How do I adjust BITC rates in Final cut Pro
I have a client who i am doing sound design for on his short film. I received an m4v in 23.98 with the dialog track embedded. I performed my dialog edit and exported a BWF from Digital performer which all synced perfectly here. He in turn dropped the new dialog track into FCP and sync wanders and gets worse as the film plays on. he is in 23.98, 16/48K audio and all should be the same there as here.
Help?
Also, I had a client say he once had to adjust the samples by key frames in FCP to make sure sync stayed consistant throughout the film. Any one else heard of this?
Thanks in advance.
Hey Shane-
I've been using Digital performer combined with FCP, AVID and Premiere for a number of years and nary an issue. And yes, i am running everything to match his timeline. 23.98 and 16/48K.
I ran into an issue one time before though on a 2 1/2 hour feature that sync began to wander toward the end of the film. The editor adjusted the samples so it was actually running at 47.23256K instead of a solid 48K word rate. Not sure how he did this, jsut wondered if this might be the issue here. he is running all on a Mac and FCP 6.06.
The film is on 65 minutes so not sure where the sync problem could occur. He's doing some troubleshooting on his end. And please understand this is the director, not the editor I'm dealing with. Could very well be operator error .

How to compress/adjust imported videos in Final Cut Pro and iMovie?
Left: what the video looks like when played in iPhoto or Quicktime (Dimensions: 960 x 720, Codecs: AAC, H.264) .mov
Right: what the video looks like when played in iMovie or Final Cut Pro.
SOSthe left shot is 4:3 (960/720)
the right shot is a 16:9 project (1920/1080 or 1280/720) with a stretched-to-fit 4.3 video.
If you want an un-stretched project, set it to 4:3 manually when you create a New project, or use the transform-tool and resize the video - which will add bars l/r or chops-off t/b of the video...
or use the Spatial Confirm settings in the Inspector ... -
I shot video on a Panasonic P2 and I'm trying to import the MXF files to Final Cut Pro but when I try to import, the only thing that imports is a blurry image of each clip. There's no audio and no video...how can I import MXF files into Final Cut Pro?
at the end, you say "import preferences", which program are you describing?
So im safer using footage that is remotely being pulled from iphoto...
vs
using footage that is imported into FCP from imovie?
Is there anything i can do in fcp to make this footage more reliable or safer or more stable as i pull remotely from iphoto?
All the footage, and all the libraries to all programs, or on a new pegasus 12tb raid 5 setup fyi. -

How do I export a project from Final Cut Pro to my desktop as a movie?
Can anyone please help me.. when I click on my timeline in my project library and try to export movie nothing happens! and when I try to "share" to youtube I get an error message stating that it cannot be exported because it contains "no video"... The 4 minute music video that I've created with shots off my Canon T2i looks and plays great....If I uploaded the videos into Final Cut but did not save them on my desktop or anywhere else on the Mac would this be a reason to get this message? I have never experienced this before...the only option under "share" that works is "email"

How do I make a pic in final cut Pro stop flickering?
how do I make a pic in final cut Pro stop flickering?
Question: how do I make a pic in final cut Pro stop flickering?
Answer: It depends on what is causing the flickering. It could be due to the pixel dimensions being too large for the Sequence settings in FCP. It could be due to thin horizontal lines in the image. It could be due to areas of the image in high contrast with each other. Or it could be due to a combination of several factors.
If the image is too large, reduce the pixel dimensions to a more reasonable size.
If it's due to thin horizontal lines, deinterlace the image, or slightly blur the lines in Photoshop.
If it's due to areas of high contrrast, reduce the contrast of those areas in Photoshop.
In FCP you can also try applying the Flicker filter to the image in the Timeline and/or a Gaussian blur filter with a setting of around 0.2 or 0.3

How do use the hum remover in final cut pro 5? Help
How do use the hum remover in final cut pro 5? Help!!
Simply drop the effect onto the appropriate audio track. Set the frequency for the hum frequency (50Hz or 60Hz depending on your power supply). Include whichever harmonics you think might be present eg. 100, 150, 200Hz.
Note that I have generally had more success by using Soundtrack Pro's noise removal tool.

Animation. How do I import still images in final cut pro x (from dragon frame) duration 3 frames pr. image? We have allready tried to set stillimages duration in preferences to 0,08 sek, but it does not have any effect!
You can drag your images to the timeline, select all, ctrl-d and set the duration to 3 frames by typing 3 and enter.
Or you can use Quicktime 7 to "open image sequence", select the desired duration, export your animation to quicktime and import that into FCP X for further editing. -

How do i restore a project in final cut pro x?
Hi, I want to revert to a previous version of my project from a few hours previous (I don't like the changes I have made). I know Final Cut Pro X autosaves but how do I go back in time to get to my previous saves?
There is no incremental backup. You would have to keep undoing. There is unlimited undo so you could back up all the way to the last time you launched the application, theoretically. Some things mysteriously are not on the undo list, so I don't know how that would effect the undo history going backwards.

How should I move all of my Final Cut Pro files to an external drive?
My MacBook Pro doesn't have enough space to hold all of my Final Cut Pro X files (my internal hard drive is only 120GB), and I bought an external hard drive that has 120GB capacity too but want to move all of my FCP files to that drive. What exactly should I be moving? Do I move the application itself? And how do I tell FCP where to find all of my media? Sorry if it seems like a stupid question, I'm relatively new to Macs.
Thanks! The application remains in the Applications folder.
The best way is to copy the projects by duplicating them to the new drive. Do that from inside the application. Duplicate the projects with all referenced events. When all the projects and media have been copied and are working correctly then you can delete them from your internal drive.
Caution: make sure the media is actually in the events you're duplicating. If not, use the organize events function, or you will lose the media.
