How do I add video files to my itunes library?

Ok, this is basic but how do I add videos to my library? The files is supported by itunes but whenever i try to add to my library it's not there!

First, double-click on the Movies item in the Library. You will see a new window appear. Next, make sure you know the location of the movie file. Then, go to File > Add File to Library... and browse for the movie file (if you don't see it, it isn't compatible with iTunes; you have to convert it; see here for details: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1347). Then, with it selected, press Enter or Return. Tada-- there it is!

HI.Andrew. Thanks for the reply. I think there has been misunderstanding and I am sorry about it. I am not streaming from my computer using Twonky. I have videos on my networked EZ drive in a media shared folder called movies. I also have photos in other folders as well which have no problem streaming. A majority of these videos (nearly 99%) are in the latest .m2TS or MPEG-4 format (from my video camera) and about 8 of them are in the MPEG-1 format. I used to be able to use my networked SOny Blu-Ray player to stream these videos (any format) to my TV and watch them, till this february when i updated my firmware. It does not need my laptop to be on for that (hence not media integrationissues). After my firmware update, the only video that plays are the eight MPEG-1 format videos. Very strange. I have no problem streaming photos or music from the EZ drive. I think I might have confused you with the Twonky thing, because on the EZ drive's manager window on the browser, after selecting "Media server" settings, I used to see a twonky server against my laptop PC in the table of connected devices (for media integration), which I now understand was because of media integration of the laptop. So please ignore that. I now get the message "no playable file found" when I try to stream videos from the EZ drive through my Blu-Ray player. I do see the Lenovo-EMC2 icon on my Blu-ray players video channels, clicking on it does show me folders, but it cannot find any playable file, while earlier it used to play those same files. I dont understand what happened. I am hoping you can throw some light on this issue.

I Have been using, Ipad for only around a month or so (Ipad 2), and it was only yesterday that i tried to use the Itunes. I first downloaded the latest itunes (10.7.0.21), and took backup of all my Ipad data.
After this, I wanted to add some video to my ipad, as it was essential to add the same to My itunes first, I roceeded to do just that. I went through this command {File - Add File to Library}, and then went on to select the Video file. There's just a flicker, and then nothing happens at all - the itune screen remains, and there is no error message too. Whereas, I can easily add Audio Files.
After this, I even downaload the latest Quick time (7.7.2), as I had read somewhere that the same is necessary. When I tried to open the Video file in Quick time, it did not open. After that I downloaded the codec DivX and DivX player. Though the Video plays in DivX, it refuses to open in Itune and does not play properly in Quicktime (slider moves, but sound and video is not there).
Frankly, I am utterly confused.

AAC is Advanced Audio Coding. Basically it's a format that sounds better than MP3 but doesn't take up as much space as a lossless format (like you'd have on a CD). More than likely you've had that encoding turned on when you ripped your music into itunes (it's the default encoder). Therefore your LG phone won't play them.
You need to turn off the AAC format by going to the iTunes menu, Preferences, General (at the top), then clicking the "Import Preferences" button. Change the AAC Encoder to MP3 Encoder. After that you'll have to make MP3 copies of your songs by right clicking them and selecting "Create MP3 Version." You'll get a copy of the song that should transfer to your SD card and have MP3 encoding. Hopefully your phone will play that.

you have to transport the KM Content separatly.

When you automated the transport with CTS+ it might be possible to synchronize the transport of the PCD-Objects and the KM-Content (I have not tried this myself actually ...)

But when I do 2-3 at a time, it works, just does not work for let's stay 5+ files at a time. I go to File->Add file, then select the songs. Please help!

I'm wondering if you're trying to import music files with digital rights management (DRM)? Also, sometimes iTunes doesn't like mixed types being dragged together, e.g. AAC and MP3 or MP3 and WAV or AAC. You should be able to drag and drop a whole folder. Don't know if that's much help. Maybe you could provide more details on file type, where you're copying from.

How to automatically add new files to external iTunes Media Library

I have an external hard drive that I store all of my music on and have set as my iTunes media file location. When I connect it, I open iTunes and can play all of my songs off of the hard drive with no problem. But many times I do not have my external hard drive plugged in when I purchase and add new files onto iTunes. Because of this, even though I have my preferences set to automatically add new iTunes files to the external media folder, when I connect my hard drive, the files will not be on the hard drive's media folder and they will not immediately transfer over to the hard drive, and I will then have to add them manually. Is there a setting that I can use that will set all new or recently added files on my iTunes to be transferred over to my external hard drive once it is connected? Or maybe a command that compares my iTunes with my external media file folder and transfers all new media over to my external folder? Any help would be appreciated.

Well I actually found something that was fairly close to what I was looking for. If you right click a file or selection of files then click the option 'consolidate files' you can copy them to the media library. I guess I'll just have to filter my recently added playlist by the right amount of time then use the consolidate option. I still think that making a feature that automatically copys newly added files to the external media folder once it is connected would be a very worthwile investment in Apple's time

Recently I switched from a PC running Windows XP to a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.5.8. I successfully imported my iTunes library from my external hard drive. The existing files play without a problem, but the computer is preventing me from loading any new music or podcasts onto the external drive. This includes podcasts through iTunes as well as outside sources such as Amazon. I get a message which reads that I am not authorized to make changes. I am the administrator on this computer. This is confusing. If you "import" the library it is on your internal drive, but you say it is on the external. Anyway, I think the drive's the problem. Highlight the drive in Finder and get info on it. If it says it is NTFS format that is a format commonly used with Windows but Macs can only read NTFS format, not write to it. You will either need to reformat the drive (ideally to Mac extended) or buy software which will ket you use NTFS drives with a Mac computer.

My itunes library has 0ver 200k files and about 30,000 were on an external drive that crashed leaving me with 30,000 orphan files that I want to delete from the library.
