How do I add more GB to my iMac?

I'm hoping this is the right place to put this (I'm a bit inexperienced in the whole hardware-software department, so really don't know what pertains to what).  I've got an iMac which I got back in 2008, and am looking to update it to Mountain Lion.  However, that apparently requires 2 GB, and it's told me I haven't got enough.  So, question is, how do I add more GB so that I can actually update it to Mac OS X Mountain Lion?  It's got Snow Leopard at the moment (10.6.8).
Here're some of my computer details:
Model Name - iMac
Identifier - iMac 7, 1
Processor - Intel Core 2 Duo
Speed - 2.4 GHz
L2 Cache - 4 MB
Memory - 1 GB
Thanks all.

Your model supports:
Maximum Memory
6.0 GB (Actual) 4.0 GB (Apple)
Memory Slots
Two - 200-pin PC2-5300 (667MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMMs
To upgrade you will need to purchase two new memory modules to replace the ones you now have installed. You can purchase memory at OWC or DataMem. OWC also has video tutorials on how to install memory in most Macs.

How do I add more memory to my Imac, I only have 1GB of memory and need 2GB to download Yosemite?

    Janet,
This is why the question rkaufmann87 asked about your model is so important:
[click chart to enlarge if needed]
The list covers the early iMacs with Intel processors that shipped with either OS 10.4 or 10.5 and have only two RAM slots. As you can see, some have limits to what version of OSX you can install. If the step rkaufmann requests does not narrow down your model, you can do one more thing.
While the "About this Mac" window is open, click the "More Info..." button at the bottom of that window to get this (assuming you are really running OS 10.5.8 as shown in your profile):
The code I've indicated with the red arrow corresponds to the codes in the second column on the chart. Post the code your computer reports--again don't post a serial number.
If your iMac shipped with only 1GB RAM, I fear it is one of the earliest models that cannot be upgraded all the way to Yosemite.

  • How do i add more memory to my imac

I need to add more memory to my imac and how do i go about it.

Append the last three characters of the iMac's serial number to http://www.everymac.com/ultimate-mac-lookup/?search_keywords= , load the page, and look up the required specifications and installation instructions.

  • How do I add more stuff to a iMAC G3?

I have a problem trying to update my iMAC G3. It runs slow, so I wanted to know how much SDRAM memory I can put into to maximize it. It has a 30gb hard disk. Can it go any higher? If so, how much, and how do I install it? My goal is to modernize this computer. I need all information I can get. I'm open to anything. Please Respond.
    Thank You,

    Welcome!
Your can install two 512 MB PC100 modules for a total of 1G RAM. Buy RAM only grom a Mac-savvy RAM vendor, preferably online. Most walk-in stores will sell you the wrong thing.
The largest hard drive space the drive controller will recognized is 128GB; the drive controller cannot be upgraded. Of you cannot find a 120GB drive, anything larger like a 160GB model must be partitioned so the first partition is under 128GB and the rest of the drive is left unformatted.
"Slow" is a relative thing. If web videos and animations are slow, there is not much you can do--video technology has left the G3 and G4 processors behind. However, if launching things acts slow, you may be able to help that with more RAM and the larger hard drive, and doing some easy routine maintenance. See this website:
    http://thexlab.com/faqs/faqs.html
focusing on articles with "Maintenance" in the title.
Installing a new hard drive is a good time to upgrade the OS to Tiger. That would at least let you use modern browsers.

  • HT1423 How do I add more memory to my imac 5.1. Lion is requiring 2gb of memory and it only comes with 1 gb of memory

    I already have snow leopard.

Hello, Sadly you have to pull those & install bigger ones.
    http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/apple/memory/iMac/Intel_Core_2_Duo_2006
And go for at least the 3 or 4 GB kit, & that while satisfying the minimum, isn't really enough for 10.6.x

  • How do I add more than one picture on a page?

I just started using Lightroom, and I want to know how I can add more than one picture onto a page to print or email. Right now, I will choose a picture, and it will make all of the pictures on the page that picture. I have even tried dragging a picture onto a page, but it just changes all of the pictures to the dragged picture.
    Thanks.

It can be done in Lightroom 2 but, as John pointed out, it requires a 'hack.'  Here is how it's done:

  • How can i  add more than 500 jPanels in a jScrollPane

    Hello to all ,
I am facing a problem related to adding jPanels in jScrollPane. My application needs more than 500 jpanels in the jscrollpane.where in each jPanel 4 jtextboxes, 1 comboboxes, 1 check box is there.when the check box will be clicked then the total row( ie row means the panel containing the 4 jtextboxes, 1 comboboxes, 1 check box ).and when the user will click on move up or move down button then the selected jpanel will move up or down.
The tool(sun java studio enterprise 8.1) is not allowing more Jpanels to add manually. so i have to add the jpanels by writing the code in to a loop. and the problem is that when i am trying to add the code in the code generated by the tool the code written out side the code by me is not integratable into the tool generated code.
If u watch the code here am sending u ll get what am facing the problem. The idea of creating jpanels through loop is ok but when trying to impleent in tool facing difficulties.
A example code am sending here. please tell me how i can add more panels to the scrollpane(it is the tool generated code)
Thanks in advance , plz help me for the above

Thanks for here kind attention to solve my problem.
I am thinking to create the classes separately for the components (i.e the jpanel, combobox, textbox etc)and call their instaces from the for loop .But the problem is the jpanel will contain the other components and that jpanels (unlimited jpanels will be added later)will be later added to the jscrollpane.
By writing code, the problem is to place components( the comboboxes, textboxes etc placed on the jpanel ) in appropriate coordinates . So i am doing it through tool .
I am sending here the sample code related to my actual need . In this i have taken a jScrollPane, on that i have added jPanel1 and on jPanel1 i have added jPanel2.On jPanel2 jTextField1, jComboBox1,jCheckBox are added. If the u ll see the code u can understand what problem i am facing.
If i am still not clearly explained ,please ask me. plz help me if u can as u have already handled a problem similar to this.

how do I add more email to safe sender ?

    Hello jdalsmith,
If you are trying to add more email addresses to your "Allowed Senders" list in ePrintCenter you need to click the icon in your ePrintCenter account labeled "ePrint Settings". From here, click the button next to "Allowed Senders Only" if it is not already selected. All you need to do from here is type an email address in the blank text box and click the button "+ Add Email" and it should be displayed below in the list of Allowed Senders. Make sure you click "Save" to keep these settings after you have finished.
If you need further assistance, feel free to reply to this post and I will try my best to find an answer for you.
If I have solved your issue, please feel free to provide kudos and make sure you mark this thread as solution provided!

  • How do I add more ports to my new Airport Extreme?

How do I add more ports to my new Airport Extreme?  What do I need to buy?

Thinking to leave as is for now-  one 2013 extreme.
That would certainly keep things a lot simpler.
Does it seem right that using speed test I'm getting similar speeds, no matter if I'm connected via wi-fi, or Ethernet?
A very good sign assuming those speeds are reasonably close to the your plan offered by your ISP. The Extreme itself is capable of much faster speeds than your ISP can ever hope to provide.
I'm thinking that all the speed in the world is not going to change Time Warner Cable, the provider for earthlink cable
Not sure what you mean here. Time Warner provides various plans, some up to 50 Mbps. I get 60+ consistently with this plan.  I had a 30 Mpbs plan before that consistently delivered about 35-36 Mbps.
The math is simple. If you download a lot of files from the Internet, a 50 Mbps connection is going to take half as long to download a file as a 25 Mbps connection, for example.
One word of caution though....if you try a higher speed plan...plan to stay, as you will never go back to slower speeds once you have sampled higher speeds. Comcast now owns Time Warner by the way. I don't know whether that will be a good thing or a bad thing.

  • How do I add more channels to my input source?

I'm trying to record my son's band on a iBook in the rehearsal studio, and would like to also do this type of recording on my iMac here at home, so how do I add more channels to my input source for simultaneous multi-track recording. Right now I am only getting 2 mono and 1 stereo channels.
Ultimately I would like to add the maximum amount (probably 8 tracks), and still be able to record simultaneously with at least one guitar, one bass, one vocal mike, and the drums on one mike...
According to Hangtimes/Garage Door website, this is a possibility, but first I must create more channels.
    Please help. THANKS...

My input source is a Tascam US-144 USB Interface that has 2 mic in's, and 2 line in's for guitar/bass.
I would like to separately record each input on different channels simultaneously.
You might also want to check out the M-Audio NRV10, which is a hybrid analog mixer + firewire audio interface (with I think around 10 simultaneously available separate channels), which makes it very "band friendly" for both rehearsal and recording.

How do I add more songs to my slideshows in elements 11?

    Welcome to the forum.
However, this is the Photoshop>General Discussions forum, and does not cover either Elements program, Premiere Elements, or Photoshop Elements, or their Elements Organizer.
If you can please let us know exactly which of the Elements program you are using (either Premiere Elements, or Photoshop Elements, through the Elements Organizer), a MOD can Move your post to the appropriate forum, where you will get quick answers.
Also, additional music can be Imported into several of the Elements programs, but knowing exactly which you are using, will dictate the instructions.
Good luck, and please let us know more.

  • How can I add more memory to my iPad?

How can I add more memory to my iPad?

Memory refers to RAM, and can't be increased.
I asume you mean storege space (like 16GB, 32GB, etc). It also can't be increased.
There are some wireless external hard drives that can be used with the iPad.
The Kingston Wi-Drive, which costs $50 for the 16 Gigabyte, and then $30 more for every 16 gigs more. It works by you turning it on and then accessing the files on it from an app that you download on your iDevice. You can access music, movies, and other stuff. No connections or anything, it works like a WiFi connection, you connect to it from the setting on the iPad under wireless networks.
Then there is the Seagate GoFlex, which some would recommend over the Wi-Drive. But this one costs $199 and had 500 Gigabytes of storage. It works the sameway as the Kingston: no wires, runs over its wireless connection. You can actually fit up to 300 HD movies on it.
    Another option:
Expand your iPad's storage capacity with HyperDrive
