How do I adjust contrast?

In PE I have imported a film from a camera mini disk which plays fine - right contrast before importing.  But when I preview it in PE export from PE to an MPEG file for Youtube it is too dark.  I try applying the image effect in PE but it only works when I double click the clip, not in the standard preview or when exported.  I am probably being really dim here but I cannot see what I am doing wrong!

Bill,
     Thank you for your patience!  I have done what you say and successfully applied the effect to the clip.  But my problem is geting that effect to happen in either the monitor pane or when I export the clip as an MPEG.
As I said I am probably being really dim here.

  • How can I adjust contrast on Apple Support Sites, etc.

    I have a great problem with Apple web content.  Even this attempt to type my question is plagued by the same issue: There is not enough contrast between the letters I just typed, and their back ground.   A big problem for me, as it seems the font color chosen by this apple web page and its background color chosen by this webpage, are creating an almost impossible eye strain and are terrible for people suffering from various forms of eye disease such as cataracts, makular degeneration, etc.  I am one of them.  I use Zoom for most of my computer work and generally can do everything  on my Mac. Except change this lack of contrast on any website created by Apple web designers.  Apple Update sites urging me to change my OS to Yosemite are completely  unreadable to me!  I need somebody to read its faded print to me.   I dread to change to an OS that I probably cannot read because some web designer who want to design a contrast combination that is more "far out" than the previous one.  There are millions having such eye diseases and computers are one way to let them enlarge and see things needed for their continued function.  Contrast settings in Accessibilty  Preferences do not alleviate the problem as they simply seem to make the screen brighter if increased.
    Is there any Application that would let me change the contrast settings of a website designed by Apple?

    Thanks for the hep I will contact the suggested Apple site.  As a guy who worked with Apple computers since they were black and white pack-backs its nice  to know that I am not the only one to notice that there is a big problem here.
    I experimented again with the Accessibility Preferences/Contrast settings on my MacBook Air, and discovered that If I slide the indicator to the right to "Enhance Contrast", the opposite happens on my screen: I have less contrast so that grey fonts wash out into the white back-ground more and more as the pointer is moved to the right.
    I never had to adjust the settings since I bought the MacBook with OS 10.6, and its function could have been reversed by OS upgrades since then o my present OS 10.8.5, or it could have been a problem since I bought the computer (used) from my Apple dealer.
    I never had to adjust the contrast settings until now, since my eyes became weaker, and the Apple websites started using fonts of too similar a color to the background they are printed on.
    So with that in mind it could be a hardware problem such as a reversed +/- wiring connection to the screen, a reversed diode on the motherboard, or a short in the diode wiring, a reversed OS code setting that reverses the direction of the contrast setting for its control.
    It could also be Malware or a Virus, which has not been detected by the OS, nor the latest Norton on my Macbook Air..

  • New iOS 7 is very difficult to see screens. How can you adjust contrast?

    I upgraded my iPhone to iOS 7. How can I improve the contrast on all the screens and apps. Most screens are all white or very light with smaller text and I can barely see anything, especially when out in the sun.  Is there a setting to change or a way to improve the contrast?

    Settings -> General-> Accessibility -> Increase Contrast
    You can also turn on the setting for Bold Text. Those two options should help at least somewhat.

  • Adjusting contrast in a PDF document with multiple pages

    I have seen a question asked several times in various forums and it never gets an answer:  how do you adust the contrast and brightness of a scanned PDF if it has several pages?  You can't do it in Acrobat, and there are no third-party tools that I've found that work.  If you have Photoshop, there is a solution to the problem, which does not require adjusting every page in a document.  I use a high-speed duplex hopper-fed scanner to copy books or articles I need for my school work (no, I don't violate copyright by giving them away).  There is no way to adjust contrast at the scanner level, so I end up with a 700-page document that is too light or too dark.
    1.  Use Acrobat to extract all the pages to separate files.
    2.  Use Adobe Bridge Tools>Rename to serially rename all the pages, so that Photoshop sees them in the right order and they can be reassembled later.  There are other free or cheap tools for batch renaming that work equally well.
    3.  Experiment with your settings on a sample page in Photoshop, until you find one that works.  I usually use auto-contrast, or adjust the curves myself.
    4.  Perform whatever other manipulation you need to on the document page, such as resizing or changing mode to greyscale.
    5.  Create an action following the same steps.
    6.  Run a batch process on all the pages in your undone folder, saving them to a done folder.  Override the Open and Save settings to avoid dialogue boxes and so on.
    7.  Reassemble the document from the individual pages using the Combine function in Acrobat.
    I use this method frequently, making small adjustments to the action as necessary.  It takes a while to do a large document, but it solves a lot of problems.  One problem that is very hard to solve, however, is caused by scanning cheap paper, which makes the scans come out blotchy and grey, and very hard to re-contrast without losing resolution.  Acrobat can help solve this problem sometimes with the Optimize Document functions, but in general, it's easier to scan better, whiter paper than rescue it later.  One solution is to scan only one side at a time, and then use a third-party PDF tool to interleave the pages.
    If you have a lot of documents to do that can use more or less the same settings, create a Droplet macro in Photoshop and drag your page folders to it, instead of running a batch.
    Hope that helps.

    Thanks for posting your solution.

  • How to auto adjust images in imageJ?

    Hello,
    I would like to know How can I adjust the contrast and brightness in imageJ using a Java application?
    imageJ has ContrastAdjuster.java and inside it an autoAdjust function which is not public, so I cannot call it? any one has experience with this?
    Best Regards,

    Your calling class needs to be at that access modifier allowance ,
    since your caller probably isn't,
    you can make a small class with that access level(no specifier - is between protected and private) to join it that you can reference with your caller package level,
    or probably better, a nested class of that access level in your caller class with global scope instantiation in your caller.
    *// not all syntax is here - This just to give you a guide of the type of access specifier shuffling and reprocessing to obtain the methods variables at the same level as obtaining the ability to call the method , it may be more practical to target the class in imageJ that instantiates the ContrastAdjuster class and simply obtain its reference to ContrastAdjuster*
    *//ContrastAdjuster adj - should be passed from wherever it is instantiated , presumably its in a higher level class frame in the application*
    public class IwasCalling{
    CallAutoAdjuster callAUTContraster;
    public IwasCalling(ContrastAdjuster adj){
    callAUTContraster = new CallAutoAdjuster();
    //start nested class
    class CallAutoAdjuster{
    void callAutoAdjuster(){
    autoAdjust(imp,ip); // ImagePlus imp , ImageProcessor ip
    }//end method
    }//end nested
    }//end iwascalling

    After taking a good look at the .java files
    --i find the doAutoAdjust variable requires to be set in the public class ContrastAdjuster and call notify()--
    ..and i have no idea how i lost the plot there... it was the contrast slider value you wanted
    so a method would be from some class you create
    // contr is the reference to the ij plugin frame extended from JFrame that ContrastAdjuster.java extends from
    public int adJustContrast(int slideVal){ // this listener method sets an int in  ContrastAdjuster public synchronized void adjustmentValueChanged(AdjustmentEvent e)
    // with the line contrastValue = contrastSlider.getValue();
    // int sliderRange = 256; this global int is divided by two appears to be the Max for contrast and the or a scrollbar appears to be a make-shift slider value changer
    contr.contrastValue = slideVal; // global accessible int in ContrastAdjuster
    return contr.contrastValue;
    public boolean adjAuto(){
    contr.doAutoAdjust = true;
    return contr.doAutoAdjust;
    public void updateNotifyComm(){ // now update the app
    contr.notify();
    //............... so you would call from somewhere to do it by this after making those methods
    adJustContrast(contr.contrastSlider.getValue());
    updateNotifyComm(); // or just running code of contr.notify();
    // i have no idea how that became boolean  doAutoAdjust in my mind
    // for auto adjust
    adjAuto();
    updateNotifyComm();Edited by: 893871 on Nov 3, 2011 8:15 PM

  • Adjusting contrast on printer window 8620

    There is very little contrast in the window showing apps and options for print, scan, fax etc. very faint and hard to read. How do I adjust the contrast so it is easier to read?

    Hello @prkrgrp,
    I'm sorry to hear that the touchscreen contract on your HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer is too faint for you to read it properly. I would like to assist you today with resolving this issue.
    This may be a bit challenging as you're having a hard time reading your display, but the setting is altered on the screen for your printer.
    On your printer screen, slide your finger to the left (like a touchscreen phone), until you see Setup
    Touch Setup to access the Setup menu
    Touch Printer Setup
    Slide your finger down until you see Screen Brightness (should be your 5th option)
    Touch Screen Brightness to access this menu
    You will now see a scroll bar. Slide the bar over to the far right for the brightest screen display option
    Once you settle on a screen that suites your needs simply select OK on the bottom right
    Please let me know if these steps resolve your display issues. I look forward to hearing from you. Have a Happy New Year!

    I have a large number of photos imported into iPhoto with the dates wrong.  How can I adjust multiple photos (with varying dates) to the same, correct, date?

    If I understand you correctly, when you enter a date in the Adjust Date and Time window, the picture does not update with the date you enter.  If that is the case then something is wrong with iPhoto or your perhaps your library.
    How large a date change are you putting in?  iPhoto currently has an issue with date changes beyond about 60 years at a time.  If the difference between the current date on the image and the date you are entering is beyond that range that may explain why this is not working.
    If that is not the case:
    Remove the following to the trash and restart the computer and try again:
    Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.iphoto
    Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.iPhoto (There may be more than one. Remove them all.)
    ---NOTE: to get to the "home > library" hold down option on the keyboard and click on "Go" > "Library" while in the Finder.
    Let me know the results.

  • How can I adjust the font size of my printouts?

    I have an HP Officejet 4500 all-in-one printer and a new HP pavilion Slimline computer.  Since I changed to this computer, my printouts have very small font size making them hard to read.  How can I adjust the font size of the printout?  Is it a computer or printer function? I appreciate the help.

    I, too, am frustrated.  This seems like something that would easily be handled within the application software.  However, none of the fixes I've been offered have been very helpful.  My cousin sugested using Control C and Control V to move the text to WORD.  Once in WORD, you can manipulate the text on a WORD page...sometimes.  I've had good and bad luck with this method.  It still requires working in two different programs to get it legible.  Does anyone else have a 4500  All-in -one with this problem, or is it only me?  Thanks,  [Edited for Personal Information]

  • How do I adjust the print size of a photo?

    I created a collage in PSE 10 and took the photo to Ritz to have printed out in an 18" x 24" poster.  When the file was read into their computer for printing, the sizing came up as 18'1/2" x 24".  Printing the photo as is will cut 1/2" off of the collage.  How do I adjust the print parameters of my photo file in PSE 10 to be exacetly 18" x 24"?  Thanks.

    Here is my suggestion:
    Open a blank, new file (File>new>blank file) size 8.5x11"
    Open the collage
    Go to Select>all
    Go to Edit>copy
    Go back to the blank file created in step #1
    Go to Edit>paste. The collage will be on its own layer
    Access the move tool, and with the corner handles resize the collage. Using the corner handles should preserve the aspect ratio. If you open the rulers, you will have a point of reference as you go along.
    Print a draft copy to see if it will be suitable in the frame..
    Please report back with your progress.

    How can I adjust text size in ibooks dictionary?

    Hello Eoradec2012,
    It sounds like you are using the Define function in iBooks and you are wanting to increase the size of the font on the page showing the definition. The size of that text can be controlled in the Text Size section:
    To adjust the font size, follow these steps:
    Go to Settings > General > Text Size.
    Drag the slider to the preferred size. The text on the screen will adjust as you move the slider.
