionsmuch more intelligently, allowing you to create a “Dial Extension” button to any specific contact. That extension dialer can be activated manually, making the navigation of telephony menus infinitely easier, here’s how to quickly add this to a contact:
Open Contacts and tap the contact name to add the extension to, then tap the “Edit” button
Tap the phone number entry, place the cursor at the end, then tap the “+*#” button to access additional options
Choose “wait” then enter the extension afterwards, it will add a semicolon and the extension afterwards to the address appearing like so: 1-888-555-5555;123
Tap “Done” and exit out of contacts
Now dial the contact to discover a “Dial 123″ button has appeared, tap that whenever you want to dial the extension
The extensions can also be added from a Mac in Contacts (Address Book) by adding a semicolon to numbers followed by an extension, just be sure to sync it through the same iCloud account or it won’t go over to the iPhone.
Anyone who frequently uses extensions to reach specific people at an office, or anyone who has battled an automated phone system knows how useful this can be. You can even set a string of numbers, though the Dial button remains the same.

Anyone know how to add an extension to a phone number in Address Book? And even better, how to create a pause when I call, so the extension is entered?

  • How do you add an extension to a phone number in iCloud?

I just attempted to edit a contact's business telephone by adding an extension to the end.
Here's what the number looked like to start:  (212) 555-1234
    My goal:  (212) 555-1234 x101
What resulted in iCloud when I hit save:  2125551234101
I tried several different ways of formatting the addition of the extension, but none worked.  The results all ended up exactly the same.  Anyone have any insight as to how to make this work?
    Thanks much!

  • E72 - How to format the phone number on contact

I can't figure out a easy for formatting my contact number to be like (xxx) xxx-xxxx or xxx-xxx-xxxx on e72 instead going to outlook make the changes and re-sync again. I find xxxxxxxxxx hard to read. I thought I found out how to add hypen "ctrl+(" but that basically long dash rather than short dash which you get an error if you try to send message with the phone number having the long dash. It is fine when you call. It is smart enough to strip out non-numerical value. But it is sms is not smart enough to remove it.

The sad thing is that there is an international standard for phone numbers (+xxx) xxx-xxxx which everyone ought to recognise and use. It allows localisation and shortened dialling, but Nokia just want a number string. It's just lazy on thepart of the programmers; since it's a standard, they should have developed the program code once and just inserted it into every phone they produce, and that's not hard.
A poor reflection on Nokia, I'm sad to say.
AFAIK the international standard for telephone numbers (E.164) does not say anything about using spaces, dashes, or brackets in a telephone number.
This may of course make it more "human readable", but claiming that what you want is a standard doesn't make it a standard, and I don't think Nokia (or any other phone manufacturer) should/could implement every single user-specific wish...

  • How do I display an extension to a phone number

Many of the numbers that I call since switching jobs have extensions.  Can they be added to the phone number listing as shown when making a call?  Currently, I have been adding the 'notes' field to the contact lists when someone or a particular department needs to be accessed.  I find it confusing sometimes and would like it displayed even though it may not dial it.  Can it be displayed?

You should be able to add the extension to your contact by tapping Edit, then adding a pause at the end of the number (tap the +*# key on the keyboard to get the pause button), then add the extension and tap Done.

  • Incoming or outgoing calls remove the phone number from Contacts

For the past several days, if I call out— using Contacts or shortcuts in Phone— the phone number is then deleted from the Contact address card for that person.
Not only can I no longer go to a contact and call out (the phone numbers are gone) but incoming calls and call history have no names attached to them (which is how I found out that the numbers were being deleted from the Contact cards).
Anyone else heard of this? I have tried restarting and resync-ing but the problem persists.
And is a HUGE issue as it makes the phone part of the phone fairly useless as it no longer stores any phone numbers. Luckily, I still remember some contacts by heart.

I'm having a similar problem, although there is no pattern I can figure out. Mine just randomly eats contacts. I even had the VERY weird experience of having a contact disappear, but then when that contact called my phone, the contact was recognized. When I tapped the little arrow to the side of the listed contact (in recent calls) it pulled up all the contact info. I had the option of adding to favorites, which I did, to see if it would re-add to contacts, but it DIDN'T. So now that contact is listed as a favorite, but still is not in contacts. What the heck? This is a big big problem. I can't have contacts disappearing on me.

On Windows 7 professional, how do I add firefox bookmarks to the start menu so I can access my bookmarks without opening firefox first?

Only Favorites can be displayed as a submenu of the Start Menu. You can convert your Firefox bookmarks to IE favorites as follows:
    # [[Exporting bookmarks to an HTML file|Export your bookmarks to an HTML file]].
    # [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Import-or-export-favorites-in-Internet-Explorer Import the bookmarks in Internet Explorer].
    # In Firefox, install [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/plainoldfavorites/ the PlainOldFavorites extension]. This will allow you to create and manage favorites from Firefox.
    # Alternatively, if you use both browsers, you can keep bookmarks and favorites synchronized with an extension like [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/xmarks-sync/ Xmarks Sync].

How do I add web part in the event receiver after the site is provisioned in SP 2010?

    You try the below steps:
    1. Use long operation to provision the site, so that it does not time out in process.
    2. After provisioning, you can add a page or add the web part directly to landing page of site.
For each of the above steps you can find the sample code pieces.
if you couldn't get that, let me know. I will share with you.
