How do I add music to the cloud from PC to my iPhone, iPad, and Apple tv?

icloud does not handle music, except for letting you download music you previously bought at the iTunes store.  For music, get it into iTunes on your PC, then connect your devices to the PC and using iTunes to sync it to them.  Not sure about Apple TV.  I think that might require buying a subscription to iTunes Match.

Import your music to iTunes then sync your iPhone to iTunes.

  • When I plug in my iPhone to sync, it starts but does not complete the process and several pieces of data are not being transferred to my iPhone from my MacBook Air.

    Problem:
When I plug in my iPhone to sync, it starts but does not complete the process and several pieces of data are not being transferred to my iPhone from my MacBook Air.
Any help that you can provide in helping my iPhone accurately sync with iPhoto and iTunes will be greatly appreciated.
    Symptoms:
    1)   Sync:  It’s not completing the sync.  Below, I’ve provided all of my settings from the iTunes Summary tab so that you might tell me if I’ve selected any incorrect options.  I prefer to sync the “old school” way – by connecting to the computer – as opposed to syncing over the cloud. Perhaps this is what’s causing the problem? Here is a list of the steps displayed in the iTunes window as the sync progresses:
waiting for sync to start (step 1 of 7)
backing up (step 2 of 7)
preparing to sync (step 3 of 7)
determining apps to sync (step 4 of 7)
preparing apps to sync (step 5 of 7)
importing photos (step 6 of 7)
waiting for changes to be applied (step 7 of 7)
syncing apps / copying 1 of 4 (App name) (step 7 of 7)
    canceling sync
    apple icon
    2)   Photos: I've selected only certain of my iPhoto albums to sync to my iPhone.  All of the albums are correct/complete in iPhoto.  All of the albums are listed on my iPhone, both before and after the sync, but the albums are empty (no actual photos) before and after the sync. Perhaps this is tied to the fact that the sync isn’t completing, but because “importing photos” is one of the steps that the incomplete sync displays, I don’t know.
    3)   Apps: When I launch iTunes and click on the Apps folder under the Library listing, then click on the Updates tab, iTunes searches for any Apps needing to be updated and provides a list.  If I click on Update All, the Apps are successfully updated in iTunes.  But, when I plug in my iPhone so that the updates will transfer to the apps on my iPhone, the updates don’t transfer to the apps on my iPhone and those apps still reflect that they need updating on the iPhone.
    Other Potential Pertinent Info:
The flash memory hard drive on my MacBook Air recently died (perhaps a month or two ago).  Apple had emailed me about a known issue and literally the next day, my MacBook Air crashed.  I installed a new flash memory drive and re-installed everything from a backup off of an external hard drive.  Everything seems to be working fine; it recreated accurately all of my software and data, including iPhoto and iTunes, the pictures and songs (respectively) for which are stored on that hard drive, as opposed to being on the flash memory in the MacBook Air itself.  However, I don’t recall if the start of the sync problem described herein started happening at the same time that I replaced the flash memory drive.  All I know is that the computer is working perfectly in all respects and that even as the sync is failing, it at least says that it’s doing the right things and looking in the right places (e.g., the list of albums on my iPhone matches the list of albums in iTunes, etc.).
    Settings/Status:
    MacBook Air
    OSX v. 10.9
    iPhoto ’11 v. 9.5 (902.7)
    iPhone iOS 7.0.4
    iTunes v. 11.1.3 (8)
    Summary Tab
    Backups (This Computer)
    Options
Automatically sync when this iPhone is connected
Sync only checked songs and videos
    Photos Tab
Sync Photos from iPhoto (429 Photos)
Selected albums, Events, and Faces, and automatically include (no Events)
    Albums – 9 are selected

You need to download iTunes on your computer. iOS 6 requires the latest version of iTunes which is 10.7.

  • I can no longer manually add music to my iPhone from iTunes; what happened?

Recently I have been unable to add new music to my iPhone from iTunes. I used to be able to just select the songs I wanted, then drag and drop them onto to the phone by hovering over the iPhone icon. Now I get a crossed-out circle icon when I try to do this. Why is this happening, and how can I work around it? I'm pretty frustrated, as you can imagine!

Thanks for the judgmental response, Dave. My favorite part was where you told me how to manage the space on my computer. My second favorite part was when you accused me to stealing music.
I have only synced my iPhone with one computer and its iTunes library. I download music legally to that computer, from mixtape sites, Bandcamp, Amazon and---GASP---other none iTunes sites, load it onto my iPhone, then delete some of it, because I don't listen to music on my computer. I listen to it on a device I purchased to play it. That device is called an iPhone. It's supposed to play mp3s.
    Have I blown your mind?
But if I am hearing you right, you are telling me the iPhone is literally the only mp3 player in existence that doesn't and shouldn't have the basic functionality to have new mp3s loaded to it from a single authorized computer. That I should be happy now that I cannot load new music onto it, and I should just live with the music that I have already loaded, since I can't load anymore.
And that I should be happy that this basic functionality that, until the most recent software update, I have always had has magically disappeared.
How foolish it was of me to be upset about this! Thank you for showing me the light, Dave.

  • How do i add media to my iphone from another computer without syncing and deleting all the info currently on it

My iphone was synced to my old computer
How do i add content to my phone from my new computer. It says i can only be synced with one computer and it will delete everything on my phone to sync with the new computer.
This doesn't make much sense. What am i missing?

It does make sense.  The iPhone is a one-person device and just syncs to one computer.
The way it should work is as follows:
Old computer content ---> New computer
New computer <---> syncs to iPhone
But the way you are trying to operate sounds like:
    Old computer content ---> iPhone
    ... and ...
    New computer content <---> iPhone
So simply move your old stuff (either directly from iTunes, or from a computer backup) to the new computer, have it all there, then sync your iPhone to the new machine.

  • How can i play music on my ipad via my macbook air?

    Hi all,
A few months ago my wife convinced me to ditch my *cough* Windows PC *cough* and I converted to Apple.
I am a very happy disciple these days, but still have a lot to learn
I have an iPhone 4, my wife has an iPad 2 and I also have a MacBook Air. I would like to store all my music from my iPhone on my MacBook Air and my wife wants to do the same with the music stored on her iPad 2. Both the iPhone 4 and iPad 2 are running out of storage.
Is there any way we can store our music on the MacBook Air and play the tunes via my MacBook Air on my iPhone and my wife's iPad  when we are in range of our wireless signal? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Jay

  • How can I add music to my iPhone 3 from a new iTunes?  My old laptop crashed and I don't want to lose my music by syncing my iPhone with the new iTunes

I have an iPhone 3, and it was synced to iTunes on my old laptop.  My laptop recently crashed, and now I have a new laptop.  I just dowloaded iTunes and imported a few CDs that I want to add to my iPhone. Unfortunately, I can't add them to my iPhone without syncing it and therefore losing my music on my iPhone, most of which was not purchased through iTunes so I can't restore it that way.  I was going to update to ios5 so I could use the cloud to save my music, but I will lose all my non-purchased music if I update.  Help!!!!

Really?  Why would you do that?
You can transfer itunes purchases from your iphone to your comptuer.  Without syncing:  File>Transfer Purchases
You should import any pics taken with iphoen to the new computer, as you would with any other digital camera.
You can e-mail the pics that you synced to the iphone to yourself.  They will not be of the original quality.
If you enter one unique contact and calendar entry on the new comptuer, then when you sync, you should get the option ot merge the data.
    No backup is not good.
