How do I adjust bit stream when buying music from iTunes

How do I adjust the quality of my downloads from the iTunes store? It's easy enough when ripping from a CD to select the bit stream but all of the tracks I buy from iTunes are defaulting to 128 kbps.

The iTunes Store is in the business of selling AAC files encoded at 128 kbps. Regardless of your Import settings - which apply only to music you import from CD's - that's what they sell and that's all that they sell.
For what it's worth, Apple says "a 128-kilobit-per-second (kbit/s) AAC file should sound as good as or better than a 160 kbit/s MP3 file."
But in the end you'll have to decide whether or not that meets your requirements.

If you do not have a German credit card and billing address there is nothing that you can do to purchase music. The record labels forbid cross border sales.

If you've forgotten the answers to your security questions and you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then you can try going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you might see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.

O.K. Everything seems to be in order now!
I don't know what happened but this is the results....
After attempting to edit change the information on my iTunesMS account at least 7 times, I posted the above question, logged out of iTunes, closed down all my apps and turned off my computer.
A few hours later, I thought I would give it one more try and when I turned on iTunes, went to the Music Store and then 'reviewed' my account... it had my old American address on it with the country listed as Sweden... I just left it alone, as it didn't have my credit card info listed at all... Curiously, I'm clueless about that (though I did send this same complaint to Apple during the first posting... did that have anything to do with it?) When I clicked the continue button (without changing any info) it prompted me that I was finished setting up my iTunes Music Store account and I was immediately able to download some songs....(using the iTunes Music card--- I have not tried my MasterCard!)
So basically, I did nothing except close iTunes, turn off my computer and later rebooted it and opened iTunes! Strange... does that seem like a fix or what?

I can understand the copyright laws etc for music & even movies etc. I would certainly also like to have access to these but there is also a lot of software in the iStore that we in South Africa are restricted from downloading. The U.S. iStore has many software titles that the South African iStore does not have. I have not checked the U.K. iStore yet, do you experience similar restrictions?
We pay a lot more for the Apple products than for similar products of other brands & it seems really unfair in light of these restrictions. We don't even have a Gaming section in the South African iStore for example. Every time I purchase another Apple product I just get this feeling that we are getting ripped off a little because we aren't getting the same value out of the devices we buy. I know I'm not alone when I say this really deserves to have been sorted out by now. It's been like this for years already.

Unknown error occurred when trying to buy music from iTunes

Whenever I try to buy a song or album from iTunes it says an unknown error has occurred (-405054) and can't be completed.

I had this problem just recently.
I discovered that the problem was located here: ROOT / Users / Shared -- if you open that and the "adi" folder has a little red minus symbol in its corner, your permissions have somehow been lost. (If you can't see your root directory, open Finder Preferences and, under sidebar, check "Hard disks." That will make your root drive visible.)
If the "adi" folder has the red minus symbol, right-click the folder and select GET INFO.
Sharing & Permissions is probably set to "System: Read & Write | wheel: Read Only | everyone: No Access"
If so, your user account has no permissions, and that means iTunes can't use the folder properly.
To fix this, first unlock the folder using the padlock icon in the bottom-right corner of "get info." You will have to supply your admin password to do this.
Then click the little + sign in the bottom left corner to add a user, and select your user ID from the list of choices. Give yourself Read & Write permissions. (Alternatively, you could change the permissions of "everyone" to Read & Write; others have done that, but I was leery of doing it).
Re-lock the folder when you're done.
Hopefully that will solve it.

LG HBS-730 skips when streaming or playing music from iTunes Radio

I have an LG Tone+(HBS-730) and it seems to skip when streaming music from Pandora, XMSirus and even iTunes Radio. When I contact LG they say it's the phone and the Bluetooth compatibility. I had the same problem before updating to IOS 8 also. Anyone else have this issue?

BDAqua, the drive is partitioned as a single partition, nearly 3 TB, Mac OS-X Extended (Journaled).
No clue about Spotlight, I've never messed with it. Are you thinking that Spotlight may be indexing (or whatever the term is) periodically, and that is causing my hiccup?
Again, it only happens with the combination of MegaSeg and the G-SAFE. iTunes and QuickTime Player perform well on the G-SAFE as is. But they are both Apple products, as is Spotlight.
I will definitely give that a try the next time I'm in the office!

Stuck at downloading when buying music from iStore

Help! I have paifd for two music downloads to iTunes (v11.0.2.26) on my PC (Windows XP). I have tried shutting down iTunes (as recommended in an earlier post), re-starting but the tunes have just disappeared and are not in my Purchased folder. This is a problem that Apple MUST solve or refund me for goods paid for and not received. I want Apple to spend time fixing it, not me, because I am the customer. I will not be buying anything from iStore until this has been fixed. I feel as if I have just been mugged. BTW: does anyone from Apple Support actually participate in these blogs?

IPOD Nano experiences error when downloading music from iTunes

To make a long story short, my new Nano wouldn't fully download all songs from my iTunes library. I received an error about a missing file. As I followed the Apple suggestions to fix the problem I eventually got to a point where the Nano was frozen and wouldn't respond to anything. I couldn't even reset it. I took the Nano back and exchanged for another. The exact same thing happened again, which leads me to believe it's not the Nano that is the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

By "download" I assume you mean transferring songs from iTunes to iPod correct?
When the songs are transferring, try to pin down if it's any particular file from your library that's causing this. Watch the status window at the top of iTunes.
It may be a corrupt file from your library that's causing this, and if you can pinpoint which one(s), you can delete them from iTunes and try again.
